is p1's haptic trackpad as good as macbook?Z13 gen 1 had an awful trackpad with shit haptics
>>107527926no one responded but on the off chance anyone cares about something similar;ended up just going with an hp elitebook 845 g8. 5650u is more or less on par with 4750u(seems worse on multithreading but better single core and better on battery while having identical APU performance) and while you can get 4750u systems for $200~ they're usually C grade(or worse) wear levels, without charger or random other bullshit. Meanwhile there seems to be a pretty heavy firesale on this specific elitebook SKU across multiple vendors and even "real" vendors like newegg are selling refurbs for $230~ and you're getting it at "excellent" wear rating and likely better battery health. Which is technically important since shit isn't for me but for a kid and it's not cool to force them to deal with random dumbass quirks.tbdesu if you want a low cost APU machine it seems like it's just a solid option in general. Can't even really price out a set top box at the same performance level as far as I can tell(you could do a bit better if you spend more and get a real GPU but then you're spending more and it's not a laptop). though if you don't need /care about the APU and just want a shitposting machine I probably would've gone with something else.
>>107554620iirc i have a spare L380 (non-yoga) as one of the spares at work and while it's alright you can clearly see where they saved shekels with all 3 variants (non-touch, touch, yoga) all having the same lower plate with the pen insert.
>>107558274All iGPU but iGPU performance has come a long way since then assuming that you get the better CPU.
>>107518980as a T14G3 (Intel Aviv) user, I would avoid it like the plague. Terrible battery life and thermals. You are better off with the AMD T14G1 or any T480. I am legitimately considering replacing my T14 with some other AMD model, but I won't do it yet as its warranty lasts until april of 2029.

Be honest anon, do you actually use the Home Row for touch typing how it was caught in school? Or do you just kind of get a feel for your keyboard and get good at correcting typos really fast like me? Do you think learning to Touch Type properly is worth it?
>>107553711>Be honest anon, do you actually use the Home Row for touch typing how it was caught in school?Yes>Do you think learning to Touch Type properly is worth it?Anyone who spends a lot of time in front of a keyboard should learn to touch type properly, for most people it will be a massive speed increase.
>>107553711I used touch type the "proper way" but eventually started using alternative fingering for some combinations of keys.If you look at the techniques of some of the fastest typists in the world basically none of them use completely standard technique.Standard technique is fine if you are happy to be stuck at 120wpm but if you want to type really fast you have to get creative.
>>107555771That's how I type too
I'm not a touch typist per the autistic home row definition but I am one in a literal sense in that I don't ever look at the keyboard. Basically my left hand is stationary and resting on the desk while my right hand is hovering and moving. I get about 80 wpm like that.I don't really have any issues with my technique but I could never get into something like Vim since alternating between keyboard and mouse just feels so natural.
To me it's not about how fast I type, but how effortless (and fun) it is. I mainly use the standard way shown in OP pic, but sometimes I use the left index finger for 'c', and the left middle finger for 't' if it comes after a 'g'.Also, 30 second test with simple english words is not really useful since I also write a lot of code, so I did a 2 min test with rust code (I don't usually code in Rust, but it uses a lot of weird symbols). I'm more interested in being able to write consistent 60 wpm over half an hour, instead of short bursts of >100 wpm.
Why don't people just get cheap 5:4 (or 4:3) monitors to use as secondary displays? What is the appeal of a fugly dual 16:9 setup?
>second monitorA few years ago I bought an Odyssey g9 (the original) and it's the best monitor I've ever used. Multi monitor setups are a giant meme after experiencing 2x 27" 1440p 240hz monitors seamlessly combined.I'm waiting for the 57" OLED 4k version before I upgrade
