Zoomer here... isn't it weird how it became accepted to just not able to change the battery on tech you own, and having it become a brick after 1 year of use because you can't swap the internal rechargeable battery? When did this become the norm with consumer tech?
>sim slots behind the battery

Somewhere along the way tech became form over function.
>>107830478The sizes and shapes of batteries aren't standard, and are often custom made to the exact size available inside the device to maximize capacity. For a popular device 3rd party batteries may be available. But for a niche first party device like the Bluetooth receiver I recently dealt with, it might not even be possible to get an OEM battery. I was able to find a drone battery that was close enough in size to fit if I folded over the little flap with the controller board on it and cut the wires to the exact length to reach the solder terminals though.>>107830558Forces the user to power down the phone before swapping SIMs. That way the firmware doesn't need to have any handling for SIM hot swapping.

>>107830325He's right that XP is overrated now as a whole. Keep in mind that back then there was no WSL or Powershell. The CMD terminal was ancient and couldn't even copy paste properly. If you wanted a tolerable CLI you had to install cygwin/msys through an awful gui to get a crippled gnu environment, dev tools were fucked and split between vs and msys. As a Windows XP was peak though. The OSes have actually converged into some kind of blur of each other, patching each others weaknesses with Windows taking WSL and Wine actually working now.

I really hate graphics cards now. I hate having to buy PSUs with an extra 300W overhead to power graphics cards. I hate having to buy huge cases for them. I hate having to buy support brackets, risers or vertical mounts. I hate having to route 2-3 thickass cables for them. I hate working on the motherboard when there's a GPU in there. I hate installing them. I hate how much heat they dump into my PC. I hate how expensive they are. I hate that all they can do is enable you to play bad gaymes and generate porn.
>>107828485You don't have to get the flag ship elite gaymer GPU. My entire system probably uses 350 - 400 watts max. Just get a entry/mid level card can even get a low profile version. Or get a CPU with integrated graphics this issue is a (you) issue.

>>107830564>how does Jellyfin stream its content anyway?I don't have much idea on that. I already had CS Xplorer (or whatever that file manager is called) installed in my Fire Stick. Connecting via SMB through it is pretty easy. I even had Kodi installed and could connect via SMB through it too but Kodi player isnt really that great so felt it was pointless.I just need a good media player with control customization options I like which is pretty much MX Player on my TV. Uortunately MX Player does not support EAC3 auio codec and lot of the pirated content does seem to be having that codec. I could only play it on TV with VLC which would have been great if it had more options to manage subtitles. However recently discovered Fire Stick does have Miracast feature and I am pretty much set to play it on my laptop which has all the customization I need

>>107830464The normal response to this would be to laugh at them, report their ass to the authorities and go about your day. Most death threats are just that, threats meant to scare you. If you're blowing it up this much and making threads about it then you're doing exactly what they want you to do.
This seems like a completely normal thread filled with reasonable and well adjusted individuals.

These services need to increase adoption to survive, but most users can't see what the cutting edge models are capable without paying upfronttraditionally this problem is resolved by trial periods or upfront free credits. There's a huge problem with this. There's a legion of millions of thirdworlders, mostly Indians, abusing free trials and credits bleeding these services dry of compute.I have a behind the scenes view of how bad this problem is. I know that it's costing one smaller company tens of millions of dollars, and I can extrapolate from that, that it's costing the industry billions. It's a huge problem and these companies don't know what to do. For every legitimate user free access brings in, there's ten users abusing it. Some companies are beginning to close out trial periods but their new users are falling off a cliff. They're fucked either way.
