Remember that a purchase or radeon is a purchase supporting the market dying. Do the right thing anon, buy Nvidia.

buying two 7900xtx's for my new build. thanks anon
>>
>>101203584
You don't need to cuck yourself on purpose by forcing yourself to buy AMD GPUs, just buy used Nvidia.
>>
>>101203534
I'm planning on buying the 2TB + an HDD to store extra stuff (nothing important though). Issue is too many games these days are dozens of GBs in size, with bloated save games too, so a few dozen titles will easily fill it up.
>>
the only relevant GPUs are nvidia, as proven by their skyrocketing stock. any other GPU is just poor people cope as usual. and pcbg is a poor people cope thread, so this all makes sense

poorfag here, I need advice for a motherboard
I had a rig in 2019 and I forgot the motherboard model I think it was a B350 and I was using a Athlon 3000G and I was able to use 1 HDMI output and 2 DVI (D and I) outputs at once and used 2 monitors and 1 TV

What motherboard allows me to do that now for that same 3000G? I don't need a GPU I actually use a Pavillion 23 and want to sell it for a mITX desktop

Mostly for use on my TV and 2 monitors with Retroarch and some 4K Blurays using a USB disc drive
>>
Reposting before suggestions before I buy.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xBfTL9

Highest priority is silence, since my current setup is extremely fucking annoying with my new open ear headphones. Money is not an issue, but I'm only really playing shit like Genshin Impact, Elden Ring, and LoL so there's no need for a 4090 or anything (and it'd be louder). I bought the PSU ages ago and then forgot about building a PC for a while, this is why it isn't 3.0. I read that Nocue fans are overpriced, but they're still supposed to be the most silent so whatever. Not sure about the current case, I just chose the highest rated as a kind of placeholder since it's hard to see the difference between cases. Region is europe.
>>
>>101203527
I can't find the CPU better than 12700k
>>
So I'm poor but I tried to make a budget build for my first time anyway throughout the months, and ended up with this:

>B550M K for MB
>AMD Ryzen 7 5600G
>Kingston SSD M.2 NV2
>a 16GB ram for now

And after building and shit, I'm trying to install botnet 10, but I'm stuck in the beginning since it asks for drivers for my storage; but no matter which file I choose, they all show that Load Driver error message, wtf do I do.

Also that CMD pic is slightly outdated, I managed to make it show the entire space as free later, somehow.
>>
>>101203882
just google "am4 motherboards that support 3 monitors".
>>
>>101203925
it's a good build but only 2 things. why 2 nvmes? what's the point of that? but that doesn't really matter. the real question is why have a great build that buy a shit cpu? you have a great gpu and great ram, you're going to fuck your machine by getting such a shit cpu. get an i9-14900k which is 24c/32t and performs at least twice as good as the one you picked
>>
>>101203925

Update the motherboard's BIOS
>>
>>101203956
reset CMOS, don't change a bunch of shit, just set it to legacy CSM *OFF* (UEFI boot only), then use a fresh windows 10 installer

if it still doesn't work make sure your drive is seen in BIOS, make sure you didn't install it in a SATA-only M.2 slot

there is no universe in which you should be seeing a "load drivers for your storage" screen on Windows 10 with Ryzen and NVMe unless you fucked something up or the SSD is toast
>>
>>101204021
Yeah, they're from the 10 installer, couldn't get into the OS nor connect to the internet yet.

it's this. CSM probably needs shut off. just rummage around BIOS until you find that

>it's a good build but only 2 things. why 2 nvmes?
It's like $50 more vs getting a HDD and SSDs are more silent, so I thought it's better to just 3 get of those. The main drawback I could find was that SSDs could lose data after not getting electricity for a few years, which isn't relevant in this case.

> the real question is why have a great build that buy a shit cpu?
Uh, I thought that cpu was pretty good. I just got it from a past OP desu. And I vaguely remember AMD being better than intel. But I can check out the market again.

>>
>>101203527
Does anyone know a good full size case? Im thinking of getting a thermaltake W100. I want to run ZFS with hot swappable 3.5" drive bays and at least one optical drive. I would do caselabs but they are defunct and the successor is taking a fuckin lifetime. It will probably need a mesh front for better airflow, plus they look nicer. The older lian li cases are also cool but they are never being sold second hand. Being silver/brushed aluminum/metal or whatever is also a big plus.

>The main drawback I could find was that SSDs could lose data after not getting electricity for a few years
this is the silliest thing i've heard in a while and isn't true. also, if you care about data you should be using a NAS with spinning disks, boot drives aren't meant to store data forever, and aren't backup solutions.
>I thought that cpu was pretty good.
nope, you can literally go to any cpu comparison chart and see that it's actually pretty shit. and it doesn't make sense with your build. all your other parts are great and your buying a shit cpu. even your board is great. and you need to be careful, you see how the other anon replied immediately and defended your shit cpu, because i bet he has one and he's made it his identity. do yourself a favor and spend a teeny tiny bit more money and get a really good cpu and you'll have an amazing build. there are better intel cpus and even better amd cpus. stop listening to poor anons. get a cpu with 24-32 cores that have high base clock speeds. stop listening to poor people, pcbg is overflowing with poor indians that have made their own shit parts their identity and they will defend them to the death because they need to justify the parts the little money they had could have purchased at the time

don't manually set multipliers, just adjust the turbo limits and turbo multipliers

1) check certifications, particularly cybenetics if it has one -- 80+ is a decent measure also (anything below gold is mediocre)
2) check the cultists PSU tier list
3) check ATX specification - ATX 5.0 PSUs have to be able to handle excursions up to 200% of peak load

How old is your installation media? That Windows version in your Diskpart image is from over a year ago, so I just want to make sure you're installing the latest version since that could be the problem.
>>
>>101204788
Alright, it's a pretty old 500W Be Quiet! unit, I couldn't find it on the newest tier list but an older version puts it at B tier so that should be fine, right? It's 80+ silver and I bought it like IDK 7 years ago since it was pretty popular and had good ratings for the price
I'm asking because I'm looking to upgrade to a 5800X3D and a 6700 XT from my 2200G and 1060 which brings up the power estimates from like 300W to around 460W

>>
Other than support for newer hardware etc., is there any point in updating your BIOS periodically if it doesn't have any bugs or anything?
>>
>>101204877
you shouldn't be pulling the battery to reset CMOS, it's unreliable because of flea power, when you reset CMOS use the jumper
when you look for your drive in the UEFI setup, where are you looking? there should be a menu that shows NVMe storage specifically, it won't show up under SATA or boot options

>>101204967
power supplies wear out by virtue of doing what they do, you can calculate around 3-5% peak capacity loss per year, so at 7 years old your PSU has probably lost 25-35% of its peak capacity
I definitely would not put any new parts on a 7 year old power supply, regardless of how good it is

it's a 60Hz IPS with rated 1000:1 contrast (lmao, no) and rated 5ms GTG response time—you can realistically knock 200 off of that contrast ratio and tack on another 10ms to the response time
contrast ratio and response time don't matter for photo editing, working in office, or programming, but having bad contrast sucks for watching movies, and a 60Hz refresh rate with mediocre response time will deliver an unsatisfying gaming experience

nicotine salt hits harder than cigs but they are more expensive and easy to get addicted to. vaping is meant to quit smoking instead you pick up another more expensive habit.

Do yourself a favor and get a beQuiet Pure Power 12M 850W. Or something equivalent.
It's not worth trying to save a fast food menu on a long life piece of hardware.
If you buy a lower power PSU chance are high you won't be able to reuse it with your next build as you can see with your 500W PSU. beQuiet service is great, you will always get adapters to make your PSU work with new hardware.

talking specifically about RDNA 2/3 (RX 6000/7000)
the OpenGL driver is all new and works great now, even on shit like Citra emu
DX11 performance is still hit or miss, DX12 and Vulkan perform very well though
Ray-tracing on RX 6000 is slow (worse than Turing)
RX 7000 it's mediocre (similar to NV Ampere but with less capacity so heavy RT effects still slow it down a lot, however it works fine for games that only have one or two RT effects -- doom eternal, elden ring, etc)
the user-facing driver software itself is pretty good at this point; I still don't like the UI but it's reliable enough and has a lot of features
overall they're competent GPUs, especially if you don't care about raytracing, you typically get more VRAM for the money vs. NVIDIA

I'd like to build one capable of running games like cyberpunk 2077 at max settings and to work on zbrush without lagging and/or crashing, so I'm going (by what I've read in these threads) with a 7950X3D for CPU and a RTX4090 for GPU.
What other parts would suggest to complete the build?
Budget would be around 2000€ without monitor.

1.0 implies PCI Express -- we're talking about old-school PCI here, 133 MB/second
now, to be clear, as I said, PCI is faster than USB 2.0
USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps peak, that's megaBITS, or around 60 Mbytes/second
USB 3.0 speeds are 5 gigabits per second, or around 640 MB/second
so no, PCI can't handle USB 3.0's full speed, but USB 3.0-via-PCI is still an upgrade over USB 2.0 -- and that card also offers the full 9 watts power delivery that USB 3.0 can provide (thanks to a required SATA power connector); USB 2.0 can only provide 5V 500mA = 2.5W

First time? If so, a few tips for next time:
Make sure you're PSU is installed first with its cables already inserted into it. That way, you aren't struggling to plug cables in later.
Also, cable the motherboard right before installing it into the case. Doing this leads to less headache later. IN fact, you're probably going to struggle plugging the CPU power cable into the motherboard because of you're giant cooler. Just remember this for next time.

Thanks for all your help anons!
>>
>>101209899
that was going to be my next suggestion. AM4/AM5 boards require you to put stucks in A2/B2 for some reason. you'd think they'd just rename those A1/B1 but what do i know, i'm just a dumb consumer

I need to have a PC. I don't know anything about computers and have never built one before.
Primary use for the computer is to have to run windows to get on my employers website. It likes windows best.
Then I sure would like to play skyrim.
Mostly I like tower defense cames.
My budget is 300 and I live in Houston, Texas USA and there is a computer store 5 min away, but I don't understand any of these parts. I could buy online too.
>>
>>101209957

>>
>>101209920
I had it in the 2/4 slots, tried one in 3 and it finally worked. Idk man i'll call it a win.
>>

you aren't going to be able to build a computer worth a shit for $300. for that price you're better off finding a shitty refurb office PC and putting a video card in it.
>>
>>101209957
At that price you're better off going a bit higher and getting a lower end laptop for like $500.

Wait until you get to cable management.
You're going to have a fun time managing the power cables with that case, PSU clearance looks pretty restricted with the drive cages.

Still pretty garbage overall, with poor integration (e.g., Blender, monitors) and a lack of features (e.g., no Broadcast, RTX HDR). With the recent FSR 3.1 update, things are looking better on the reconstruction front, but we'll have to waitTM for some more in depth analysis. One of the AMDfriend tardtubers said that FSR Performance at 1440p looks better than old FSR Quality at 1440p, so maybe he's just falling for the hype or maybe Radeon has finally produced (read: probably plagiarized) a usable reconstruction technique, the same way Radeon's OpenGL driver >>101206815 magically improved after being shit for a decade after Nvidia's driver source code leak

SVENANONS are you aware that lian li uni p28 fans are reduced to 149 kr

the current bid for a pair of noctua nf-a12x25 chromax.black.swap fans from a private seller is 420 kr

lian li uni p28 according to several reviews has better noise to performance ratio at medium to high speeds, there's a sweet spot where it performs even better than phanteks t30 whereas noctua nf-a12x25 chromax.black swap is tuned for very low fan speeds

the noise profile comparison by youtuber thermalleft should imo be taken with a grain of salt since it's normalized for SPL rather than performance or fan speed

My 1080ti pulls 70w minimum running 1080p144, 1440p170, 1080p60 displays. With two displays locked to 60hz I can get it down to 20w but regardless of the refresh rate three is always at 70w. It's the same if I use my intel igpu too. This is on linux x11.
I think I have two choices. AMD card and hope the drivers work better under linux or getting two M27Qs and hoping same res/refresh fixes weird x11 bs with mixed refresh rate. Does anyone here run 3 monitors with linux/nvidia and have low idle power draw?

There's a technical reason and a network effect. #1 is that the DPI is in an "unhappy medium" where it's too high for native scaling* but too low for 2x integer. #2, caused in some part by the first, is that few people buy them so you get less economy of scale and a narrower range of feature choices.

*At typical desktop viewing distances. Generally you want 90-120DPI for native and 180-240 for 2x.

That's not great but it's not a grenade either. Assuming it works fine I wouldn't bother replacing it until the rest of the build gets upgraded. The CPU is fine too. Will pull <100W while gaming so you'll be at around 400W total. That's well below the unit's 650W rating.

Overall the build is fine. Decently balanced and no major mistakes.
Some comments:
>CPU
Get the non-X if it's noticeably cheaper. Same chip.
>Motherboard
This is the one component that could be considered a mistake. A620 boards should be <$100 and you probably shouldn't buy them.
The "default" AM5 board is the $130 B650m HDV/M.2. Take a look at its feature set and decide if you need more.
>Storage
Personally I'd get a 2TB NVMe and ditch the HDD altogether. Indeed, I wouldn't bother with <8TB HDDs at all.
>Case
You'll probably want an extra fan with that case since it only comes with two.
