Rob Pike is NOT a fan of AI. Why do I notice the trend that all the good programmers seem to hate AI?

The same is true of UTF-16. The surrogate pairs have special parity bit prefixes.

Passionate veteran programmers are not just doing what they do because they like to print symbols on computer screens they are passionate about software and building communities and making meaningful contributions. They possess human souls and have motivations beyond making line go up on a graph or maximize their own gains. It is natural for 4chan to side with the line-go-uppers who are cannibalizing the field because this site has not produced anything of creative value in years and is basically a zombie sustained by reposting shit from other sites.

What's /g/'s opinion on Mental Outlaw? I've been a fan of his for a long long time, he's the one that made me privacy conscious and made me switch to Linux. I remember once reading in one of his comment sections that he was "bullied off /g/" by some guy, is this true? Also, if you're seeing this thread Kenny, hi!

Mental Outlaw to be good but for a long while now his videos became less informative and more commercial in nature. Shorter, made to advertise his based shop or whatever. Witty and interesting when you're a novice; lacking depth if you already know the subject matter of his videos.

It's after you've told your Mac to install a program, for some reason you also have to drag its icon into the applications folder? Is this a humiliation ritual?

If you open a dmg file, you basically just open a zip archive with a custom wallpaper and a shortcut to your application folder.
When you drag the application to your applications folder shortcut, you basically extract that application to the applications folder.
Also that app icon is actually a folder itself

I was against eSIM when I heard it was being forced on people with new phones, but after using it I'm convinced physical SIM should die
>free and instant network activation
>if your phone is stolen, you can't get physically SIM swapped
>makes more phones dual SIM
>GrapheneOS will wipe it if you enter your duress password
The only benefit I can see for regular SIM is it's easier to swap between phones, which is something hardly anyone does regularly

phys sim
>sim card has carrier registered IMSI burned in, phone reads that and uses it

unless you're using your phone as a worse tablet it's literally same shit. And besides that, phones already communicate with towers even if you don't have a card, most countries let you call emergency services regardless of carrier

been doing this for a while now. Every time I get an upgrade from work I ask if I can keep the old laptop. Same if they're throwing out old equipment.

I've recovered two Mac laptops, one of those retarded trashcan Macs, two Dell Latitudes, and an unmanaged switch. A while ago I got an XP-era Gateway and a Powerbook G4 from a friend who was throwing them out, and this weekend I powered them on and got an OS installed

I think my total computer count is 22, depending on what you consider an actual computer (higher with RPis, NAS, etc.)

I plan to keep doing this until I run out of space in my apartment, but I think the global supply chain will collapse before then and I might have to make do with the computers I have

mornin' retards and alike

techbros unironically believe that because they've "mastered" how to use consoomer technology that they can just "tech up" any other field by implementing one thing they read about once the same way they smash microservices together at "work"

whats the diference between a male pc and a female pc, where you would connect one to they cal it a null modem cable? but it used to usb power supply
>>
>>107686847
The female PC lacks a CPU
>>
>>107686847
Sure, I can help you with that. To identify if a computer is a male or a female, first check its OS.
If it's MacOS, then it's a female computer.
If it's a Linux, especially Arch, then it's a male computer but with a bug that makes it identify itself as a female computer.
If it's Windows 10 or 11, just turn it off.
You can also look for a particular logo that may help you identify if it's a male or a female: If you find an old pixelated Windows logo, a MS-DOS logo, an Amiga logo, an Atari logo, a Silicon Graphics logo, a MSX logo, an Amstrad logo, or a PC-98 logo, it's definitely a ballsy male computer.
