They're basically releasing Arrow Lake CPUs that require less manual tuning.
RTX 50 Super cards will be similar, but I wouldn't expect double-digit performance gains for the 5070 Ti & 5080 Supers.

My current Emacs config was made using the https://emacs.amodernist.com/ website. I mean, it works okay, but it feels boring and bland.
What packages or configurations you guys use? I don't care about bloat, my computer can handle even shit like JetBrains with ease, some packages for Emacs won't be a problem.
>>
>>106977657
I could make one in postscript, but that’s more fourth-like than lisp-like.

I use Doom Emacs now, but I used to run a custom config based on meow:
https://paste.ofcode.org/NUfD5rcMysCgA7C939wBam

Some packages I really wouldn't want to miss are avy, parinfer (if you write Lisp/Clojure)
>>
>>106978075
ive been really interested in meow. why the change to doom?

ITT discussions and evidence of the enshittification of technology.
The obvious example of yesterday's AWS outage is very in your face but I feel the normies have no idea things are getting worse until the AI (actually Indians) accidentally push some bad DNS configs and fuck up every service on the East coast.
But if they only knew about the things quietly breaking and getting worse over time.
Recently I've noticed Google maps giving increasingly braindead navigation instructions. Following them adds 10 minutes to the time estimate. Ignoring them and just taking the interstate has me arrive 5 minutes earlier.
A 15 minute differential on a 30 minute commute is wild. How bad do things need to get before they stop outsourcing literally everything?

RAID isn't a backup. This is in no way reliable as a backup, there's no guarantee that multiple vital sectors won't go down at the same time. Sure, it's a "backup", but that's like counting on your airbag to save you in a 90mph crash, good luck
>>
>>106977003
please enlighten me on the functionality of raid then. Is it not to spread out data amongst multiple disks? You know, one might say that is a BACKUP of those disks? If one disk dies, the others can serve as a BACKUP?

>>106978222
>This is in no way reliable as a backup
that's literally what I said
>there's no guarantee that multiple vital sectors won't go down at the same time
there's also no guarantee that ANY backup is going to work. hard drives die or corrupt data all the time. that's why the 3-2-1 rule is so important.

Prices have already risen and they do not drop any more. As you can see year long waits are expected for 30TB+ HDDs.

The same applies to RAM and SSDs too, OpenAI plans to buy 40% of all NAND in the world next year, going directly to SK Hynix and Samsung, purchasing the wafers themselves before they are even turned into chips, other AI companies will snap up the rest, there will be nothing left for end users.

OpenAI's Stargate project has a $500 Billion budget and they plan to spend all of it.

I've used it daily for work because that's what 90% of our users are on, helps me to notice when they roll out some retarded change like them adjusting the look of Settings in 25H2 that way I'm not clueless at someone's computer
Shift+f10 during the "Asking for Internet" first time setup, oobe \bypassnro, run a few PS scripts to move the taskbar icons to the left and pin apps we need, etc.
Windows 11 sucks, yes, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. I was a 7 purist for a long time, but I figure I'll relegate that to a few machines and keep using rufus to throw W11 on random shit. It works well enough for what I do, and I'm competent enough to switch it back if need be.
Btw sometimes a BIOS update on your Win10 machine can make you eligible for Windows 11 if you're concerned about not being "truly" licensed. Virtual TPM was added to some manufacturers BIOS updates and so you may not need a physical chip. Or just use rufus lol

if you have a normal distro (which adds user bin to $PATH, make a /home/user/bin
then use ln to make a symbolic link:
ln -s ~/some/place/with/df/run_df ~/bin/df

log out and log in
>>
>>106977554
2:
look in ~/.profile to find something like this or add it if you dont have any lines which add ~/bin to path.
# set PATH so it includes user's private bin if it exists
if [ -d "$HOME/bin" ] ; then
PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH"

'echo $HOME' to see if it correctly gives you your homedir

if it does, then you can use >>106978368
without modification.
if not, just replace $HOME with the actual home dir.
make sure "bin" exists in home dir and then do "ln" with your dirs
>>106978336
then log out and in
you can probably just "source ~/.profile" insead of logging out
