I recently had a funny interaction, i took a piss at a starbucks and didn't buy anything. There's two indians wearing jackets and sandals in 55 degree weather drinking coffee outside using ridiculously oversized android tablets, speaking some impenetrable hindu gobbedygook with "14 inch" "amoled" "galaxy" peppered through. They see this meme phone in my hand and they're too polite or illiterate to say anything to me about it but it's obvious that they're gawking at it. Not in a jealous way, in a mocking way.

But they're indians holding comically oversized tablets outside of a starbucks. It dawned on me that their society is built on caste based elitism so they think that holding an even bigger and more expensive ipad makes them look successful. But they just look like stereotypical third worlders, some white guy with a cheap blackberry clone completely shatters that illusion

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

It was a very nice design concept but it was not executed all that well. The screen half of the device was phenomenal (i love the curved screen with the battery indicator. kino) but the body half was definitely half baked. the keyboard was super tiny and the buttons didnt have any travel - it was kind of a bad introduction to keyboards on phones. it was hamstrung by the absolute worst smartphone SOC of all time, the snapdragon 808. ridiculously underpowered for a 1440p screen, ridiculously hot, ridiculously slow. They die eventually because the cpu delaminates or something (my nexus 5x did the same thing!)

it was absolutely fucking decrepit by 2021 and i was glad to get rid of it even though i loved the physical interface. It lagged just browsing the internet and you were lucky to get 30 fps anywhere. the key2 never got slow like the priv did. mine still works fine. it's just using an old enough version of android that's starting to get annoying.
>>
>>107885826
Personally, specs wise the clicks might be the better choice, but the keyboard on the titan might be better.
We need to really see how everything ends shaping up around the second half, so far unihertz has had a pretty shitty track record in regards to after sale support for their phones, the titan 2 regular has been for a while on the market, but quite literally only got a single OS update, and since fucking june we've had android 16 available, how in the fucking hell hasn't it been updated already from 15?

Are vibecoders essentially beggars?

Vibe coders who do nothing but Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V and think of themselves as programmers are the same type of people who thought they're master brewers because they found out they can throw grains in their thermomix and tap on the beer program in their thermomix app.
They will move nothing on the grand scale of human history. They're so irrelevant, they won't even be remembered as idiots. Their names won't appear anywhere.
>>

>Well vibecoders actually get the shit done
Yeah, like implementing that web frontend with all credentials visible in the clear text.
>>
>>107886823
Most vibecoders know what they are doing or simply they would ask their AI to solve any problems. Cope
>>
>>107886867
If you don't fully understand the code it generated, you won't recognize subtle errors that make it trivial to exploit. And the effort to review AI code is significant so nobody does it.

not true, it was a silly woman on her phone didnt see a slow moving lorry and hit the back, then a silly lorry driver behind was tailgating her to intimidate her to move not knowing she was on her phone not paying attention and he crushed her car between himself and the lorry in front. i know this because i filtered through traffic on my motorcycle to gerra butchers.

The only people who complain about Nix lang are ESL devops "engineers" who by shitting out YAML/HCL thinks that makes them qualified to contribute to systems discussions.

Nix is Haskell-lite without typeclasses. If you are white and have an iq over 100, you should have no problem writing a few config files. Even flake-parts and the dendritic pattern are not difficult to adopt gradually in a repo.

html5 video players don't need javascript, there's literally a <video> element built in to the browser. before that flash was the only way to do video outside of decoding video in javascript. if youtube got laggy it was because google engineers made it that way.

If they would just use a <video> element I'm sure it would run way more efficiently, but then they can't apply all the styling and customization they want, and it's also trivial to download the video.

For most uses of a d-pad, the "layer" of plastic on top of switches is a hindrance. A haptic trackpad is super fluid.

For menus or maybe, like, DDR, I could see where that layer of resistance is beneficial.

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes I2P outproxy through Tor through a VPN or similar setups with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in ephemeral disposable qubes whose one-time random 256-bit encyption keys reside on a tmpfs, with no unencrypted access to a permanent storage; or in entirely on-RAM disposable qubes to hide storage device wear statistics and other side channels. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB keyboard and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability. Screws are painted with nail polish to ensure physical tamper evidence.

what's your setup like?
>>
All meaningless because your CPU has a hardware backdoor that can easily override any encryption.

CachyOS has their own repos. They just aren't outdated like Manjaro. If anything they are ahead of Arch.

I guess endeavour is the best version of Arch after all.

>>
>>107887450
That's pretty much the case. If you want Arch Linux but with an installer for grannies, EndeavourOS does fit the bill.
CachyOS has issues unique to itself since it modifies and reconfigures a lot of stuff to "improve" it.

Too outdated.

For example its more of an outcast because XFCE doesn't have its own dedicated apps and app store. Yes it has GTK apps like the system tools but thats about it.

KDE offers a full suite with modern hardware on wayland with HDR and multimonitor with scaling. KDE offers a store with discover thats fasts, PDF reading with okular, KDE partition manager, kwrite as a text editor.

KDE has an all encompassing suite of apps that all share the same design QT language and it all themes properly
