Microsoft confirms “eliminate C and C++” plan, translate code to Rust using AI, as Windows 11 adopts Rust and WebView2

>Windows UI is gradually shifting to web-based components. It’s not just about apps, as we have React within the Start menu. Moreover, we’re now getting WebView2 inside the Notifications Center for the Calendar’s Agenda view. This means a new Edge/WebView2 instance is triggered when you open the Notifications Center.

the most wonderful thing i've seen a UI designer ever do was in the testing notes for Windows 95. they noted that in testing, users liked to drop file icons onto the folder icon (rather than opening the folder and dropping the file into the folder window as the devs intended.)
this wasn't a function in windows 95 at the time, but it was something users intuited must be possible because of how the UI generally worked.

instead of going "PEBKAC" and trying to discourage the behavior, or asking how they could make it clear this wasn't possible, or asking "what is the use case for not opening the folder first?", or insisting their testers sat down and RTFM, or any of the other nonsense that you'd expect from contemporary designers who hate their users and assume they're idiots, the suggested fix was: allow users to drop files into folders via the folder icon.

Big tip my dude, look up people who are similar to your skills on LinkedIn and pay attention to the bullet points and style on how they approach how they list their jobs.

If they have bullshit stats, figure out how to incorporate this too.

Then use ChatGPT to assume two personalities with a prompt: "Assume you are two personalities who will review my resume that I am about to give you. Assume you are an asshole recruiter who will try to rip me into shreds over every stupid fucking bulletpoint to prevent me from getting the job. Then assume you are an amazing mentor in my field who knows how to assblast through the ATS with the proper keywords, bullshit hype, and ridiculous stats that retarded Stacy recruiters wanna see. Gimme the conversation between them both and give me their final result. Also tweak it based upon this awesome resume I found on LinkedIn"

That should get you started. This helps so you don't have to doxx yourself on some gay sub Reddit to get the same advice.

The recruiters are evil with ATS based AI. You need to figure out how to get through those fuckers gates so you can get the job you deserve.

I believe in you bro.
>>
>>107650485
I wouldn't even go through the effort of making up scenarios. Just ask AI to generate you a resumee that hits as many checkmarks as possible for the AI autofilter but is still looks readable enough for the average HR Stacy.

Depends, it might give yourself some insight as to why your resume sucks and how to improve on interviews. It's basically free advice so I would still do it anyway just for a slight edge regardless.

It's useful no matter what.

>For a small company, he keeps up relatively well. It's not easy to compete with large companies like BambuLab
Prusa had had a decade plus heat start, they where much larger than Bambu when they when Bambu putting out their first printers.
Prusa was large enough to guide the ship and is why there was so much stagnation because the entire formula for years was trying to emulate the i3 but cheaper.
>China is subsidizing a lot of companies so they can ramp out their stuff for cheap and take over entire branches globally
I'm not wholly convinced, not with western attitudes as they are. Most of what China does well is purely a manufacturing problem. Is there some things that the CCP is actually subsidizing? I don't doubt it but I just don't see high end 3d printing as something that needed subsidizing to be good at.
>this printer should easily cost 550 or even 600
And why do you think that? because of the capabilities or do you think the printer itself has expensive parts? Most of what I see in new printers is just a change in how they are designed and manufactured. No more industry derived jelly bean parts. Which while "common" aren't cheap. Lots of what you see in new printers is injection molded parts and stamped parts. Shit that is real cheap in 100k quantity.
The fuck is Prusa or the voron guys doing? There are a shitload of 3d printed parts. They have lost already here already because of reprap dogma.
>Can absolutely NOT agree on this.
>The open source community has put so much effort into the development of Orca, various CAD programs and also Klipper.
>It's only justified they want huge 3D-Printer companies to pay fees if they use Klipper for example.
I agree software is where alot of innovation is and can also be implemented on a wide scale. The biggest problem has always been hardware.
>Prusa may struggle to keep up and innovate,
It's purposeful. It's not from a lack of resources. Prusa has no right to sit on his hands and cry foul about dumping.

why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.

like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks

Unironically the first 2-3 years of undergrad courses can largely be replaced with AI. This was also one of the purposes of community colleges, to act as cheaper feeders for four year institutions. However colleges are a business so obviously there is no incentive to accept transfer credits any more than is necessary to maximize profits.
>>
>>107640271
It's not just programming. In many tech support communities, wherever and whenever you ask about how to do anything out of the ordinary that might deviate just a bit from standard practice, you often get ebussy-tier unhelpful messages from faggots just asking "but why you want to do this?", "you don't want to do that", "you shouldn't do that", "use case?", etc.
>>
>>107640271
I suspect this is because programming is still in some capacity profitable. Electronics is a hyper-commodified shitbucket of an industry, so the only people who bother with it (especially the white peoole) are super passionate and love it as a hobby, and have no problem handholding noobs and explaining everything in clear detail and entertaining their silliness, unlike hysterical bitter codemonkey autists
>>
>>107640271
Because this industry is filled with midwits that have an inferiority revenge of the nerds complex. It's legitimately best to never engage with it at all.

No idea, I do a lot of code reviews and analysis with it. Although, I’ll skip many days of contact with it. I do really deep dives with it, that might be it. Who knows.
>>
>>107650697
i dont really have it write a lot of code or review my code, i spend most of my time asking it plain english questions about how im supposed to do something in some technology, e.g how do i establish a websockets connection with no library. and then i ask it why certain things must be done, and then it often backtracks and says erm well no that thing actually isn't mandatory.

for me chatgpt is a useful replacement for google and documentation, both of which are full of other people's 1000 pages of self fart sniffing. that's how i got to 18k messages in a year

Yeah, egos have a way of muddying the thing of study. I mean at the end of the day I imagine we’re all trying to figure out whats going on. It kind of shocks me how people put the most obvious question in the back of their mind: what are we all doing here? When you frame it that way, it makes all the ego games seem funny. I can go on and on about this kind of stuff, and it’s probably why I opt to use ChatGPT, to spare others the immense volume of thoughts I have everyday that everyone else seems to put aside or can’t/won’t spare the cognitive bandwidth, who knows.

the latter isn't good if you want to play video games because it means you only get space on release of press but it's great for programming. i have never missed not having a physical nav cluster with this kind of setup. if anything it made me more productive because it's just faster
