how are zoomers STILL this clueless about technolo/g/y and how it's used to spy on you in the big 2026?
they put their head in the sand and pretend none of this affects them or even exists.

hell, i don't even get why do millennials like to pin every normie thing to zoomers? i mean i am a zoomer, sure, but it's not like that automatically disqualifies me from ever dealing with tech, in fact i am the first person people informally ask for tech support, and the people in question mostly consist of people who are not of my generation

Because Zoomers were the first gen to grow up with iPads and smartphones, and there have been numerous articles written about how younger people who exclusively use mobile devices are totally flummoxed by anything even slightly deeper than surface level traditional desktop UI, let alone understanding how anything actually works on a technical level.

It’s generalizing to say “all Zoomers are tech dumb” but it’s based on the fact that there are simply more layers of abstraction between how we interact with devices as opposed to how things were for Millennials. Keep in mind that iOS devices didn’t even have a Files app for a long time, and the iPad only recently allowed for desktop-esque windowing of applications; that’s the sort of stuff I’m talking about. What might have used to require inserting a CD, opening the D: drive, double-clicking an EXE, and going through an install process is now just a web page. Software is just less difficult to use, and therefore doesn’t necessitate developing tech literacy even to the limited degree that it used to.

what's the use-case for knowing how technology is used to spy on you?

of course, you would only know that if you only lived in a free country, pablo.

Do you watch any inspirational youtube channels?

I don't want to watch 30 minute tutorials, maybe something shorter.

Any channel suggestions?

Idk why people complain about this. When the battery gets low, just plug it in and head out and go get a cup of coffee at the local coffee shop. And if you make friends with the barista sometimes they'll add a shot of Whisky to your coffee, which really perks things up. Some times my local barista adds not just one but two shots of whisky while I wait for my magic mouse to recharge. The trouble then is getting back home when I'm drunk. I usually just take an Uber back home from that point. But then my car is left at the coffee shop. I actually just walk back to the coffee shop after I'm dropped back home to get my car. By then I'm actually a little bit thirsty so i pop in for a cup of coffee. My favorite bartender recognizes me and asks if I would like a shot of whisky. I'm thinking, why not. So, by then it's about 9PM and the place is closing. I get in my car just wait until about 12AM until I'm perfectly safe to drive. I make it back home and find that my magic mouse has fully re-charged! I know it might seem a bit weird that you need to pause when your magic mouse needs re-charging but just give it a few weeks. Trust me, you'll love your Mac.

Can't wait for homosexual anon to start spamming again edition

Lichicx Lucy switches arrived. They're so much better than the WEKT Lucies it's not even funny

Something I didn't realize until I compared them side-by-side is that the WEKT has a lot less stem wobble, but that causes the keystroke to feel obstructed. The Lichicx travels freely and smoothly and feels perfect. And the bottom-out is so much nicer.

Also the WEKT had crazy double-input problems with my Daring Run (to be fair this is partially the board's fault, somehow it brings out the worst in switches) whereas Lichicx has none.

If a silent linear with a firm bottom-out that sounds like good rubber domes is something you'd be into, buy some before it's too late (Lichicx is no more, this was the last round produced by them):

You don't have any idea how badly chink boards can fail to meet a low bar.

E.g.: When you press a key, would you like to input that key once, or twice? Would you consider it acceptable if your keyboard decided to sometimes say you pressed it twice?

It's been a feature on TVs and phones for a long time, it's only desktop monitors that are lagging behind.
And it is strange because even normies these days know about "low eye strain" monitors.

>>107841488
Yes even my old TV from 2012 had an ambient light sensor, it's just desktop monitors that don't have one for the most part.

Corporations have a right to try and not go bankrupt.

If selling data helps them stay afloat and continue delivering a great product, is it really that bad? Your data is being collected and sold all over the web anyway, it's not like it matters.

I already use r3dfox. Basically firefox but without new, metrosexual UI, no corporate memphis or brave, hard working foids jump scaring you on the first launch, no AI and other faggotry. You also have container-tabs as a build in feature, and the browser works fine on Windows 7 and Vista (or even on XP with one core api).

I would like a zune mini style form factor music player with headphone jack and a minimal phone with just maps, rcs thread texting, qr reader, email, and a button keyboard. This was my old set-up in like 2010 and it's just nicer than having the distraction brick in my pocket.

This + the Koss Porta Pros were my shit in like 2016
I remember the audio jack was haphazardly soldered on and would come loose. I had to pry open every Sansa I owned and resolder the damn thing on. But it was a weird point of pride for me somehow, like "see? I can actually fix this fucking thing when it breaks"
In the end, they all died within 3 years because of their chinkshit batteries failing and swelling up like balloons.
I long for a simple little music player with physical buttons like you wouldn't believe. Sadly no one really owns a music library anymore and just stream everything. I cannot imagine a world where making a device like that is financially viable anymore.

I still have a working Zen 8GB. The only thing I hated about it is that it never truly shuts OFF. It just goes into a low power state so it eventually drains the battery down dead. The only way to slow this down (but not stop it) is to use an unfolded paperclip in the reset hole. But that nukes any settings you have made to the phone. I don't use it much except when I'm on the riding mower doing the lawn or collecting leaves. The headphone jack also won't work with modern wired headphones as they have 3 rings and this jack can only handle 2 on the plug so you have to get an extension. I use a right angle extension to get around this.

The Zen was good for it's time. But it is an annoying piece of shit by today's standards. To this day I hate Creative because of their refusal to release firmware that solved the battery drain issue. I hope they went out of business.

I think years of it being repeated people were really lonely from society breaking down was actually true and this tech just happened to be perfect to fill in the gap of personal connection people craved.

The question is how long it will take to enshittificate lmm like they did with search engines?

Few years at the absolute most
AI is hemorrhaging money right now, so my guess is they'll just start injecting ads into the prompts
So that when you ask for, say, a movie recommendation, it won't respond "a, b, and c are currently trending with high reviews" but instead vomit out a Netflix or Amazon Prime ad and shill their newest releases
