Don't buy anything OTHER THAN IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
>Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Excellent keyboards, tactile feel and quiet + the TrackPoint
>Great durability: magnesium roll cage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop
>Easy to repair (most models), upgrade & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model, spare parts easy & cheap to obtain
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support

That looks like a T440s not T440p. If it's yours, enjoy your ULV CPU and 12 GB RAM cap I guess.

>>107750575
Extremely flimsy for a ThinkPad despite its thickness. The hinge mounts of the top cover break easily. Get a L540 or L440 instead, or if you don't need the optical drive bay, one of the later 14-inch ones.

Buying a used gaming laptop instead of a Thinkpad, what's the caveat?
Do they get "obsolete" faster?
>>
>>107751431
They usually have marginal cooling solutions that aren't maintained, thus they've been subjected to extreme overheating repeatedly. They're not designed for durability, they figure gaymur retards are going to upgrade every 2-3 years anyway.

That said if you find one in really pristine condition, the only drawbacks are the overabundance of edgy design, rgbshit, and the weight. They're going to have "fast" panels, not necessarily "pretty" ones, though they're not mutually exclusive and barebones Thinkpads will usually have shitty panels too, and no discrete GPU.

There have been anons that have picked a Legion [something] over a P series for various justified reasons.

Lol, no they're not.
Your OWN voltage is higher than mine retard.

>MEM VDD 1.4V

Mine is 1.38V

The VSOC voltage and VDDQ are a bit high, but not to the point of concern and will in no way hinder my performance.

I COULD tighten up my voltage a bit, but it's hardly at the point of concern where someone would say it's "too high".

None of my voltages will damage any of my components and it's stable as hell, there is zero reason to adjust settings unless I want to squeeze out the final bit of timings (CL26 or CL28) but why should I bother? There are diminishing returns with that final 1-2% that are usually a lot less stable (without your 1.4v+ VDD).

paredit is ancient. Probably existed before those mappings.
>>
>>107749547
Before ielm existed, people needed a way to see the result of an expression.
>>
>>107746090
>sure you can undo the rebind
For the curious, this is how you do that.
(keymap-unset paredit-mode-map "M-s")

Now you have the original M-s back while using paredit-mode.
>>
>>107746090
M-s in paredit does paredit-splice-sexp.
;; Start with this.
;; Put your cursor anywhere inside the "baz".
(foo bar "baz")
;; Then hit M-s.
(foo bar baz)
;; Then hit M-s again.
foo bar baz

It seems like it would be useful, but in practice, I use M-<up> (paredit-splice-sexp-killing-backward) the most. For example, if something were wrapped in a progn and I didn't want the progn wrapping anymore, I use M-<up> to unwrap the block.

help:paredit-splice-sexp
help:paredit-splice-sexp-killing-backward
>>
>>107751706
...so losing M-s isn't as big of a loss as it seems, especially if you use the original M-s a lot. I'm not sure what a good rebinding for paredit-splice-sexp would be. The other splices are on M-<up> and M-<down>.

The iPhone globally outsells every Android consistently every year. Why are all these fake issues that you are posting about not being mentioned by anybody that I know for decades who has been using an iPhone? People will literally be losing their jobs globally if everything you said was true because they were not able to make it to work on time in multiple different occasions. You are literally posting low IQ bait and you don't even post in coherent English.

I said it happened with months in-between. Other users report the same. Some once a week others once a month. There are no consistency in this issue and people do lose their jobs all the time. You won't get fired for it being once a month retard low iq subhuman

- Resolution is barely enough to render text now
- This requires 4090 for acceptable visual quality
- Still shit FOV (better FOV would require 5090)
- Pimax has more FOV but is heavy as brick and has optical distortions
- Displayport can barely handle the bandwidth, and wireless adds latency and compression
- Shit software compatibility, no standard controller layout (Valve's new headset has yet another new controller layout), SteamVR's remap tool is shittiest most convoluted thing I've ever used (if the game even supports it)
- Discomfort both physically and optically. It's fun for short experiences, not for 8 hour gameplay sessions.

Pico 4. It's just that zucc is already dumping prices heavily with quests so pico 4 isn't any cheaper than that, but they're both super cheap. You're paying 300-400 bucks for a small 4k display, a small computer that can run PS3 tier games and 3 motion controllers. How much cheaper can it be. Nintendo is asking for 100 bucks just for 2 joycons
