Anon I need your help. I wanna escape being a wagie by doing freelance work as web designer or ux designer. Are there any /g/ approved tips you can share on accomplishing this lifestyle?
>>107626500If you're a wagie now, you have no in. Cheap freelance work is done by thirdies or startup-phase AI tools.>>107626243Aware me. I've been using this site https://meatfighter.com/ascii-silhouettify/ to generate ASCII art for Fastfetch. It's pretty good, but it seems pretty geared towards flat logos and I want to display some stuff with more depth. I've used some other programs which can generate that depth, but they don't export to txt files with ANSI color codes, which would be the only way for fastfetch to read them. Is there an easy way to splice these programs or to otherwise generate high-quality readable ASCII art? I don't know anything about programming, so i can't really build my own program from scratch.
Why is Hare losing maintainers? I thought it was supposed to be the next big thing ...
>>107626210the creator of hare andrew or whatever the fuck his name is who was a very vocal rust hater btw realized that he was wrong all along and the borrow checker is good. the problem is that this admittance also lead to people asking the question "then why not just use rust?".
>>107626210a 'systems language' with a joke back end, because somehow we are lead to believe that simple and slow makes for good systems programming
>>107627191That's the most embarrassing thing I've read in a while. Imagine designing a language from scratch and then talking about it like this. If even the architect can't vouch for it unequivocally how is anyone else supposed to. He's going to add a borrow checker as an afterthought? They designed the language around it in rust and it's still a complete mess, no way tacking it on afterwards will yield anything not retarded.
>>107626210I really like Hare. I started writing a web server in Hare, but stopped. I should continue. I am sure the language has matured more since then.
>>107627566>He's going to add a borrow checker as an afterthought? To be fair, he crated Hare because he's a C programmer who wanted C but with modern language features. He didn't prioritize memory safety while developing Hare, as the motivations for the language rested elsewhere. I agree that adding borrow checking to the language at a late stage is probably a mistake, but considering the direction of the industry, he pretty much has to make his language memory safe in order for people to want to use it for anything that is not just a hobby project.
Game developers are cucks. They earn peanuts, need to know physics, math, hardware, and optimization techniques, and spend their time and effort just to make man-children happy.Pathetic.

>>107613538kek, I stopped caring about getting a career as a game programmer when I was in college learning various compsci topics years ago and realized the starting salary was peanuts compared to other tech industries and the churn rate for employment was high and then there is the literal no work life balance when crunch time rolls around.

And why is it macos?
Wangblows. The only reason it's still there is not because it's a good OS it's because of software compatibility. Force people to develop for other platforms and eventually people will be happier. MacOS for production, Linux for gayming and servers.
At this point, Windows. It would be less painful for everyone to move to MacOS/Linux.

I don't regret switching to MacOS. It has all the capabilities of Linux, but is an actually stable just werks OS.
>>107610944Which is why the Arm version of Arch Linux runs on the M-series using virtualization.

>>107610783I've never personally owned one, but always have gotten a mac for my work, and have always enjoyed it. I just use the terminal for everything anyways, but the native terminal is linux enough to work fine for me, and I find it much more pleasant than WSL. The laptops are also completely caked up in terms of CPU / RAM, and after switching to ARM I don't I've even heard the fan on it once. It does have a lot of things I don't like. The built-in kernal protection is pretty annoying and fucks up important tools like gdb, but since everything I work with gets ran on docker anways it really doesn't get in the way. The windowing system is also bizarre and causes me issues, but again I spend 99% of my time in the terminal / browser so its not that big of a deal. Major OS updates are always pretty fear inducing as well, since it always causes breaking changes somewhere which can be hard to debug. It's fine. It unironically just werks better than windows. I think genuinely productive people don't care that much about their operating system.
>>107610783>but is an actually stable just werks OS.Is this a thread about how to spot the njudea user that uses his computer for only browsing bluesky and gay dating sites?

If RAM is so expensive and AI needs a lot of it, why won't they just optimize the AI?
Scam altman does not want that because he wants a monopoly. It's not working because his competition is working to optimize while he's trying to brute force while buying all of the supply to cripple them.

>>107625529its no conspiracy. its psychologyhttps://inv.nadeko.net/search?q=us+vs+them+hardwiredHuman brains are fundmentally flawed. They are meant turn the mundane into a grand battle of good vs evil . us vs them dichotomy. Rather its1. MAGA deeming mexicans and trans people the outgroup to cast all blame on, while claiming Donald Trump is the hero to save the world from evil degeneracy. There brains just make up an epic story that doesn't match real life facts at all.2.Old me hallucating all FOSS problems come from Coraline AE and to save the FOSS world from SJWs. 3. A mentally unwell transgirl on Mastodon calling everyone who disagrees her a nazi and fantasizing about a neo Soviet Union reforming and crushing the "capitalist patriarchy" and getting revenge fantasies. That's what our brains do best, hallucinate an epic narrative, divide humans into groups and claim our group is the best and the others are those subhuman outgroups to battle. That partially explains most of human violence for all of history. Many political factions do the us vs them + epic struggle format repackaged in countless ways but only a few actually reach levels that make them dangerous to society. MAGA is dangerous because unlike SJWs. MAGA is actually succeeding. Some SJWs may fantasize about a bloody communist revolution and may have isolated highly condemable violent cases like Kirk's assasination. But its completely outnumbered by ICE agents treating peaceful hispanics like subhumans and trying to make people think they are violent savages.
