I was never into AI before, so AMD was my go to. Solid 1440p gaming and shit posting and some video editing. I didn't need more. Now that I want to do AI.... ROCm and the lack of tensor cores.. it's not worth the headache. Now I have to find a used card to replace my 7900

Looks like Windows has fewer 7900 variants supported than Linux at the moment:
https://rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/radeon-ryzen/en/latest/docs/compatibility/compatibilityrad/windows/windows_compatibility.html
versus
https://rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/radeon-ryzen/en/latest/docs/compatibility/compatibilityrad/native_linux/native_linux_compatibility.html

But that suggests that support on Windows might catch up at some point. My Strix Point laptop just gained support a few months ago, getting 6.4 and then 7.1.

I can suggest an equation that has the potential to impact the future:

E = mc2 + AI

this equation combines Einstein's famous equation E=mc2, which relates energy (E) to mass (m) and the speed of light (c), with the addition of AI(Artificial Intelligence). By including AI in the equation, it symbolizes the increasing role of artificial intelligence in shaping and transforming our future. This equation highlights the potential for AI to unlock new forms of energy, enhance scientific discoveries, and revolutionize various fields such as healthcare, transportation, and technology.
>>
AI removed all language difference.

Just write the function in whatever you know and tell AI to translate it to whatever target language you have in mind.

I'd even go as far as to claim that in the far future there will be no compilation step anymore. AI will just directly translate your instructions in whatever language directly to the most efficient machine code.

I've used high end Logitech gaming mice for two decades, until I bought this 2 years ago for 50 euro. The Edifier G3M is a fucking fantastic mouse. So simple, so light, the exact right amount of buttons, good switches, good battery and also works well in wired. Build quality is great.
If it breaks, I will buy it again.

This is perfection. The only thing that would make it 100% perfect is if it was wireless with a rechargable battery.

I use this one now. PIPER has me able to use it on Linux. The layout is perfect for browsing if set G6 and G7 to Left and Right arrows and now I can skip in videos perfectly.
Fuck, even the price when it dropped was perfection! It was like $20.

Every PC game (except maybe MMOs) is perfect with it. FPS? All actions can be bound to the mouse. ARPG? Perfect number of buttons. Strategy? Can play it without touching the keyboard.
And what did logitch do after perfecting the 9 button mouse? DISCONTINUED TO PUSH SUBSCRIPTION SOFTWARE SLOP

Man fuck Logitech, they gave us perfection then ripped it away to sell netflix subscription mouses.

It's so sad that we can't have things like this anymore and instead get RGB slop and glass panels. Imagine, how pleasant to have one giant 400mm fan spinning at a virtually silent 500RPM, which blew enormous amounts of cool air directly onto every single chip, component, and heatsink on the board, as well as your storage devices and PSU. Now we have to deal with 40mm chipset fans running at ludicrous RPMs and oversized fuckhuge expensive air coolers for the CPU.

Are there any signs of hope for true aircooling enthusiasts?

Because phone and laptop sucks for reading.
As someone who takes a 1000+ km train ride every couple months I used to read on a Samsung tablet. It worked sure but battery life was ass (needed a powerbank to get through it) and even on low brightness it fucks your eyes up after a while.
Actually reading is not like checking fucking twitter or shitposting here.
I bought a Kobo Libra Colour and it's a complete game changer. 40 day battery life (I get around 35 days without charging) and it's extremely nice to read on. Looks like a normal book.

#define __NR_brk                12

now THIS is a strange syscall. it's always a good sign when the notes section advises you not to use a function, lol. if you haven't read any of the other man pages yet, go read this one: https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/brk.2.html
>the actual Linux system call returns the new program break on success.
>On failure, the system call returns the current break.
such a bizarre api. there's lots of bookkeeping and hoops required if you dare to use this syscall for your allocator. but it's pretty neat to use in toy examples. it requires a very nonstandard approach

Whats un-unixy about it? It says it maps files, and as is the Unix way, everything is a file, including generic uninitialized memory.
>>
>>107875608
>Whats un-unixy about it?
UNIX treats files as "streams" but mmap makes a distinction between real files (on disk) and UNIX "files."

>and as is the Unix way, everything is a file, including generic uninitialized memory.
That's not the UNIX way at all. "Everything is a file" is a bastardization of "everything is an object" which was the new innovation of the 70s and 80s. The number 1 is an object in "everything is an object" because "everything" really means "everything" but in UNIX not everything is a file. If "everything was a file" the same way "everything is an object" then each character in this post would be a "file" and all the buttons and windows would be "files" but that's not how UNIX works. Actually JavaScript and web browsers are based on the everything is an object principle too.
>>
>>107874979
>UNIX people did their usual trick of saying it's bad
You post this in every thread and I still don't buy it. Can you find an actual quote of them saying it's bad? AFAIK they didn't have it because of hardware constraints, Multics was designed for (and only ran on) much fancier machines than early Unix.
Post your source or stop claiming this.

>>107875685
Ritchie's Unix retrospective paper credits Multics's stream I/O. I don't think "everything is an object" ever came into it, my best guess about the influence is "everything is a stream" (Multics also provided this at a high level) -> "everything is a fd" (easier if you do raw syscalls all the time) -> "everything is a file".
