>/g/ makes a 19th album
Theme: [Accepting suggestions]

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

Ah, this makes so much more sense now, thank you. Am I understanding it right that there are two profiles that need to be set, by the way, another one being for Guix home so that it can then find packages in the path after installing?
So ie I’d want both what you wrote there in bash_profile, but also another one like . “$HOME/.guix-home/profile/etc/profile”? I don’t know if this sounds dumb but this was not at all obvious to me from the documentation.

Ram shortage are here to stay until 2028

>>No AAA games with GTA-V-like textures, maximum is Deltarune graphics
Consumer GPUs/computers don't contribute much to this shortage compared to data centers.
You would not believe how many chips go into a data center.
And fuck, we have been on 8GB being the average VRAM for a decade.
>>
>>107547472

So when AI becomes smart enough to make infinite ram, it's just going to hand it over to us instead of using it to achieve god tier status?
>>
>>107544651

Dave Egglestone literally just estimated mid 2027 as a time where the RAM shortage should already have quieted down. There's literally like 3-5 factories coming online this and next year. Manufacturers work tightly together. A many year long whole in the supply chain would not be missed and not planned for as the order amount closely follows motherboard amount etc. Don't be another sheep.

What you should do is sell your current RAM, and then look into buying depreciated tangential parts. PSU's and motherboards for example have great pricing ATM. Towards the end of the RAMpocalypse, used market is going to be amazing. Clip this and see you in 2027.
>>
>>107557219
We wouldn't even make a dent in their earnings, but the companies that fucked us over most during this time should be boycotted purely out of principle, if they ever come crawling back to the consumer market.
>>
>>107557257

Mainstream gam3r media are so fucking dumb there is just no chance. 90 % buying nvidia is basically equivalent to bambu situation in 3d printing. Most people are not interested in **DYI** pc gaming. It's driven by teenagers and their FOMO and marketing.

Saving the hobby means saving the DYI part, which is going to mean moving away from gaming, because there is just too much baggage there. Which means homelabbing, open source advocacy, microcontroller space. Gaming has to be kept tangential, because gaming is not about empowerment and its audience too diluted. Gamers are essentially normies now, that just want stability and performance, which taints any other discussion.

Both Linux and FreeBSD use the same OpenZFS implementation. The only difference is that FreeBSD can use it as a full boot environment by default.
>>
>>107557256
I know. But there's a difference between "implementation" in terms of how zfs manages storage and "implementation" as an integral component of the entire operating system. I'm using root-on-ZFS-on-Linux right now and have had to deal with kernel modules not loading, shoddy bootloader ZFS support, disappearing boot entries, initramfs failing to find/include relevant modules, etc etc. The kind of stuff that I don't see happening on FreeBSD or Solaris/illumos, since ZFS gets native treatment there.
>>
>>107557203
this is literally solved by package managers
such a non issue, distributing binaries is a worse way of doing things anyway. And if you do want to distribute binaries just compile static with musl, the linux ABI is stable

It is the most common thing amongst creative people. You are starting to build up something. Then that something becomes bigger. You can see it flourish. It feels good. It becomes part of your essence. A driving foce behind who you are. A mental growth factor, so to speak.
After a while, the why and the audience become irrelevant. All that matters is you and your creation, as it maturates and nurses your mental well-being.

But when you get to the more visual novel-like games is where it shines, but not just limited to the traditional types of VNs. Actually controlling and doing something elevates it above things you can't get in any other medium.

>No libreboot does not make your device any more secure
Explain this one.
>>
>>107556932
no verified boot.
You can't be certain that the firmware hasn't been tampered with.
Also they completely like to ignore the existance of hardware root of trust because it's proprietary.
Libreboot prioritizes freedom over security.
GrapheneOS makes use of it because... it's actually a good thing in terms of security.

Now there's a few attempts to create an open hardware root of trust by google called OpenTitan but I am not familiar with it.
>>
>>107557239
I always assumed libreboot had the same functionality as Heads. If I am understanding this correctly then is the threat level for libreboot only in case I think that state actors have manipulated me into going to a certain electronics store at a certain time to buy a certain laptop that they tampered with before I bought it? God I hate freetards.
>>
>>107555323
My god you're stupid.
Micro g, Aurora, and F-Droid are all insecure sources for app installation - therefore they develop and distribute sandboxed Google play store as a secure alternative.
They explain a bit more on their forum: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/4290-sandboxed-microg/11
