i've put a thin strip on the walls at around eye level when i stand, so when i'm sitting it gives me a nice illuminating diffusion effect
there's the newest strips that are very thin, i think they're called 5050's or something. very small footprint but very large output. very cheap by the meter as well.

Got my Hotochki glasses from AliExpress. -6 myopia with some astigmatism, 60mm PD
>Old glasses: 1.59 polycarbonate, 53[]18 (71) rectangular/30mm lens height, 8-9mm lens at thickest point
>New glasses: 1.67 high index, 50[]17 (67) more circular/43mm lens height. 5mm lens at thickest point
>For a thinner lens: find "frame PD" as close to your eye PD as you can and choose a more circular lens
- I ordered one $20 pair of 1.67 lenses and two glasses frames for a "backup" frame. The instructions only tell you that if you order 1 pair of lenses and 1 frame they'll install the lenses for you, but both frames came with the lenses with my prescription. I don't know if this was a mistake on their part, or if they just do that when you order 2 of the same frame (what about 3+ or different frames?), but it was a nice surprise
- I was worried about the lenses having any noticeable color tint since the standard ~$70 polycarbonate lenses with AR coating they sell where I live have a green tint, but these don't have a noticeable tint. When you point a flashlight at the lenses, the reflection looks green. The oleophobic and hydrophobic parts are OK. I've had (much more expensive, Crizal I think?) lenses with better anti-glare that distorted the reflections on the lenses so they were less noticeable (lights behind you reflected on the lenses were very blurry) so I wonder if there are any Chinese sellers that offer better AR coating.
- The chromatic aberration is more noticeable than on my old glasses but apparently this is pretty normal for 1.67 high index lenses. I got used to it, but I'm considering getting 1.60 MR-8 lenses next since they should have the least among high index lenses. This store doesn't offer them so I'd have to buy from another one, BCLEAR sells them for $13.33 with coins at least
- Since these lenses are taller than what I had before, the very top/bottom have more barrel distortion and chromatic aberration, but it's better than just seeing a blurry mess
>>
>>101452944
we astronomy guys should start to make some diy designs that use the ultracheap consumer eye glasses optics...
>>
>>101452989
pretty sure that at astronomy rates all you will see with chink lenses is a blurry mess and lots of aberration, i wouldn't trust chinkshit lenses to not kill my eyes and good chinkshit optics is expensive as well

>>101456172
It's possible to get the 50 cent by playing for a bit every day. No chance of reaching anything worthwhile though. Is the max $5 even worth it? Probably not.

A rough guess of 0.50 cent (half cent) on average per item delivery.
500 cents / 13 days = ~39 cents per day
39 / 0.50 = 78 deliveries per day
1008 deliveries in total

worst case of getting all lowest payouts:
36 / 0.20 = 195 deliveries per day
2535 deliveries in total

best case of getting all highest payouts:
36 / 1.20 = 32.5 deliveries per day
422.5 deliveries in total

I think the payouts favor smallest values more so it's probably about 2000 deliveries. It still contingent on having enough energy to produce this many items.

For the 50 cent coupon it's 10x less so deliver roughly 15-20 items per day.

Might as well deliver a pizza or two in real life. It pays better.

I'm waiting for Beitong to make a controller with trigger locks + plus the unique extra top two buttons like the bigbigwon blitz controller (bigbigwon said they will make a newer Blitz controller that has 2000hz polling rate).

Not many people realize this but Beitong has the lowest wireless real world latency controllers and they also manufacturer controllers for other companies like Gamesir, Thunderobot, BigBigWon, ManbaOne, EasySMX controllers are all made by Beitong under a different name with worse software. I'm a poorfag but I'm waiting for a controller like Zeus 2 but with hall sticks and slightly cheaper without the changeable modules.

In comparison Gulikit has the worse wireless (dongle and Bluetooth) out of all the Chinese controllers. The controller is good when playing wired mode only.

Not to disparage your post, but do you have a source for that Beitong thing? Very interesting, though. I'll keep an eye on them, if true.

From my own research and emailing Beitong and Bigwonwon 3 months ago.

Manba One controller just came out from a "literally who" company which is a rebrand of Beitong Kungeng 50.

EasySMX 9110 and Thunderobot G50S has the same shell. When you connect the Thunderobot G50S to a window computer it tells you it's a "beitong controller" in the hardware settings. Thunderobot G70 has a ghetto version of the Beitong Zeus 2 replaceable module buttons.

Gamesir T4Pro has the same shell layout as EasySMX 9124. Gamesir also have terrible software but the hardware is good because it's most likely made by Beitong. They also have another clone called Gamesir T3S which is exactly the same as Beitong BAT4 controller.

For bigbigwon controllers I talked to them on discord 3 months ago and they said they will make a new Blitz controller with 2000hz but no hall sticks (not release yet) and a 1000hz + hall stick (BigBigWon Gale). Beitong just release a new 2000hz controller called Beitong Asura Pro 2 Pro Plus in a Green color but I'm not buying it because it has no trigger lock and the top extra button are not there and it only has 2 back buttons instead of 4.

Also all these controllers test around 3-15ms on Gamepadla while most other Chinese controller are higher like Guiltkit because Guiltkit is 100% build from scratch in-house).

Beitong (aka Betop) has been around for 25 years but no one really heard about them. Gamesir, ManbaOne, EasySMX, and Thunderobot are relatively new companies that just paid the rights to rebrand some of the controller. Bigbigwon rainbow and Gamesir Kaleid light led looks similar too.

ali searching is just a massive pain
I spent some time looking for the best price of a pair of Wyvern Abyss IEMs, the best I could find was 30$, while I was considering it & other options someone posted an image of them for 20$ or 22$ with a set of highly regarded aftermarket tips, so I ended up buying that instead
Ali is fucking weird, man

I do agree with the other anons, if it's chink shit and it's not heavy, it's almost guaranteed going to be cheaper on aliexpress, you just have to find it
>>
>>101462277
Just search custom deskmat
Look at the top results with lots of sales
Look at customers pictures and make sure they look good
Make sure the seller accepts high resolution images and that you have a good quality large image to submit for your order.
MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE DIMENSIONS ON YOUR DESK.
sellers always list desk mats in millimeters so the number is huge like 300x600. Use a measuring tape of something and see how big it will actually be when you get it

To the level of savings that some anon reached, not very common. Previous game credits usually amounted to $20 or less with hard grinding and phone battery burning in Merge Boss. The fútbol betting was much less time consuming and had bigger savings potential. Nonetheless, 11.11 / BFCM should still have decent discounts overall as the highlight season of the year.

Probably salvage from old hardware. I wouldn't even buy it for $12 because I already have a decent computer, I'm assuming most people don't know how good older hardware was or maybe most people don't care like me. I think some people here bought the Ryzen 5700x3 for relatively cheap too and they said it was legit. Another guy here bought an old gigabyte motherboard and it came with 2 CPU inside the motherboard even though it wasn't specified.

I've got pic related, maybe T12 isn't the newest, hottest stuff anymore at least speaking of chink products(I think that'd be T245?), but I really like it, there's a huge choice of ridiculously cheap soldering tips, the tips themselves have built-in heating element, and with the right handle are very easy and convenient to replace (using pic-related M8 handle, very nice).

Otherwise T/C245, their main advantage is higher power and so faster heating and better heat stability, but I can't recomment any specific device.
>>
>>101480932
Ts101 or pencil. I have the ts101 and it heats up fast as fuck (about 5-7 sec)
>>
>>101481227
Sure if portability is a factor for the anon, but if not... he did specifically ask for a station, ts101 is lower power and has poorer choice of tips compared to e.g. mentioned T12
>>
>>101480932

Quicko T12
Get a version with STM32 chip. Not the STC ones.
If you want to use custom firmware then try to get one with genuine chip. Otherwise I don't think there's any glaring flaws with the clone chips. The firmware dev didn't bother to support all the Chinese chip variants.
Don't bother with other brand name T12 stations. The Quicko brand has the better power supply according to that developer guy.
They've largely fixed the grounding problems unless you buy some really shit clone brand.
You might not even use custom firmware because something nobody ever mentions is you need to calibrate the tip temperature yourself on custom fw. So that's another $15-$20 for a good proper temperature meter.

As another anon said, there's been some newer types of stations but I've read on forums the Chinese copies aren't as good at reproducing the tips as they managed with T12 tips. T12 is the tried and tested clone station for years now.

Don't bother with those yihua 8996 or whatever combination of number. That tier is just a better QCed version of the most budget ass stations. Don't need to fall for that meme when T12 exists.
>>
>>101481541
The Quecoo I mention in >>101481210 has good PSU with both case and tip grounded, and no obvious issues like poor clearances that can be found in some similar stations.
I'm fairly certain it doesn't use a STM32 though so there's that.
>>
>>101481541
>Don't bother with those yihua 8996 or whatever combination of number.
Yeah, although I suppose he can get a yihua hot air station if he needs that.
Just don't bother with the old 900M-clone irons.
>>
>>101481339
Actually I didn't buy it for portability but because if the PSU hypothetically dies I can just switch the PD charger. You can't do that with the t12 without buying the whole thing again.

That's just plainly wrong though, there are also these T12-mini variants that, instead of a built-in PSU, come with an external power brick that you can replace probably cheaper than your PD charger.
>>

That's good to know, but most of time I'm not soldering so I use the PD charger for other stuff. I guess if you solder a lot than it might make a difference.

>Porta Pro clone
Wasn't aware of them, I might take a look. I'm asking on /csg/ instead of the audiophile general specifically because I don't really mind or care about audio quality as long as it works as a sidegrade to my RY4S. I've got tinnitus when I was 12 or something after all. The format matters a lot more than the audio quality past that point.
Of course it can't be completely shit like those old chink earbuds that literally die and crackle past 50% volume but I don't think even the low end behaves like that nowadays.

I'm trying to create an audio setup with decent input for vidya with pals and and great headphone output for listening to music, and I'm considering getting an audio interface to connect both a cheap xlr mic like the k669d as well as using it to listen to music instead of a separate external DAC focused on listening. My main concern is that the audio interface's audio output quality would be inferior to a standalone DAC of similar cost, in which case I may be better off getting a USB mic like the am8 instead and a separate DAC. The convenience of having everything connected to a single interface easing up cable management is also appealing. What do you suggest bros?

>NTA but what grounding problem
The case is metal, the tip is metal, it is now a standard for a long time in electricity that if a device has metal parts exposed to the user, that could become live due to a fault or design issue, these parts should be grounded. This is especially true for devices with metal cases.
This is for your protection and in case of the tip I guess also a tiny bit to protect whatever sensitive electronics you might be soldering.

>My house isn't grounded,
I guess it's just old then. And yes it is in fact not optimal to use devices to require grounding - so even your PC! It is very likely that you'd get a tiny shock if you were to touch your PC's case and for example an exposed metal pipe at the same time (well, as long as the pipe itself is actually grounded).
So yeah, you're taking a bit of a risk with whatever 3-wire device you're using in your 2-wire electrical system.

See https://users.ece.cmu.edu/~omutlu/pub/flash-memory-failures-in-the-field-at-facebook_sigmetrics15.pdf, a study from facebook about ssd health. In particular, read 5.1 on pgs 9 & 10, relating to SSD health & temperature.

To answer the original question, and explain the image: It completely depends on your SSD.
Heat speeds up degredation of hardware (Platforms A & B). Some SSDs controllers throttle the performance of the SSD when they get hot, to minimize degredation (Platforms C & E). Some SSDs throttle themselves differently, achieving lower failure rates with higher temps (Platforms D & F).

Again, it depends on your hardware and usecase. If your SSD is like A & B in the graph, or you want your SSDs to run with maximum performance at all times, get a heatsink to minimize damage. If your SSD's controller throttles well, you probably won't need to worry about it.

I'm really not familiar with SSD hardware/software, so you'll have to figure this all out for yourself. The study linked covers much more (like error rates), I can't be fucked to read the rest though. Manufacturers might also provide details for how to properly use their SSDs in particular.

>>
>>101450422
Can someone please explain how the fuck to properly use coins.
First issue. Half the time it'll say "35% off with coins", so I press buy now and at best its giving like 25% off. Not (always) due to multiple item choices in the ad, many times it happens on just single choice listings also.
Second issue. Adding to cart never gives the full amount of discount, or even that fucked up slightly less I describe above, Its usually only like 5-10% off. This issue is mostly bad for if there's any sub $15 items I want with a good coin discount. As in trying to add a few good coin discount and sub $15 items to also have free shipping.
So how the fuck do i get my full discount and further, how do i get it for sub $15 items?
Also, I'll say this. I know to check if its actually cheaper on the coin page than some other regular seller has it for.
Cheers in advance for any replies
>>
>>101488832
aliexpress is lying to you, there is nothing real about any discount they ever offer.
>>
>>101488932
Dont worry, i know the chinks are untrustworthy.
But some of these deals still are better than anything else i can find. So i was just hoping there was a reason other than chinkery for the discount difference.
Or at least how to deal with the cheaper items and shipping.
>>
>>101488832
There are some coins discount that do offer 50-65% but the catch is that it's a item that is under $12 so you need to buy multiple of it to get the free shipping.
>>
>>101484687

I think the pro has a bunch of issues with overheating, unless they solved it
also it has no headphonenjack
also it's mtk so gcam support is not very good
also it's mtk so emulation is gutted

and games run decently as far as I can tell on x6. only reason I'd want the pro is to emulate switch games, and it can't cause of some driver issues I think? (might get solved in the future). x6 can but slow depending on games.

I don't know, I feel like x6 is the better option, and pro was like 50 euro more.
other than the chip I think they're the same phone, but the issues coming from that chip kinda make me thing. though x6 also overheats according to benchmarks. m6 pro doesn't overheat, but it's the worst chip and camera sucks on it.

Anyone ordered S24 snapdragon from ali? They offer 5-day delivery with good prices, but I guess I should forget about warranty
>>
>>101488832
Coins are so easy to obtain. That should tell you what they are worth.
It only works with buy now. Adding to cart gives you the arbitrary coin discount of a few cents or whatever. No different than when adding random items to cart.
Other than that all I can say is It Works For Me. I have to double check the discount is correct otherwise it's not hard to find items that are real discounts.
My theory is there's probably some internal customer rating. Probably the same mechanism that determines shadowbans. Like when events don't work at all for some people. Or when the daily coin check in only gives 1 coin per day. Maybe if you're getting no discounts all then the "algorithm" has it out for you.

Be careful, at least if you use EU plug, these often ship with a faulty power cord that have live and neutral wires swapped, so you get the switch and the fuse being on the neutral wire instead of the live one. Otherwise in theory it shouldn't really matter that much, but in reality the station behaves weirdly when using the faulty cable, as it gives signs of life ("chirping" of the speaker and blinking of the oled) even when switched off

>sound has kinda been solved by china
Sound was solved in the 90s. China had nothing to do with it.
>>
>>101492903
I don't think there would be a significant difference for app launching, that doesn't require this much processing.
for storage you got a point, but again, what would you need that for?
even 4k video recording doesn't need that much bandwidth, so once again it's game loading. I guess apps would load a little faster but to what end? it's not like whatever memory in the regular one is that much slower.

I mean if you got extra 50 bucks I guess it makes sense. years ago I made the mistake and cheapened out and got a 3/32 instead of 4/64 and it was a pain.
and I made a gamble buying x6 too since it doesn't have an SD slot like m6 pro, but hopefully it will be fine with 256.
not having a headphone jack and not using Snapdragon were the things I cared about so it made sense not to get the pro.

Well yeah I did mention it's better, but:
1. it's more expensive
2. the tips are more expensive
3. pretty sure there's less variety in tip types, at least from chink sellers

But if one's willing to spend more, sure why not

>>

A lot of stuff I bought was ok, but most notably:
T12 soldering station & tips
RTL-SDR (v3 here) & various accessories for it like amplifiers and antennas
A lot of chink IEMs and a DAC that all still work flawlessly
Lots of various usb cables
Some bicycle stuff like lights
NR-750 dosimeter
a digital torque meter
cheapo Aneng multimeters like M118A are a steal with their features for the price
and more stuff I don't remember

NGL though, some stuff turned out to be utter shit, like
one sata to usd adapter (another one at the same price worked ok though)
a pcie-nvme card (another one at the same price worked ok though)

one time I bought a couple tiny cheapo binoculars that worked fine at first but lost their collimation by 2nd or 3rd use and were impossible to re-adjust

certainly on the negative side there was also stuff I no longer remember
>>
>>101450459
this sounds stupid but, i cant recall any chink shit i bought that broke down, and im trying really hard to think of something, so far everything has worked fine, even stuff that wears down over time, but then again i dont buy stupid chink shit like clothing/footwear, only stuff that should endure more abuse (or stuff that wont take no abuse like network switches or something along those lines)
>>
I see ZT301 and ZT302 multimeters in the guide, is there any reason AN870 is there but not ZT303? Feature-wise ZT303 appears to be a more compact and cheaper AN870

aneng and zoyi meters are rebrands of zotek ones (many chink brands rebrand zotek, the odm of most cheap meters, next odm higher up is uni-t probably, or maybe vici not sure if they are/were the odm).
buy whatever brand is cheaper at the time, they are all the same on the inside (comparable models)

>>101498121
im still using chink shit from back when aliexpress didnt exist (my favourite pair of pliers was bought in 07 and is chinkshit, looks & feels brand new if i clean it with some break clean), and the normie goto was ebay for chink shit, and even that stuff still works fine
>>
>>101498394
I'll take ZT303 then, it's cheaper, smaller and only thing it it doesn't seem to have compared to AN870 is temperature reading, but I've got that on my older uni-t anyway if I REALLY need it.

Yeah, AN870 can supposedly measure up to 20 amps compared to ZT303's 10 amps, but that's complete chink bullshit, because AN870 shunt resistor is rated for only 10 Amps (if not less) and if you give it more, it instantly overheats and gives very inaccurate readings.
>>

also, the original model of the aneng an870 is a zotek zt219
>>
>>101498882
>is a zotek zt219
I've read a lot that these AN870 and ZT303 are rebranded Zoteks, but I can't actually find Zotek selling them anywhere nowadays, so are you sure it's not the other way around? Or could Zotek just decide to OEM them for other brands instead of selling them themselves?
>>
>>101499003
nowadays zotek sells under their "inhouse" rebrand zoyi, not sure why they began doing this tho, maybe they want the zotek brand to be a odm only
they are all the same hardware tho, only the stickers with the brand change, no matter what. find the matching model (see a teardown, the pcb should have the odm model on it) and buy whatever is cheaper regardless of brand. i have an anen meter because the zotek one was more expensive and there were no other rebrands at the time (actually i have more than one aneng one but it was always due to the price)
