>>107838972>They're trying to phase out personal computing to force everyone onto the cloud.I hadn't taken this too seriously before but now that I think about it...they might make computers way more expensive and harder to use (with shitty software that barely works) and then offer "remote computers" that you can access from e.g. your phone or TV, just like with games...
>>107847344What have they spent and what are there net operating costs? Where is the balance sheet here? You understand that their revenue growth has come with spending dozens of times more than they actually make, with no solid date they can pinpoint where there current strategy will turn a profit, right?
>>107847474> None because revenue figures don't count non-operating income. You don't know what the word "revenue" means. OpenAI absolutely counts outside investment as revenue in their shareholder reports.
>>107847830>spending dozens of times more than they actually makeIf you have more demand than you can supply then obviously you invest your revenue in building more factories to scale up production. This is how every growth industry operators. Moreover, each model they train has paid for itself with the generous profit margins they make from selling tokens.https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/SJESBW9ezhT663Sjd/unit-economics-of-llm-apis>no solid date they can pinpoint where there current strategy will turn a profitWhat makes a future date solid? what amp do i need to power these speakers so they will be loud. i am using a sony 200watt amp right now. it sends 100 watts to each tower speaker. and they still aren't loud enough. can someone link me to a more powerful amp for home ? i also tried a rockville 1000 watt amp and that didn't work. i feel like these speakers should be getting louder at lower volumes. https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-Classic-T65-Floor-Standing-Tower-Speaker-Pair-Black-300-256?quantity=1&srsltid=AfmBOopPh99nZ0TwlzIB-2LTFT9AWQ70Wq526VCCjr0QMMG8W1_ZEEBc

when it comes to it how do you "prove" that model was trained on particular data
Generally, you don't have to. The DMCA operates on a more likely than not standard of evidence.
the only image viewer available on linux that comes close to irfanview in terms of functionality and usability is nomacs. there are no alternatives>ristretto>gwenview>geeqie>gthumb>image roll>mirage>loupe>(p)qiv>eoggarbage>(n)sxiv>lximage-qt>qimgv>qviewComment too long. Why do people like Irfanview? I've always found it horribly ugly and not particularly nice to use. It does have some great features for listing metadata I want to see, though.
>>107847239From what I gather, the magic is in the UI. Unless there is some neat tagging/formatting feature or it integrates with databases a certain way, I'm at a loss too. It may be an ease of reference to display thing. But that goes back to the UI. Licensing?
>>107845962I agree Nomacs rocks, but I use Feh now because its lighter and Grok helped me configure Feh to copy to clipboard, open with GIMP and pane better. Also Windows 98 with NOMACS, wow! What version of Nomacs is that? I can't imagine the latest version working on 98
>>107845962Nomacs is simply too slow as an image viewer. Irfanview has more features and is instant. Feh would be perfect but dev seem to be unwilling to develop it further for whatever reason.

Hello Linux Questions folksChris has installed linux onto my computer and I do not like how it looks..I need it to look like my windows 7 I had before as this new setup is too confusing and unfamiliar....I liked the windows menu as I found it very convenient helpful and familiar. I miss the look the computer used to have with the bright colors and nice sounds ,as this one is too dark and depresses my mood.I am also having troible finding my programs...I liked the programs I used and cannot figuee out how to get them back. I cannot ask Chris since he is too busy to come visit . Thank you to any kind folks who know how to help!James.
>>107846726should've paid him, he would've installed mint
>>107846747Thank you my apologies for a late response ... I found " System Info" and here is what it says... Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon the version is 6.0.4 .. I have also found themes i can change this to white and it is better but I still miss the colors and the look of my windows 7.Do you know how to get it back?
You have to learn from the pros James and no one is ever too old to learn! Take estrogen and hang out with the magical girls in the desktop threads.https://boards.4chan.org/g/catalog#s=desktop%20threadBut seriously look for Aero themes for Cinnamon on https://www.gnome-look.org/
>>107846726Hello, James.Perhaps after taking hrt, dilating and scheduling your penis removal operation, linux will make more sense to you. We shall welcome you here on this community as a fellow linux user and I'd like to personally thank Chris for his bold move into giving you digital freedom. Looking forward to hearing more about your linux adventure, Jasmine.- Emmanuelle

What are the advantages of using an antifascist distro?

>CEO sends out an email encouraging company to use AI more>We consulted an AI (((expert))) that says it will make us more efficient >Encouraging Copilot specifically bc we are already using Office, Azure, Etc.>Mfw im the current IT dept head and was not consulted about any of this or brought in to meet with the (((expert)))How do I tell him this shit is a terrible idea and AI should not be trusted with any meaningful or security sensitive information? Bonus points if it's a response that won't get me fired
>>107844490What fucking retards
>>107844490>How do I tell him this shit is a terrible idea and AI should not be trusted with any meaningful or security sensitive information?AI doesn't think.AI doesn't innovate.AI projects what you want to read based on averaging its training dataset. Often that gets close to the real answer, but very much not always.AI simulates a midwit bullshit artist. (I've known people like that too. Yuck.)An awful lot of speculative money has been spent on building AIs and is still being spent on it. At some point, that's going to show up in how much it costs.A lot of people running big AI services seem to be utterly unethical, relying on theft to build their training datasets and then lying about that. Do you want to trust a known liar?If you want an AI that you can actually trust properly, build a local model running on hardware you control. It'll likely be shit, but it will avoid most of the really nasty governance problems.
>>107844580To be fair, copilot demands data and it wouldn't shock me if those models leak in details you weren't supposed to know. This isn't the same as SharePoint hosted in Azure or some shit. This is literally a half assed database fed data.
I love finding out just how far behind some companies are when it comes to AI adoptionhate to break it to you, but the next few months are gonna be a lot worse
>>107847762Red pill us on the coming storm.
This simple idea of having 2 USB-C ports CANNOT be done because it stops the zoomer from buying wireless ear buds(battery inside will always go to shit and unusable in ~3 years)and you would be stuck using extremely affordable, high quality audio headphones or in ear buds(that are a bit too green for the planet in 2026) also the 3.5mm headphone jack looks like a penis that goes inside a hole and basically why aren't you a wireless, constantly charging gay trans in 2026 right now.am i finally getting it /g?

>>107826042>that pic>can't play Laserdiscsuseless garbage
>>107841456>I'm physically attracted to unnecessarily overengineered hardware.Look up the tray loading mechanism of high end laserdisc players that can do both A/B side reverse and have a separate CD tray. It's a byzantine labyrinth and you have like one master cog driving three or four things, from the tray loading to lifting the entire big ass transport rails driving the pickup.I had to repair one of those once, it was damn near hypnotic.
