I had high hopes for pic related. It arrived today and it is fucking GARBAGE. Returning it immediately.

I think they somehow found a way to spoof pixels. The computer reads the screen as the amount of pixels advertised, but it looks grainy as fuck and also very suspect that the computer recommends 100 percent scaling, which only makes me suspect more that this is full hd spoofed as UHD+

#define __NR_sendfile            40

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/sendfile.2.html

this guy is pretty cool! i think i mentioned him in one of the earlier threads. quite handy for saving you the effort of all the stat, buffer, read, write nonsense.
i was a bit torn about whether to include
copy_file_range
in today's thread, but it's distinct enough that it will get its own. it's basically the same thing, though (same for splice and tee lol). linux really loves to do that, huh?
anyway, yeah, great syscall! highly recommend using it where you can. in a lot of places it's going to be just a drop in replacement.
oh, one last point. the dual use of the offset argument is pretty neat. i really like that

not strictly. you should be able to just pass a very large value into count. it'll return the number of bytes written
>I rarely do user-oriented logging of that kind
i wouldn't call it user oriented, really. it's getpid/gettid, not getuid. it's mostly useful for knowing when you're off in a thread

Could trigger EOVERFLOW according strictly to the documentation.

wow, i missed that.
however, it says "the maximum size", not "the size"
so that would imply to me that it's talking more about filesystem limits. i guess i can just go check the source

HUH, I suppose you're right. I like to read for small files and mmap for larger files, though, so that'd still require stat'ing.
>i am sick :(
that's not nice:( get well soon!
>i wouldn't call it user oriented, really. it's getpid/gettid, not getuid. it's mostly useful for knowing when you're off in a thread
you are logging programme state into an external file for later reading, aren't you? I tend to just write "could not [do operation]" and then exit, retrying the entire thing with a debugger.

Now I have to make burner phones to be able to register new ones. It fucking sucks.
> VBulletin forums
There used to be a rich ecosystem of forums before reddit took over. Mods on those forums were fair and largely pleasant because of you over moderate like on reddit you'd kill the site.
It's a cancer and I wish someone would buy it like Elon and kill it .
>>
I lurk it becuase my username is N9ggersonthemoon and anytime I post anything regardless of how on topic and innoffesnive 5 faggots hyperfocus on my username and report me, so I don't bother anymore. It's pretty good for following niche interests though. I've been warned like 5 times so I just gave up on any type of posting, half the time the comment section isn't worth reading anymore as it's just bots or the most npc tier takes and retards trying to be funny for updoots
>>
for actual discussion of anything, the culture and moderation makes it total shit. the ui redesign also makes it a pain in the ass to navigate or do something as simple as finding subreddit wiki/sidebar links. sometimes i post hobby projects on relevant subs for upboats and to feel smart, and it's ok tier for unopinionated tech support/help type questions, but there's a bunch of dunning kruger retards you have to watch out for, plus nowadays you have children and mongoloids spamming chatbot nonsense in reply to every question.
there's been an interesting cultural shift ever since they added single click signup with google account, now you have the classic redditor, and mentally disabled boomers who stumbled there from a google search fighting them (and state propaganda accounts). it's especially visible in any kind of political discussion. i like to lurk my city's subreddit to kek at millennials debating maga grandpas, and i also lurk indian subs because it is amusing.

Camera support isn't that important, it's website usage. As in like facebook auto converting 6 million user uploaded images to AVIF via hw accel. User uploads would never adhear to any kind of metric to be controllable toward bandwidth reduction. 4chan is one of the few outliers of this kind of thing.

it's not that obscure and it fascinates me that REDditors don't have any of the 2010' electronic music I like. They also don't have anything that's exclusive on bandcamp. WEB slops are only from ripping websites. They don't buy anything.
>>
>>108110973
When it comes to vinyl only electronic if you don't buy it and do it yourself you take what you get. If it isn't on streaming you take what you get. Expecting people to care about the exact same niche shit you're into is naive. I buy music and share it but you probably don't like any of it even though it isn't popular. That's fine with me.
>>
>>108110999
I don't expect anything and I can't buy much because I'm broke.

I was actually looking at used OLED panels the other day and was shocked to find several older "bedroom" TVs with low hours for like 200-300€. And dozen free ones with some kind of board faults I'd probably have no issues fixing.
One of those will likely be my next display acquisition.

Why didn't they make it so a room is only hosted on one server and everyone participating can access it with an API from every other server? Why does every room need to be copied to every other server creating infinite bloat and making it impossible to run your own server? Are they retarded or is there a deeper reason?

>client forgets after every logout
Of course?
What is it supposed to do?
It is End-To-End encrypted.
If the server saves and remembers your keys for you, it isn't End-To-End.
You also specifically clicked on "Can't confirm", otherwise you wouldn't have gotten to the screen that you showed.
>>
>>108110604
>it asks me to recover. every single time. why?
Because it is E2EE
>is the idea that you're just supposed to never log out?
You don't even have to use a web app, you can use any native client.
If you want to always keep your encryption keys local, you indeed should not logout.
If it would keep your encryption keys while you are logged out, it would be lying to you. Log out means that the encryption keys of that session are dropped.
It can't be any other way.
>>
>>108110631
the server wouldn't have to save them... the client (and even your browser) could absolutely hang on to your keys for you, but it just doesn't
>>
>>108110670
>the client (and even your browser) could absolutely hang on to your keys for you
That would be insecure as fuck.
You would be living in a world of pretense. The encryption keys are far more important than your username and password. What dd the logout then achieve?

If you don't want to use E2EE, then just don't. You don't have to. Click away that warning, you will still be able to see every single unencrypted room. Or use a client that doesn't bug you with that warning.

Just consider it a 2FA login and it seems far less annoying. Imagine setting up a TOTP or passkey, and then you are annoyed that it asks you for a TOTP or a passkey on login.

>What's the fucking point? Desktop PCs are already modular.
The original vision of framework laptop is to have a nice case you can keep upgrading
I like the Cerberus X and the Johnsbo D40 and some Riotoro shit, or NCase, the smallest full-ATX cases you can get, you can use SFX-L 1000W and it will work with 5090 probably. Other than being space efficient, looking good, and being easy to work on, there's not much point at all vs. a normal case
I'll never go less than full ATX, there's just no point for a desktop, I want the option to add capture cards and NVME cards and shit, whatever they got now
They really needed to work on eliminating cables or making them invisible, because having cables flopping around everywhere is stupid as fuck. At least supply cables with exact pre-cut lengths and put them into some channel guides rather than zip-tying them all over the place, it's embarrassing

I also wish the CPU and GPU were both socketed, and both pull from a large pool of 128GB shared GDDR7, but nothing like that could ever happen
