ASUS is getting rid of its ROG phone after getting rid of its Zenphone a year prior to that.

I currently have a ROG 7 due to the fact that i hate the android OS setup that samsung has and that it has a larger battery. Any recommendations for a potential future replacement?

Where exactly in DR you were in that time? sure as hell it was probably a god forsaken place, since you were in a "voluntering" thing, because even by 2011-2012 most people i know had their own smartphone with whatsapp and everything, and i don't live presicely in a very modernized town whatsoever.

Rural area near San Juan Maguana, in the mountains. Maybe a mix of rural cell service not being any good yet, or cost of smart phones, but most people had the soap bars. There were some people I interacted with who had smartphones but I think I remember them not being able to do much without literal wifi.

That area had power only sometimes, like it would shut off throughout the day then turn back on at night. Most of the houses had to get water deliveries, either because they didn't have plumbing or the water didn't run all the time like the power.

Actually overall the rural people, and San Juan, were pretty nice. I remember seeing the Santo Domingo slums after flying in and feeling pretty scared, but it ended up being perfectly chill out in the hills.

I hate how all discussion revolving dumbphones seems to be the same consumerist optimization talk over
>I want a dumbphone, but I NEED USB-C/hotspot/navigation/QR scanner/whatsapp/insert function, any recs?
You can get a dumbphone that supports 4g for <30 bucks. The threshold to try it out and figuring out what features you can and can’t live without is incredibly low, and you’ll likely discover that you can get around with a whole lot less than you’d think ex ante.

Did you buy an OLED monitor?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ-L0P8Gn2M
This guy said an OLED monitor is one of the ONLY upgrades you can make to improve gaming with most other stuff being a waste of money.
They are better for movies and other stuff too. And the prices are coming down. And burn in is a thing of the past on the latest panels and come with 3 years warranty. VA, IPS, TN, MiniLED they are all worse in a lot of ways especially when it comes to the main purpose of a monitor - what things actually look like.

So is it time? Make the OLED jump? You can get one for just $400 now.

I agree, but I do not intend to use Linux or any Unix-based OS at this time due to my personal software needs and current workflow, as well as specific hardware driver support. I am also aware of noticeable difficulties with HDR on Linux, and if I am getting an OLED display, I would like to be able to enjoy its capabilities to the fullest. It also still does not yet mimic CRT's motion clarity to the same degree.
>>
>>107982613
>just buy the e-waste monitor come on you NEED it
No way fag. I'd have bought a miniled by now if there was actual choice in the 32" 1440p category and not literally just a single chink VA released recently. Still none for OLED.
>>
>>107991866
Have you considered just not setting it to "brighter than the sun". OLEDs will basically last forever if set at a sensible brightness level rather than eye-melting.

You can EQ open dynamics with the bass rolloff of a typical high-quality open dynamic headphone (e.g. HD600) to the Harman target without producing bass distortion which negatively impacts subjective sound quality when reproducing music, television or games.
Not only is there not a reason to spend more on planars, but you're just needlessly subjecting yourself to the extra weight and reduced comfort of planars by spending more on them.

>>107991962
Tried with hd600 and k702, even with a 20dB boost it's not the same. Just buy planars. You have no idea what you're missing.

looking through the fosdem talk descriptions

>Path Safety in the Trenches(Aleksa Sarai)
Over the past decade (or three) of container runtimes on Linux, the attacks against container runtimes with the most bang-for-your-buck have generally been filesystem related — often in the form of a confused-deputy style attack. This is aided in part by the sheer number of juicy targets accessible through filesystem APIs such as /proc.

too long to post the rest

>VM Integration in systemd(Lennart Poettering)
systemd supports a number of integration features that allow VMMs certain access to the inner state of VM guests for provisioning, synchronization and interaction, and many of them are little known, even though very very useful. In this talk I'd like to shed some light on many such integration points, such as SMBIOS type 11 based system credential provisioning; state propagation/readiness notification via AF_VSOCK; SSH support via AF_VSOCK, and so on.

>VFS News(Christian Brauner)
In this session we're going to take a look at new developments in the VFS layer and related areas.

>nobody ITT tested it themselves to see if it was true or not
>>
>>107989553
Even if it were true, and it is not, there would be literally nothing wrong with someone "stealing" the weights and offering them for free.
All those models were trained on scraped data and even pirated books, and their defense was that using copyrighted content, something illegal for us peasants, it's completely okay when it's for muh AI. It would be only fair that that got the exact same treatment and their data was """used""" for muh AI too.
>>
>>107989553
Oh cool, so I dont need to pay Asmodeus and his Jew wife
>>
>>107989553
I see absolutely nothing that would be wrong with this. The whole deal about them AI is that they copy stuff without paying people. Now chinks do the same, making shit perform nearly as good while having to invest even less in time and energy. If it works it works. If it puts openAI and them other fuckers at peril, so be it. Who cares.
