c++ templates are zero overhead and generated at compile time. there is nothing you could do to improve them while keeping their advantages. their main downside is you have to recompile the function/class/etc every time a new overload is used. this means you cannot link against precompiled templates. your naming convention could not in the slightest imply anything more than a naming convention because it doesn't address the core issue with them. you have clearly never written code that uses templates if this is the best thing you could come up with.

>c++ templates are zero overhead and generated at compile time
I can only think of Java and Go as examples of AOT compiled languages where generics impose a runtime cost. C++ isn't unique in the slightest.
>there is nothing you could do to improve them while keeping their advantages
There are lots of things you can do to improve them like fixing inference, doing away with the shitty qualifier mechanics, having deeper integration with the language, a better compilation procedure, etc.

Anon, every time you post you make it clear to me that you really don't understand this level of language design. The focus on syntax and surface level details, they have nothing to do with what I'm talking about.
template<class T>
T add(T a, T b);
auto x = add(1, 1);
auto y = add(1.0f, 1.0f);

How does the compiler deduce the types of a and b for x and y? How does it deduce the types for x and y?

I need help understanding how to run exe utilities in wine. As I understand, anything command line is run through winecmd rather than doing Windows cmd stuff, so it throws an unknown command error for a ton of stuff, breaking most scripts and... executable arguments. I've tried running .bat files with "foo.exe arg1 arg2" to no success, same goes for adding the .exe in Lutris and configuring arguments there. I seem to lately be mostly interested in games that need tinkering to work right even in Windows and that shit cascading into linux is proving to be a real pain in the ass.
>>
>>107790828
Wait, does wine really not support the feature set of... cmd? In a way that breaks real scripts? That's surprising, I would figure that DOS-era shit is long mastered by now. Or is it just missing various .exes that it expects to be in the path?
>>
>>107790870
That's my understanding, yeah. It's only a very limited set that has been implemented. Not even conditionals and whatnot. I guess the expectation is that people would write bash scripts, which is real fuckin' antiquated with how much wine is being used for now and those things relying on windows native support communities.
>>
>>107790926
That's really weird. cmd is obtuse but it seems like it'd be really simple to implement compared to everything in win32 and it's entirely feature frozen afaik. I could see someone slightly more autistic than I am doing it for fun. There's probably an open source implementation somewhere for freedos or something too.
I mean I know there isn't that many batch scripts these days but come on, any project that can implement d3d12 well enough to run ue5slop should be able to re-implement cmd.exe in its sleep.

We already have 480Hz 4k OLED panels, the bottleneck is the interfaces, DisplayPort and HDMI.
You can currently only do 1080p 480Hz on those 4k OLEDs.
>>
>>107790393
OLEDs always have the degradation issue
they dont like running the pixels at high volts, and to produce short bright pulse you need to up the brightness as much as you can
if they can validate that high nit burst behavior to not cause burn in issues a tech like pulsar might be implemented

>>107790991

CannelCase is better and easier to work with for autocomplete, its shorter so you can fit longer dir's on the screen, it reduces cognitive load because you're not having to differentiate the _ and / symbols.

I typically only use underscores for seperating numbers from words in repetitive filenames (example: image_1, image_2, image_3 ....) and sometimes when im making a simple local backup of a folder (example: old_foldername, bak_foldername, foldername_old, foldername_bak ...)

When you design a circuit with breadboard, wires, resistors, capacitors, chips, diodes, LEDs, thermistors, and all the little sensors and modules you want for your system, you look at the final result and make a diagram of the connections, components, and their tolerances (5V power, X-Ohm resistor, etc). If you give the diagram you've made to a company, they'll send it to a factory in China for you and more likely than not solder the connections to the component, where you just open the box they ship back, and lo, the thing you've designed is there.

The chip in the OP pic is just a shrunk-down version of a larger circuit. Machine soldering the component will be less of a pain in the ass, but if you know there's a problem and you can use a multimeter to test the connection between two points on the circuit, you can desolder and resolder by hand, or replace a component as you need to.

If you wanted to print your own solder mask and wire all the connections between components, you could, but you'd need specialized equipment. All the white lettering you see on the board is silkscreen, a separate process to make the connections intelligible.

Originally for better laptop/mobile battery life. But it seems Lunar Lake has made that redundant. Kinda sucks for them since they put a bunch of work into making arm windows work and the prism emulator. Maybe arm will get better again but Intel made a serious comeback in that segment.
>>
>>107790891
>Use case?
Trying to stay relevant. But Windows ""people"" are just gaymers and employees and 90% of the time, they have a x86 Desktop PC with a monitor at work or at home.

ARM people have a Macbook, Chromebook, Phones and iPads. But I'm glad Microsoft is pushing ARM, that means more devices and hopefully 1 day a good alternative to a Macbook, where we can install Linux.

Should they have just smashed a sim card into these fuckers? would have saved us all a lot of doom scrolling if phone devices were even slightly less convenient to pull out, not to mention women wouldn't expect you to reply to them in 5 mins after every sent text.
