Learn Linux? No, you probably won't touch the kernel.
Learn GNU/Systemd/Linux? Then yes, you will learn a lot regardless of how you install your distro. The only difference is some stuff might already be already streamlined if its common or you might have to deal with changing or uninstalling annoying defaults if it's something uncommon or abtuse.
The advantage of "hard" distros is to make your computer behave exactly as you want or just to explicitly see what is being installed/setup. If you pick all default options or don't know what things mean then you should just use an "easy" distro.
If you just want to feel superior just join the "I actually do work on my machine" crowd.

It's all still GNU/Linux, the biggest differences in user experience come from the Desktop Environment as they come with a different set of applications and tools, some support Wayland by default others are still on X11.
Then there's package managers like apt, the new formats like flatpak and snap, and whether the distro uses systemd.

Internally, an erlang/OTP application is going to have a supervision tree which is kind of like its own orchestration mechanism for the purposes of reliability and error tolerance. My laptop restarted out of nowhere and went immediately into the bios, any restart attempt leads back into the bios. I figure the issue is the empty boot load order, but my drive is still being recognized. Anything I can try out other than trying to install windows from scratch?
