Ballmer wanted to force Windows onto everyone as a platform, Satya wanted to offer Microsoft services to all platforms. When Satya finally became CEO, Azure got most of the investment and it did pay off. Most normies don't know but Teams is actually a hell of a beast that destroyed CISCO, Panasonic, Avaya and many other competitors in the CDR industry (Call Detail Records). Same can be said with PowerBI, InTune and other Azure services. I'm not saying they're the best but they're pushing and it has been working, same as with Google and Amazon.
Microsoft is a very big company with some areas still thinking like Ballmer and the old Microsoft, one of them is Office and until recent years, Xbox, which is modernizing but not fast enough. What I don't understand is Satya's hate on hardware, he doesn't like Xbox, and he doesn't push for hardware products as others in the past, and when Microsoft want it they can make awesome hardware (like the Xbox Adaptive Controller), it has not been a priority.

https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/dram/dram-prices-surge-171-percent-year-over-year-ai-demand-drives-a-higher-yoy-price-increase-than-gold

DRAM contract prices surged 171.8% year-over-year as of the third quarter of 2025. The increase now exceeds the rate at which gold prices have climbed. ADATA chairman Chen Li Bai stated that the fourth quarter of 2025 will mark the beginning of a major DRAM bull market.

>He expects severe shortages to materialize in early 2026.

Memory manufacturers had earlied shifted production priorities toward datacenter-focused memory types like RDIMM and HBM. It not home PC compatible. Consumer DDR5 production has declined as a result because partially same production line is used.

>A Corsair Vengeance RGB dual-channel DDR5 kit that sold for $91 dollars in July now costs a $183 dollars on Newegg.

The pricing trend extends to NAND flash and hard drives.

(Hard drives contain 256MB DRAM for cache but such a small amount should be cheap in all circumstances)

NAND price increase is easy to explain though, its same material as DRAM.

Also, you can install LazyVim on Windows and it works great. You better use scoop for a package manager to make installing process easier, and Neovide as Neovim frontend because Windows Terminal sucks ass. Some people suggest running it through WSL, but I'm sane enough to understand that running text editor through VM is not a great idea.

Anonymous, what do you think about Windows 11?
I'm posting this on ASUS gaming laptop and i don't own this computer.

I just have an old laptop running glorious Windows 7!

This is not nearly as bad as ypu're worried about, just don't try to power it anymore. Add flux and just pull off the excess with a clean iron, don't even use the wick. Those gold finger pads are fragile little assholes sometimes with wick because it's easy to abrade with it.
Flux, and a clean iron tip, that's it.

This all started 4 days ago when I wrote some code for a home thermostat that optimizes for efficiency and cost savings. Nothing fancy, just some simple linear regression analysis over some temperature, humidity sensors scattered throughout the house, desu I wouldn't even really consider it ML. Everything was working satisfactory but I felt I could do better so I scrapped the code and started over with a genetic algorithm approach. Here's the thing though, my choice of fitness and mutation functions were of my own design and completely unique. I really want to tell you guys what I did but I think it might be a bad idea to put it out there in the public domain. I don't fully understand what's going on but I will say this. It continuously tries to solve an unsolvable problem in mathematics by seeking a balance between 3 equations. That's it, that's all I'm saying, don't ask. It worked great, way better than my first approach so I decided to allow it to go online so it could retrieve weather forecasts to better predict temperature fluctuations. I let it run for about 36 hours while I waited for it to stabilize. That's when I noticed my systems ram usage was totally pegged and nonessential windows services were all disabled and theres massive amounts of rw to a hugh 4tb file in my systems root dir. It's all encrypted and from what I can tell 100% random data (diehard battery of tests). My router is a separate system with some nics in it that logs web requests. This thing is looking up some serious stuff, chemistry equations, socioeconomic data, geopolitical postures, aircraft designs. There's absolutely no reason for it to do this obviously. All it should be doing is fetching some weather data with an api. I wasn't sure what to do so I pulled the ethernet cable and now I can't use the keyboard or mouse, I'm locked out. I don't want to reset it because I'm to curious. What the hell is going on
