What's the best storage for backing up a lot of files and storing more in the future?
I'm thinking of getting WD blue, it's cheaper and seems to fit my case, which is just storing files externally using an adapter
Should I get that, or get different storage instead?

WD blue is SMR so it goes in the trash

disk clone copies at disk level, so 1/1 copy. whenever you update you copy entire disk
If you update frequently, better copy at file level.
I'm on linux so I use rsync, works on windows too.

does two different branded ram sticks (specs as close to each other as possible) work in thinkpad t16?

I have a t16 gen 3 with the original lenovo 32 gb ram stick and i'm planning on adding another one but from a different brand, its a relatively new laptop. is there any serious risk that may arise from doing this that wouldn't make it worth it in terms of saving money on buying another ram stick of the same brand?

dkms is a kernal module manager system thing, it's trying to rebuild your modules but fails on the amdgpu module.
you can try to manually reinstall the dkms amdgpu module somehow, idk on your package manage.
>>
>>106652127
I used
>sudo apt remove --purge amdgpu-dkms
and well it no longer throws the error but who knows if I won't run into problems later. I am new at this.

those rog handhelds keep trying to compete with the steam deck (which is popular amongst normies) but fail because they keep aiming them at the giga-nerd gaymurrs
said gaymurrs buy these rogs but none of them fucking go outside so if they aren't deligated to being an overglorified streaming stick for their TV they just sit around and collect dust
steamdecks meanwhile are cheap enough that parents are willing to get them to play old games on it while also allowing their kids to use them and in traditional microsoft fashion they keep missing the goddamn point

How to install NVIDIA drivers according to the Debian wiki:
>yeah just fucking do this and read pages of stupid bullshit, then paste this, then paste this, then paste this, then paste this, then this etc
The actual solution:
>Paste this and you're done:
>sudo sed -i 's/main.*$/main contrib non-free non-free-firmware/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.sources && sudo apt update && sudo apt install linux-headers-amd64 nvidia-driver firmware-misc-nonfree

Why isn't the actual solution, one terminal prompt, at the top of the page? This shit is so fucking easy; the documentation is just ass.

>sudo sed -i 's/main.*$/main contrib non-free non-free-firmware/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.sources
sed modifies text in a given file. This sed command adds the non-free software repos to your package manager's sources, which the proprietary NVIDIA drivers are a part of.
>sudo apt update
updates your package list to account for the non-free software you just added to your sources
>sudo apt install linux-headers-amd64 nvidia-driver firmware-misc-nonfree
Installs the NVIDIA stuff

You can consult ChatGPT and it will agree with me
>>
>>106644903
Another point of Debian stupidity is that the netinst image (the minimum installer that downloads the rest of what you need from the internet) isn't available on the mirrors (the place that is supposed to hold ALL installation images for a version). No, the netinst image is behind a random hyperlink tag on a random help page.

Other than that and Nvidia autism though, Debian is amazing.
>>
>>106652689
>which the proprietary NVIDIA drivers are a part of

what exactly is her "hypothesis"? Because there is no problem solving on Mac. It either just works or it just doesn't and also doesn't tell you why.
From my experience people who use apple products are the most technically inept people in existence.
If you were to do a study like that and apply adequate controls (ideally IQ but parental income and education level does the trick I guess) I'm pretty sure the windows kids would come out on top. That being said there is probably a whole crowd of "no computer" kids that only ever used phones, tablets and consoles

2018 user oldfag here who has tried every OS every Windows, all Linux distros, all BSDs and is now on a Macbook Air 15 M4

Here is the os end game redpill:

If your concern is performance your machine is probably old: -> Sell your wangblows shitbox and upgrade to a M4 Mac Mini

If your concern is privacy use an airgapped machine + don't use state/regional services/websites (ie if your merican don't use google, if you're russian don't use yandex). For the airgapped machine use MACOS since Linux cannot into self-contained/static linked software

If your concern is "just werks" use MacOS, pretty self-explanatory.

As you can see, Linux is out of the equation here, Linux is dogshit, no cap. These faggots still don't know how to draw windows on the desktop and have just awhile ago implemented fractional scaling. The 2 main desktops: GNOME is a schizo-designed, autism-approved iPad parody and KDE is an eternal bugfest. As are all the other desktop environments, which have 0, zero quality control.

How long do you use an identity?
Do you follow that philosophy of anonymity? If you do, how hardcore?

Sometimes I create a new persona for a social scene, game or whatever. It will have password manager, vm config, fingerprints, IP, and all that everything that is unique to the persona, all the files saved to it etc.

I make friends with people as that person, sometimes for months or even multiple years, then one day I just delete the entire thing with a few keystrokes and purge it from my backups too, never to be accessed again.
It can sting for a little bit, and I will never find out what the other people felt about it either. Makes you wonder what's going on in all their lives.

How does /g/ manage their personas?

why would something like 3D printing your own peripherals or technology related things be "sad" on a fucking technology board. making your own custom built keyboard is peak /g/ and if you disagree then go back to r/faggots to show off some chinkboard you overpaid for. there's nothing wrong with 3D printed cases, especially as printers and filament materials only get better and better.

how the print quality looks is up to you, the printer etc, there's a number of ways to improve it, you could sand it, or coat/finish it, and aside from that fact, are you not a touch typist? wtf are you so concerned if it "looks rough" it's a keyboard ffs.
