What's the consensus on msbuild when it comes to C# development?
Usually I see people hating on it, although I'm not sure if that comes more from C++ devs working with it.
I had to get a little bit more in-depth with it recently, and I found it to be rather pleasant.
Modern msbuild is very flexible and expressive.and consise IMO.

I do hate how the most popular IDE for csharp (VS) basically hides all that flexibility from the average dev cause they wanna give people fucking GUIs to configure their builds, and solution files are an absolute disaster even with the recent modernization efforts.

But ignoring those is easy if you don't use VS and then you just have a good (and starndardized) build system.
It being standardized is also worth alot.

I think it's the same reason as people buying peripherals with tons of bright LEDs, when you're a kid you think the "gaymer" aesthetic of dark mode with bunch of bright lights is epic. For me personally not only do I think it looks worse aesthetically, it's also just less consistent and compatible with programs and sites, everything almost supports light mode while most sites and programs don't support dark mode properly, it's also terrible for my eyes, for some reason if I use dark mode my eyes after a few hours become red as fuck and it's difficult for me to read white text on a black background, while black text on a white background like irl is super easy.

Light theme at work, dark theme at home. Simple as.

Windows is still good if you're on the correct branch. Objectively a clean install of W10/11 IoT Enterprise LTSC just dwarfs anything linux has to offer. I tried using my phone but within a few weeks the headphone jack was broken. Phones are too big as audio players, which you typically put into a pocket that barely fits it, putting way too much mechanical stress on the plug and jack. Meanwhile I've been using my small and light sansa clip+ for over a decade without issues (except the volume up button being broken, but I can set the volume via settings so no big deal)
