Why are many game engines trying to copy Unreal or Unity?

this kind of layout is used since forever in video/3d/animation related programs. Propably it's the familiarity or the fact that nobody come up with something better.

Why do some people who oppose big tech and talk about peacefully resisting them at the same time support a large powerful Government? and in this case, its monetary monopoly.

I've seen European socialist on Mastodon say things I strongly agree with about big tech tethering people to centralized cloud software and subscription fees, and how it sucks that the entire world is interdependent on big techs cloud services. But then they follow up with how only the Government can save us from big tech. They act like Government is just another word for the people or community. They have no interest in alternative economies and opting out of the system. This naitivity needs to be brought to light. No need to intimidate anyone, just ask why Govenment is asigned the role of a savior.

Also the reverse argument applies to libertarians and agorist who hate Government but falsely believe big tech and patent monopolies are a free market. Like the morons at Reason.org
>>
>>107699153
I meant reason.com

They wrote a disgusting article about how big tech was a victory of the free market. Ignoring big tech's patent and ip hoarding and government lobbyism.

With tech jobs becoming ever more scarce as AI keeps replacing human workers, is trades the better option now?

Nigga they've been doom and glooming about how tech is dead and you need to go into trades for 10 years at this point. It's mostly jealousy, there is a huge amount of resentment against tech - look at all the seething posts about "tech bros" on X and reddit. I almost fell for the meme, but was too lazy and ended up with a 150k programming remote work job.

I don't get the appeal but then I don't travel much and I work from home

Should I buy an RTX 5070 or an RTX 5070 TI? One is The RTX 5070 is a 750 plus tax in my country, while the 5070 TI is 1100 dollars (plus tax).

I read just now that NVidia is going to raise their prices and I get the feeling that if I buy the 5070, I'll end up needing to buy the 5070 TI in 2026 which at that point - it might be way too fucking expensive.

On the other hand, the thought of buying a GPU for one grand right now feels extremely painful. That's 1/4th of my monthly paycheck.

I always support any open source project that focuses on user experience since I believe Linux is sorely lacking in this regard. That said, I used elementary for a good while and I think they move at a glacial pace and their team has suffered some personal drama. So I don't know how much longer they can maintain their project

Pretty much this is all you have to know. It's really a shame because I enjoyed EOS a long time ago. Very comfy because I don't like to rice and have no need of choice like that. I found out the Dev was a troon when the inevitable troon sperg out occurred. very sad.

these things are a godsend for people with small freezer compartments. my fridge now has a left/right double door where the freezer is as big as the fridge compartment, and when i look back at those days where the freezer was on top it was only as big as a microwave and you couldn't put shit in there.

you can keep things you don't use that often usable for longer.
there's also non-food uses like extending the shelf life of chemicals and stuff that loses potency from oxidization.
>>107695895
bigclive made a video about the cheapest chink vacuum sealer you can get. the takeaway is that they work but you should never leave it plugged in and unattended because they have no safety mechanisms in place and one tiny part failing can mean your house burns down.
would also probably at the very least source the bags locally from name brand stores if you're planning to use them for food.

Are you planning on using Windows on it? If so, do you want to run much software other than what it came with?
Yes? Then it's crap garbage avoid like the plague.
Are you going to install Linux? Are there drivers available for the hardware? Are you willing to build software from source when a precompiled binary isn't available?
Then it's much more viable, and should get you more battery life per weight and amount of performance.
>>
>>107697328
Even linux support for these chips isn't great. I was interested in the qualcomm laptops, but qualcomm's lack of support for linux made me lose interest. I am so tired of arm hardware with poor vendor support.
>>
(((they))) want us to move to ARM for the locked bootloaders
>>
>>107690646
Snapdragon has been great for me, I've been dailying mine for about 16 months now. People like >>107697328 will meme that software doesn't work because they haven't actually used one recently. Nearly everything "just werks" without any special config. The only limitations I've found involve software that's legacy and/or niche, such as an ECU tool for a 20 year old car and the firmware updater for Innoasis MP3 players.

For a laptop, ARM gives you both battery life and thermals (the fans almost never spin up). In the rare occasion I need to do something ARM can't handle, such as the Innoasis firmware updater, I just use my desktop. If you need to run a lot of oddball software and it's your only computer, ARM probably isn't for you. But if you're doing fairly regular things or have other computers (like most of /g/ presumably), ARM is ideal for a mobile device.

If you're just in it for the money, chances are you'll be better off in Norway. But CPH is a really nice city (much nicer than Oslo imo), the people are friendly, coffee and bakeries are amazing, food is top notch. Then again, as a norwegian you probably enjoy the mountains a lot, and we have none of that here.
>>
>>107697973
>If you're just in it for the money, chances are you'll be better off in Norway.
It's an interesting job and a nice opportunity to work abroad (but still relatively close to home). If I just had a generic job back in Oslo, I would definitively go for it. However, my current job is something I've worked long and hard to get and I've reached the point where I have so much seniority and trust at my current company that I can pretty much decide exactly what I want to work on at any give moment.

I enjoy Copenhagen a lot every time I go there, but of course all tourists enjoy going somewhere new.

>Then again, as a norwegian you probably enjoy the mountains a lot, and we have none of that here.
Sadly, I don't enjoy the mountains as much as I used to. Used to do it a lot more when I was younger, but it's kind of a hurdle to leave town to go to them.
