Battery life is pretty good after the first few days. With 26.1 and on you can turn down most if not all the Liquid Glass stuff. At least for icons (which can also be tinted glass) and on the lock screen. But I don't think it's a huge battery drain, it's more people updating and then being gay about the first couple days being worse for battery life as it completes the update and does stuff in the background.
