Repo's forge is down, not sure if changing the link will register correctly or make a new entry.

Mostly ellipsis, omitting whole words because they're implied by the context. But they can be quite dangerous in AI image generation, AI can and will make assumptions that are not actually warranted by the context, but they're nevertheless preferred by its safety guidelines or whatever else is overriding its normal "logic".

I got a new PC
What do I do with the old one
>>
>>107842516
Keep it, store it, for emergency backup PC.
>>
>>107842547
Does it make sense to make it a server to stream movies or whatever? Or will a whole ass PC be overkill for that and waste electricity? It has Windows 11 Home on it and I only used it to set-up Windows specific stuff before moving it to my current Linux system when I first got it 3 months ago.
>>
Alright I posted last thread about getting a new chink lithium battery UPS and setting it up with NUT/WinNUT-Client.

I got the UPS yesterday, I knew the stock driver was shit and likely wouldn't work, so I installed libusb-win32 over the original driver, and NUT started talking to it no problem.

Got everything set up in my various NUT configuration files so the UPS will pop up with a windows dialog box whenever it switches over to battery from AC power and starts at 10 minute timer where it'll shut down windows automatically after 10 minutes, or if the battery charge level being reported falls below 30%.

I also made sure to get my NUT services set up with proper dependencies and set to restart itself if it crashes.

Gives me a bit more peace of mind that I'm no longer relying on the basic bitch windows power plan settings.

So far I tested pulling the power cable and watching it do it's popup window, 10 minute timer, and then it successfully shut itself down all without problem. I've also tested it by pulling the power plug, then waiting 5 minutes and plugging it back in, and it successfully stop the shutdown timer and goes back to monitoring.

I can provide the configuration files if anyone is interested, but it'd be useless without a corresponding NUT/WinNUT-Client installation, and the right UPS.

Here with my new scale (left).
It absolutely mogs the one on the right.
It's slightly more expensive - 10e vs 7e, but it's absolutely worth the extra money.

The old one:
>uses AA batteries. haven't had to replace after 2 months of use, but I hate the idea of needing to buy new ones at some point
>flimsy plastic cover and no rubber feet
>tiny plate, so anything like a bottle or a jar without a flat bottom won't sit, meaning you have to use a coaster or something flat below
>screen is up top, so most things will block your view of it. so you also have to use some small cup to gain height and stack on top like it's jenga

New one:
>built in battery, charges with usbc or micro usb
>it's bigger but I only use it at home so w/e
>better build quality even if it's still plastic
>has rubber feet to prevent sliding

Here in France if you want to use a calculator for some exams you need to turn on exam mode so you can't cheat, as people would write down their lesson in it
It's basically a mode where the ram is set back to default and you can't modify anything
>>
>>107842672
You can't, to exit it you have to plug it in a pc then launch their program to return to normal, or plug it to another calculator
There's a red light blinking when you're in exam mode so you can tell when it's on or not
>>
>>107842872
Well it's a way to prevent cheating, since people would just write down everything in their calculator
I'd rather have this than no calculator at all like we had for our accounting exams
>>
>>107842095
30xs is more modern. Keys feel pretty nice, and the extra screen real estate makes it easier to read.

There looks to be a port of Debian that supports the architecture but I don't know if it works. If it does you would be good to go.

https://wiki.debian.org/Ports/loong64
It also looks like NetBSD might support it to some degree as well.

Personally if I had one I would try and get NetBSD running if only for the bragging rights.
