Ok it's already too late for ram and GPUs.. what else should I buy before the price of literally everything goes up? What's next on the chopping block??
>>107850970Cpu, mobos, psu

GPUs actually vanished mainly because of the RAM issues. So it's just anything that takes RAM is your answer. Robovacs, smart toasters, etc etc
Psu Fans Yeah mobos. Wish I had money to spare but its on the wall whats next. This almost might be one big game on the world stage. Don't go crazy.

What's best 32" 4k IPS monitor for PC, gaming and workhorse tasks? Ideally 120hz or aboveThe primary goal is to buy IPS monitor, so try recommend me the best one in that panel type. If you want to recommend OLED I'll take look (but probably ignore, I keep my monitors on long times/static images)Picrel Asus XG32UCG, probably not "best" but it's the one I'm currently entertaining. I have 27" version (for secondary duty), that monitor and Asus VG27AQZ such pleasure to use, both have very good base/stand, much prefer this square style stand over the tripod legs or whatever some monitors have. The 27" version is fun to use (for non-PC stuff), so naturally I think the 32" version would be even better (for PC stuff).
Is this a good option to escape (((Intel ME))) and (((AMD PSP)))?Yes, I'm a targeted individual

P40 still works but you're limited to cuda 12.8 and toch 2.7. llama.cpp still supports it. For pure text LLM it is doable, especially MoE.
>>107851776The second you might want to dabble in anything else though you're SOL.
>>107851776Yes, but then you are 100% reliant on llama.cpp even for pure text LLM. You won't be able to use vLLM, exllama, or even ik_llama.cpp.

What is better: a 14" or a 16" MacBook Pro? I can't decide. It's unironically too difficult to decide. On one hand, I would prefer the larger display, on the other hand I use my laptop exclusively when I can't use my PC to do something, which means I need a laptop for use around the house and carry it outside first and foremost. I absolutely do not want to use an external monitor almost ever though.

MBP problem is a bit more of dimension than weight. 16" MBP isn't much heavier than 14" MBP. Most compact bags could fit 14" MBP easily while 16" might not.If you can carry around typical big gaming laptop around. 16" MBP is fucking nothing. Some brands offer bags/backpacks specifically designed for MacBook in mind, choices are plenty.

install fault on HP 15-fd0083wmI downloaded and created my USB installer drive directly from the Elementary OS website. it works in live mode. when I try to "erase disk and install" it instantly faults and cannot install. id does this even after a clean format. after some searching I tried "custom install" option after using Gparted to format the drive and create partitions (512MB for FAT32 boot) and then the rest as ext4. then when I return to the installer and select "custom install" and select my partitions, the windows overlap in such a way I cannot see, select or confirm anything on the partitions. resizing the primary installer window does nothing. additionally, I only seem able to select the 512MB FAT32 partition, and have been unable to select the larger partition.apparently there is/are known issues with the installer on some computers. my craptop has an UFS SSD which is also probably an issue. something about recognition? I've read so much shit it's all starting to run together in my brain.I got Mint XFCE installed and running on it last night. that also took some finesse, again, I believe, because of the UFS. after several terminal entries in Live, i was able to get it running normally. despite that, I would prefer to run Elementary if at all possible. I have tried forums, GIThub threads and Grok to assess, diagnose and mitigate. still no joy. This is my second Linux install ever and I am not a "computer guy" by any stretch.this computer has a nearly identical origin story to the last one I posted aboot here. it was left behind when a tenant moved out of an apartment presumably because of a bad battery. I got a free battery from Amazon Vine, and was able to get it to boot. being that it is 8 years newer than my Stream 11-Y010, faster and more storage, in dont *need* to run the bare bones Mint XFCE. I would like something a bit more modern and stylish, ie: Elementary 8.1What say you Anon?
