I'm not OP. But having one device that performs all the functions you'll potentially need is not low tech at all, although it minimizes their physical presence.

I'm getting at something else. What concessions must be made in order to disconnect in a society that punishes/inconveniences you for it.
>>
minimal tech vs "antiquitech"
books and print media vs ever present audiovisual stimuli for epigenetic enhancement

Flip phone for call and text. Smartphone without cell plan, and no home internet, for limited internet use. Media will have to be purchased in solid form or downloaded to said disconnected smartphone and transferred to an airgapped/offline PC.

What's wrong with this?

The amish prove that america isnt actually a real government and the feds dont have real power except in certain cases, weed proved this but even the military isnt really loyal to the US, only for a paycheck.

US gov just so happen to have a military that keeps the goys in line until another civil war with an armed population which is coming.

The amish are just a product of nepotism state laws in Indiana Pennsylvania.

If there was no nepotism they wouldnt be allowed to exist. They only exist and are allowed to drive their stupid little buggies because of corruption in the state government and they have family members in state power that let them do whatever they want. The state is ran by people that are amish.

Basically anything is possible if you have enough nepotism and corruption. America is not even a real country with a government just a "collection" of states with their own corruption.

Take california, tons of spics who somehow are all anchor baby citizens now and US citizens all allowed by california law. Yet if tens of millions of spics were in north dakota or montana the people living their would stand up and kick all the brownies out if it got to be like california.

America is a shithole it has no order like Russia or China.

Switching to Linux for gaming seems to be the popular thing these days and Steam is the choice for it. Whereas on Windows using GOG I can actually own my game and keep a copy of it, I'm not leasing it if the platform decides to just take shit back. Windows has better software support and freedom.

Fellow dwm adopter here. Still getting used to it. No need for anything else.
my “apt” unexpectedly killed most of gnome with a bad package. Went back to twm for a while, eventually found dwm.
> tiling
No it does tiling, but also monocle and regukar floating windows, and you can pop out any window to floating individually.

Only bug I’ve found is it sometimes crashes with firefox on videos with carefully crafted unicode which dwm tries to put in the title bar.

How the fuck did some poo get my credit card info and use it in a grocery store 5km away from me? The card was never physically lost and I'm very privacy-oriented in my internet usage. Recently I've just used the card to do normal things like buy groceries and some small things from the net. Is ProtonVPN leaking, is some poo taking screenshots on my phone or PC?

Most lithography machines get used for decades.

A chip consists of dozens of layers and you only need the newest and best machines for the first few layers.
So when a better machine comes out the older machines just get pushed down the line.

In an interview an engineer from ASML even said he found it a bit annoying having to build machines that came out two decades ago but sometimes an old machine breaks and the customers wants a 1:1 replacement instead of an upgrade.
>>
>>107668132
Where are you interviewing ASML engineers?

so what happens when they literally cannot hire enough people to make all of these chips? Do they just stop taking orders? Or just keep taking them knowing they can't make them?

Nah, a byte has always been 8 bits. What you're thinking of is "words" (hence why early computers and storage devices talked about their capacity in "[machine] words") - which yeah, have been some wacky values over the decades. The first mainframe I worked with had 12-bit words, which we called "slabs".
>>
>>107669275
this is more of a winbabby thing. they list KiB as KB because DOS did. hard drive manufacturers listed KB as KB for jewish reasons and windows users got confused. linux users also got confused because it lists KiB as K in cli apps and used to list KiB as KB in gui apps before adding in the i in the middle at some point. also KiB vs KB got standardized really late, like the 00's. and only deranged trannies use the real KB for anything. a 1024 byte "kilobyte" was og for decades and nobody wants to say kibibyte because it sounds retarded. linux calling it just K is the saving grace. a K was always 1024 and always will be 1024. but it could mean bit or byte depending if you're an ISP so you're getting jewed by 2 industries. i think neo geo also referred to mbit as mega. anyway normgroids became forced to learn the difference if they were to be correct but they didn't so now we have this thread
>>
>>107667259
Because it's not the drive manufacturer's fault that windows gets the numbers wrong.

But they taught me in school that every bit halves uncertainty, so adding a bit is always 2^N+1 capacity.

>>107666193
Yes, but unironically. I had to become an engineer and make money to become attractive to women. I was a kissless virgin until I got my first job at 23. I had to learn about sex by fucking countless hookers over the years so I could make non-hooker women cum to compensate for my average dick. Chads on the other hand can be fucking homeless and make women scream in pleasure with just the tip. Don't you realise how pissed I am about not being able to dedicate my time to things I like, because I have to spend it in shit like having a job, working out, and "self improving"? I have a libre booted thinkpad x200 that I haven't touched since I was 23. I no longer have time for ricing my window manager and for geeking out over stuff like that, and instead use exclusively proprietary software on my day to day and I fucking hate myself for it. I mean I do have free time. It's just that I wish I could go back to the times when I could spend the whole day until 5am doing useless shit, like tuning config files and shitposting on /g/ about that.

Hello everyone, I have an old desktop PC sitting right there doing nothing. I'm trying to give it a reason to exist and evaluating the idea to install Windows 7 on it.
So, can you use Windows 7 in these days? How much do you have to debloat it and uninstall things? And, more important, there's a way to not have it becoming a SECURITY NIGHTMARE?

Why do these people sperg out so hard over still using Windows 7?
I'm using the server 2008R2 updates, but my XP machine does not get insta hacked either. The exploits are all local privilege escalation shit that does not matter at all for a home user. Don't run malware, it is that easy. Admin access does not matter anyway, dicking with that is old hat. So you trashed some system files that can be replaced in 1 hour? big whoop. The new thing is infostealers that take you login tokens (that have free access by your standard user), and you see updooted users getting trashed by those daily.
>>
>>107654472
It's even worse when open source devs cite Microsoft's end of support as their excuse for not supporting Windows 7.
>>
>>107669045
This is lame as shit. Win32 has done everything you need for many versions now.
Recently things dropped it over GetTempPath2(). The only difference between GetTempPath() and GetTempPath2() is if you are running as SYSTEM, aka fucking nobody because that is one level above Admin that normal programs can't run as without hacks. Gotta use the latest API though, can't be seen using OLD shit.
