Which one is the best if my main concern is the longevity and quality of the product? The oled version of the steam deck seems like the best pick but I feel it's dated. The legion go series is appealing with it's specs but I feel its lifespan and long-term quality would be worse.
>>108524047>>108524047Weight of such setup? looks lighter than new legion go 2 desu. Shame that amd apu is so expensive. Gpd win 5 is also nice but 7inch screen is too small. Prices of these things are joke

I'd try to find a used ROG Ally/Ally X, or Steam Deck. Maybe used versions of the newer devices but they're so freaking expensive, kinda not worth it. Otherwise I'd wait for the next generation, maybe the panther lake handhelds will save us but I doubt it.
>>108523928probably the steam deck.i think both asus and lenovo abandoned their older handhelds already, meaning that they wont receive driver updates (i think linux drivers are still getting updated tho)also, the rog ally z1e felt very, very fragile to me. i had 2, one of them came with the right trigger broken and the other one had a "wonky" joystick. had to rma both of them.
They created the most retarded module system in human history. Even the shitty headers are better.

How dependent are you on the cloud? Does anybody do local backups any more?
I love OneDrive. Never had a single issue with it. Doesnt delete any of my files even torrents with cracks and pirated movies along with torrent files have never triggered anything. I learned my lesson when I accidentally through away my 4tb hard drive away with my lunch in college and lost everything from pre 2018 that was backed iup on it. Now I have like 5 HDDs in cases in a drawer but thats mainly for offloading like a years files at a time so I can free up hard drive space. And I dramatically over save when it comes to work so my storage fills up.

I want to buy a 14.2" MacBook Pro, but I can't decide on the chip. My tasks are:1. Various daily tasks, such as web browsing, potentially some multitasking.2. Software development, webshit and some C/C++/Go/Rust.3. DAW4. Image editing, no more than one 5000x5000 (or less) image at a time.5. 3D modeling, 3D animation, 3D rendering (if it's animated in the first place, then it's no more than 5-10 minutes). The choice is between the base M5, the M5 Pro and the M5 Max chips. M5 Max is obviously the best, but I've heard bad things about battery life, thermal throttling, fan noise of the M5 Max chip in the 14" chassis, so I'm really unsure about it. M5 Pro is next best thing, but it has a significantly weaker GPU, the M5 Max's GPU is twice as powerful. I'm not considering the base M5 too much, but I've decided to include it anyway. In general it feels a little weird to me how I got upsold to the M5 Pro from the base M5, but I can't figure out at all whether I want to go to the M5 Max even though the increase in price is roughly the same. What do you suggest?
>>108525587Well just because it can be done on an M1 doesn't mean it's an optimal variant. I want something actually powerful enough to do it all snappy and quickly
>>108525459Good question, this is actually my first MacBook and the reason I'm buying it is because, essentially, I want a unix-like environment for dev work, while still being able to run a DAW and something like Photoshop, i.e. "creative" apps. Currently I own a cheap laptop that I don't use to do anything except web browsing, and the reason for that is that I've always been using a desktop PC for everything at home, and the laptop has been delegated to being a "mobile computer" that I only use outside of home, but I think I want to change this with this MacBook purchase. The idea is that perhaps my laptop will become the primary computing device, with a docking station + monitor + keyboard + mouse at home, and a desktop PC will do things that don't feel like they're "fit" for a laptop.Regarding the desktop PC, I honestly don't know exactly because I (try to) run stuff in a Windows VM and everything's lagging really hard, but it probably wouldn't be lagging outside of a VM.
>>108524734M5 PRO 18 core cpu has the same cpu core amount as m5 max the only difference are GPU cores.Just buy the 16 inch m5 pro 18 cpu core version.

>>10852640014 inch has worse cooling, it's not enough for the 40core gpu in MAX version, it will overheat and throttle the performance.buy used m3 ultra studio with 80 gpu cores.

>>108523384ye, 's probably their killing product that hold all reputation, hehehe
>>108523189Fuck them. There's a reason people say the name meansOneRichAssholeCalledLarryEllisionOracle’s revenue model relies heavily on incredibly complex, Byzantine licensing agreements. It is remarkably easy for an IT department to accidentally violate their terms—for example, by spinning up a VM and suddenly being on the hook for licensing every physical CPU core in that entire virtualized cluster.Instead of helping customers correct these mistakes, Oracle is famous for weaponizing compliance audits. They send in auditors to find these accidental violations and use them as leverage to bleed out massive, unbudgeted fines or strong-arm companies into signing new, more expensive cloud contracts, fucking those companies. Many IT professionals view this as corporate extortion.Oracle’s sales teams rarely target the folks who actually use their products. Instead, they focus on wining and dining C-level executives and upper management (rich retards), selling them on "enterprise-grade" promises and long-term service contracts. The executives sign the multi-million-dollar deal, and the engineering and IT teams are suddenly forced to implement, maintain, and support software we actively advised against.Comment too long.
