>>108511962> use caseThe use case is that some idiot thought his elevator wasn’t working because he “sensed” that it 1) had firmware (it doesn’t)2) somehow “knew” the firmware was written in C++ (it wasn’t)3) also “knows” that it was a memory access bug4) could NEVER be solved by rebooting the elevator controller—it never worked, it was shipped like that5) figured out the ONLY solution was to spend years developing a new languageBasically, a nutter/grifter.https://www.zdnet.com/article/rust-turns-10-how-a-broken-elevator-changed-software-forever/

We finally have a comprehensive list of AI slop software.https://codeberg.org/small-hack/open-slopwareThoughts?
I think a list like this is alright, of course people are going to make this into a completely black & white issue and some are going to boycott everything on that list. For me it's more like it's nice to be aware of how the software I use is developed, for example I'm seriously considering switching to drew's pre-AI contribution vim fork simply because I don't really care about the new features and I'm only expecting more bugs and security issues in the main version from here on out
why do they even care? they'll have killed themselves long before ai kills them
>AI one-drop rule
>>108509269great resource, thanks op
I'm starting to think these freaks just hate everything that isn't dick.
They key promising to do better but all its good at is transcribing meetings and making outlook search bearable. How can you own the entire ecosystem and your own integrated tool still blows this hard and that's just inside O365 the OS layer I don't even know what we're doing.
>>108506072It seems like a discount chatgpt. I just disregard it.
>>108506072Its for companies already locked into Microsoft. Has audit data if you already have Intune or Purview. I can't remember which. So you can see prompt and responses. It also has a "work" mode that uses your tenant SharePoint and office shit as a makeshift "RAG" AI. I can only imagine how effective that can be. The places I've been were a SharePoint nightmare. So many versions and renames of files and none actually used offices built in versioning.
>>108509764I noticed it's gotten a bit better recently, it's more like chatgpt now, a worse version but still. the benefit for me is it has access to internal documents at our company so it makes searching things easieroutside of a large corporation I'm not sure there's any benefit to using it
I tried the Copilot web app a few times and I thought it was fine. It seemed roughly as good as the other stuff out there at the time. Keep in mind this was a few months ago and I'm not the biggest chat bot user.
>>108506072I would only use it if I can type like "find all emails from this person that mentions this product and tell me the numbers", not "haha what is the weather??"

I need to transfer a CPU to a different motherboard, is this a dangerous exercise?...Gawd, by today's standards this kind of looks like an AI image. The only saving grace is I know it comes from the Windows 7 era...
>>108512659Easy as pie and the kind of thing that gets easier the more you do it.
>>108512659I've installed 100+ CPU's and done even more transfers between motherboards. Never once had any issues. Intel and AMD. Just don't stress it, don't drop it and you're good. Hell I built my current rig completely while 2/3 deep in a bottle of Dworek.

>>108508477At this point it makes more sense for government agencies to ditch Microslop's shit. Europeans are doing it, and it might work out well for them.Americans can just switch to Apple since they're corporate slaves, and get better quality. Not like their government is cost concious anyways.
BONUS: Netflix adds a fake film grain filter not present in the video to hide how shitty and starved the original streams fucking look Congrats AV1 clowns you played yourselvesThe future you all wanted lololololololololol
>>108508590No, people just prefer it over the alternative, which usually is denoised to hell garbage with all detail obliterated. Also, film grain was harder to notice in the past, since display resolution was much lower (effectively, a low-pass filter).
>>108503655>The original resolution was 320x224 I think.Well not shit then, you can't make something produced at 320x224 look good on any 1080p or 4K screen. Garbage in, garbage out.
>>108503655>The original resolution was 320x224 I think. There is literally zero reason to ever upscale pre-7th gen console videos past 480p.>but muh hd badge muh zoomers won't watch low res videosThey can die.
>>108508590for me it's not so much i 'like grain', rather that it's a sign of a good encode, as it's the first thing to get destroyed by compression. It also hides other artifacts like blurriness and banding. ideally video is better without it, real life isn't grainy, but a smooth picture is more often then not a sign of heavy compression
>>108509787because of how youtube works, it's better to upscale low res content then not, a 480p picture uploaded as 1440p looks better than leaving it as 480p
AI designed circuits are now the next thing
not AI, this is MLmachine learning has been used for decades now, whenever you hear about "AI" doing something nowadays, they mean this, very few of these "breakthroughs" involve LLMs deeper than for cleanup and organization
