Why shouldn't I use pic related?
>been running for 18 years
>no ads
>basic IMAP/SMTP support (unlike ProtonMail), and decent webmail GUI
inb4 based in US. I'm assuming that my emails will be collected no matter what. I just don't want them scanned for ads.

Alternatives:
>ProtonMail (running for just 4 years, mentioned before, no IMAP support b/c it's ALLEGEDLY e2e)
>Posteo (ugly website imo, running for 8 years, shitty domain name to say verbally to English-speakers)

Am I missing something?
>>

if you don't give a shit about people looking at your email just use gmail
>>
>>107712089
I'm removing all my previous mail accounts and since I still need a mail for a few basic things, I'm looking for a "private" provider.
So far, the options I have are Protonmail and Tutanota, with 1GB of space for free. For more space the way to go seems to be Infomaniak (20GB), but I don't really like their public declarations regarding privacy.
>>
I have been using it for about 5 years now and no complaints. I was able to find out that a scumbag company used my credit card to try and order an iphone from best buy by using the "masked email" feature which was cool.

You won't see it here because it's not le anti-glowie turboencrypted offshore server schizomail.

They don't even need collusion to form a cartel. All they need to do (which is literally what they already do) is not seriously undercut their competitor and both make bank.
AMD has no interest in heavily undercutting Nvidia because they already sell all their stock, they wouldn't be able to meet demand if the prices were that much lower, and all they would do is force Nvidia to lower their prices (which they can easily do). This would only benefit the consumer, but wouldn't benefit either company.
So why would they do it?
AMD keeps selling ever so slightly lower than Nvidia, sells an insignificant amount of GPUs compared to Nvidia, both make as much bank as they can. That's it.

This is how business works everywhere btw. You don't need backroom deals to have collusion and price fixing.

I like my dell 1440p 27" but I probably should have gotten 1080p. There hasn't been any benefit to this weird in-between resolution and UI in games is always too small. 1080p is a lot nicer for practical use.

...or you could use commands on files with fzf. Blazing fast. Instead of typing everything out, filter the list and press tab on the things, then the keybind that does the stuff you want to the things. It's less keystrokes than typing out 10 filepaths and faster to use than any fm. I've been trying to get an llm to spit out a wrapper script for xclip that allows me to copy and paste whatever I want, but xclip apparently has some problems that I'm not going to be able to get around until someone makes a better clipboard tool for x11. So, the ability to copy and paste images is my only remaining use case for a fm of any kind. Instead of typing out the filepath as an argument, I just press ctrl-f, opening fzf with all the files in the directory. I can still just type the path like I would otherwise, but now I have the opportunity to easily do file management tasks 'on the way' to do something else.
>>
>>107693610
>>107712905
>>107713002

I will also note that with autocd enabled, when you open the fzf-file-widget (my ctrl-f), you can just cd to the directories in the list by pressing enter.
>>
>>107713021
**assumine there's nothing else on the command line and you aren't trying to complete an argument or something.
>>
cd, ls, mv ,cp ,rm
>>
>>107713095
I would also like to point out that fzf has a preview window that can be configured to show file metadata. Why type out so many commands when you can simply browse a list with up and down to get a clearer idea of what you are looking at? I understand everyone's despisal for file mangers, but there's nothing more efficient than fuzzy finding a string in a searchable list, where you already know the fewest chars to match the things you need most often.

Why is rechargeable battery advice always so inconsistent?

I charge my phone to 100% and let it drop to 0% before charging because phones are made for retards and 100% and 0% should already be physical spec 80% and 20% and if I'm wrong I don't care anyway, my phone is 7 years old and its battery still holds for 3 days unless I run some bing bing wahoo.

If you use the GNU Image Manipulation Program, there is something wrong with you mentally.

It is the only thing preventing me from using a Linux-based OS on a permanent basis. I need Photoshop to work and WINE is buggy as shit. The GIMP is a shit alternative.

Prove me wrong. Why would anyone deliberately use this garbage?
54 replies and 18 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107705654
I think the reason for that is that Photopea is a Photoshop clone that tries to replicate its features and design. GIMP was never meant to be a Photoshop clone or even a true alternative. It's an image editor designed by programmers, and it shows. The UI is awful, some basic features were added in GIMP 3.0 that Photoshop has had for decades, and many are still missing. The type tool is still awful, and the lack of vector layers means that if you create a shape and later decide to make it bigger or change the stroke width or color, you need to recreate it.

If you only use Photoshop for basic designs, you could replace it with GIMP, but everything is more convoluted.

I have an AI plugin that makes vector shapes. I manually modified it so it does an outline on a checkbox

https://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21708

I'm so hesitant to say I have AI plugins because then normies will assume I'm nothing but a vibe coder when that isn't true at all. Most of my GIMP plugins were made long before I touched AI. The first AI plugins came in April 2025. The first time I studied GEGL was June 2021
>>
>>107713011
Even without my plugins you can change the color and stroke wdith.

For example gegl:color-overlay can change the color and gegl:styles (that I made) can adjust the outline.
>>
>>107705635
Try Krita, though it's for artists, not some wannabe.
>>
>>107712546
I see, that looks handy. I'll install it. I normally don't like massive bundles of plugins because they clutter the menus but this one in particular is very nice. When I did it by myself I think a mix of layer modes, masks and NDE effects were used

I always wonder, is there something you're doing with all those phones or is it just for consumerism/fun?
And most importantly, so far this gen which phone left you with the best impression?

I got kind of bored of changing flagships every year, at some point the improvements are too minuscule to justify (at least for me).

Great, I'm glad you agree that we need mandatory speed governors in every car in order to be certified as road legal.
They don't even need to be "smart" ones with dynamic speed adjustment. Just take the highest legal speed in the jurisdiction, add 20% as a margin for emergency maneuvering, and help reduce the number of deaths from drunk drivers and medical emergencies. No recording where and when you are driving. No mass surveillance. Just the proven technology of "constrict the gas flow when the wheel is spinning too fast."
>>
The fun part is that immigrants will remain unaffected. Most of them use those fake paper plates so will never receive the fine anyway.

>>
>>107709926
this exact mini laptop is quite terrible, the mouse buttons are literally just keyboard buttons and they use software on windows to emulate the mouse buttons (if anyone knows a non-janky way of turning keyboard buttons into mouse buttons on linux i kinda need that information)

also the audio interface doesn't seem to have linux drivers, or at least i never managed to get sound on that thing, the keyboard is uncomfortable but that's expected, the touchscreen is unreliable and sometimes just stop working, it does not have type C charging which for a brand new device is quite unacceptable
