you're going to feel better when you stop caring about it. I have a lot of kaczynski adjacent anti tech sentiment especially towards smartphones but the world you grew up is not returning. Western people especially today want to live in the past but you will feel much better when let yourself go with the flow and accept that world changes constantly. cherish the past but find good things to have hope about the future
People never wanted cars before they got to use them. A lot of people were skeptical, and cars have negatively changed human life by eroding local communities through city planning as an example. Most technology has affected human life negatively because human psychology is not adapted to social and economic structure of modern world but there's nothing you can do about it. you could become amish, but if you want to participate in modern society you just have to accept that it's here to stay. For now the techonology has stagnated and its influence seems to be somewhat major but still limited. Just treat it as another tool. I've challanged myself to utilize LLMs, try to find a way it makes your life easier. Google search has become useless, my favorite way of thinking about LLMs is as an aggregate of knowledge you can find on the internet. I use it to summarize things for i know other people have asked. I like using it for cooking, it's pretty nice for making problems for learning especially language learning, you can push it to explain to you things that would've taken hours to research on their own about biology or economy if you know how it works.
yeah the internet is botted to shit and it only accelerated the slopification of products but what can you do? replace your time on the internet with something else, maybe old media? exercise? learn something new?

Like with drawing AI will not literally steal your PC and physically prevent you from coding, it will just devalue it to the point of irrelevancy.
>Actually Indians
If Indians aren’t posting in these coding generals then the effect is the same. Being unhireable because you are not born in poopland is effectively the same as AI automating it, both result in the same, coding general posters losing hope in coding and abandoning the job/hobby.

Yes. But it's clearly a long time away from being the next step in human evolution, as people think it is. I wish the bubble would burst, so AI could advance, but at a slower scale. It's not worth wrecking the economy over.

I am. I "converted" one of my installs to normal arch following a github gist but it doesn't really matter. The the inclusion of firewall by default and the dependencies the eOS stuff pulls in (meld, stoken) are annoying but can be turned off during install if you pay attention. I would also like to see UKI added as a boot solution instead of grub/systemd.

With this premise we know the highest frequencies will not be used since they have a far shorter range (a few 100 m). Monitoring sub-GHz frequencies will be sufficient. Bandplans are public information.

Right. This was a land rush because all the tech companies are very familiar with the first-mover effect and how powerful it is. Microsoft has bungled so many things, they REALLY didn't want to fuck it up this time. So they spent outrageously. And it's not paying off. Google was a bit more circumspect and built out in ways that complemented what they already have. OpenAI is just going to fold in a year or two because they're being run by a scam artist. Some of the better code tools will probably survive and get big. But these trillions of spend are going to evaporate.

I (2001 zoomer) used to be addicted to Xat chatrooms, you know the ones you could embed into websites? I would talk with people on there for hours, even convinced my dad once to get me a $20 gift card to buy some bullshit emoticons or whatever on it. I miss when that was popular, it was a lot of fun. But now every website has a discord so you can't join those chat rooms. Despite being more fragmented the internet felt more social back then (the 2000s). I fear we'll never go back, at least not on the clearnet

Means replacing aspects of humanness with AI. So rather than using ChatGPT to cheat, you're using ChatGPT to replace your thoughts. How many people ask ChatGPT "how should I feel about this right now"? That is what it means. We're giving up what makes us human and becoming driven by the machine. AI is the future.

>>
>>107927129
How can these tards understand code if they're not even learning to code in the first place? They are learning to put a bunch of shit into a prompt and crossing their fingers that AI can figure it all out for them. They don't realize they are making themselves irrelevant. It's really sad. Ie. for what the fuck does a manager need some tard to enter prompts into AI for the answer if the manager can just do that himself? Idiots.
>>
>>107924951
>Engineering is all about following some very strict rules and constraints,
You think that because you are using someone elses creativity lol.
Read high level engineering & math texts; they sound like written by philosophers.
Slepians paper on 'indistinguishable' is one of my favorites.

Does anyone else hate modern YouTube? I miss the times when the YouTube homepage wasn't a fucking feed but just the latest videos from your subscriptions. While the "Browse" button ('member that?) at the top would take you to the page with all the viral videos from across the world.

But now, being on YouTube feels like you're hooked onto some kind of drug, because the algorithm tracks your viewing habits and patterns and fills your feed with videos that will keep you endlessly watching one video after another, and by the end of the day you feel like your brain literally rotted a bit from mindlessly consooming bullshit content you didn't need or ask for.

Not to mention, they way YouTube videos themselves are produced these days seems like they're specifically designed to induce anxiety and break your mind from over-stimulation.

Why does the internet seem to get "emptier" by the day? I mean most places seem like a ghost town with barely any activity. It almost seems like people just disappeared, which shouldn't be possible.

This isn't a schizo post either, just a genuine observation. What is causing the apparent slowdown of all online activity? Where are all the people going? Are people just slowly disconnecting from the online space and doing something else with their lives? Was there a massive amount of bot activity everywhere that has suddenly stopped over the last couple of years, which makes the internet seem slower than it used to be?

The quality of the interactions online has also seen a massive drop. On /g/ 10 years ago during the last ram price spike you had genuinely good discussions and insightful posts about the situation. Now it's just a bunch of pepe pictures with "Lmao I got mine" and almost no genuine insight such as calculating the die-sizes between fabs and calculating output and decrease in supply from HBM to calculate when the supply shock should be over. This was just a random example but even hackernews is slowly dying out.

A couple of potential factors that I can think of
>Everyone primarily interacts through places like discord which isn't on the public web anymore
>Since 2022 LLM breakthrough most people interact with their LLM instead of with other humans online anymore
>Economic situation is so bad that people are too busy with work to use the internet anymore
>Internet quality has dropped so much that there is a downward spiral of quality users leaving the internet, which lowers quality, which causes more to leave.

I'm guessing it's the last mentioned option because I am also considering leaving this place (not 4chan, the entire internet) as it's not even worth visiting these places anymore.

IRC is much simpler than discord
get a graphical IRC client like Pidgin or Konversation, find a popular IRC server like irc.libera.chat (port 6697 for TLS)
you will be able to chat in many channels without an account, but some channels require you to be a logged in user at libera.chat
you can find guides here: https://libera.chat/guides/
