Not a fan. Slightly better instrument separation and clarity but you lose so much low-end energy (even for the wide bore standards). I still prefer the OG divinus

Seems like the EQ guide has been received positively overall. I'm thinking of doing another small project, either an article dispelling common audio misconceptions (mainly aimed at very new beginners, somewhat complementary to the EQ guide), or an archive of measurements found on squig.link (for those that weren't present when I uploaded the last scarpe, here it is https://files.catbox.moe/g89gvf.7z)

The latter I will need people who can scrape data, mainly for self-hosted databases on github.io (eg JaysAudio, listener, HBB, etc).

I noticed most hybrid IEMs have the DD and BAs in this orientation. I'm wondering if the positions of the driver holes matter for stuff like positional imaging and "soundstage". I can imagine high frequencies bouncing off the wrong parts of your ear if you put tweeters in the wrong spot. But I can also imagine manufacturers copying each other for no reason and this is what they landed on.
>>
>>101569699
Cancer from bluetooth.
>>
>>101569868
dd (bass) drivers can be farther with smaller diameter tubes, low pass filter
treble tweeters are typically closest to nozzle with wider diameter tube
beyond that decent companies do simulation models to shape FR and other metrics

Can't lie, unimpressed by Hype 4. It'll get returned.
>Build
All good. Shell is beautiful, I don't detect any hint of the "twang defect," mentioned on some Hype 2, Hype 4 units. Fits me great. Pin slots are on the looser end.
>Sound
Easily driven, doesn't ask for power. Sub bass provides solid rumble, crispy and prominent highs. My main issues are the drastic skewing of sub bass over mid bass and bothersome emphasis of upper frequencies. Vocals are too forward and cymbals / high frequency percussion hit too sharp for my liking across several tracks. Techs are frankly average. Resolution and micro detail are below my expectations for the price and configuration.
>Afterword
I have tons of pos but figured why not add modern Thieaudio house sound to the collection. Unfortunately Hype 4 doesn't have special appeal, has some stock tuning irks that go against my preferences, and doesn't stand head and shoulders above other sets I already own, thus is too redundant to keep. Not bad, but not for me and doesn't bring anything new to my collection.

if you like the monarch mk3 but don't want to pay out the ass (because frankly I agree, they're no where near worth $999), look into the XENNS Mangird Top. I have them and did comparison with a guy's mk3 that he let me borrow and they were nearly identical in terms of sound and tuning. Only real difference was the Top had ever so slightly harder hitting mid-bass. They can be gotten for $440ish regularly on sale, too.

>>
>>101572624
Yeah I'm already Mangirdpilled, luv me Tea2. I've always had Top in my mind, but the main thing is I want to order personalized faceplate design if I redeem them. 'ate the stock colorway. I want some dope abolone shell if I do go for it, which probably negates any discounted price. Would be ideal to demo it then and be sure I like it, haven't had the chance yet

Real question is why the fuck you are playing such a horrible game on a even worse platform
>>
>>101576385
Mixed signal digital/analog electronics are hard to design. DAC chips require the user to write a firmware that interacts with the host device including some kind of power saving, and controls the dongle hardware like buttons and leds. It's just not that simple, and for now the chifi dongles have their limitations. The Apple dac/amp chips are custom designed for Apple by Cirrus Logic to be just perfect for the application. When Apple took away the 3.5mm jack, they needed to replace it with something better to keep their customers happy. So we have the Apple 3.5mm adapters. We're lucky they have no compatibility issues with Windows.

doubt anything besides Shokz are IP68 rated. galaxy buds pro 3 are IP57 and akg n400nc are IPX7. almost nothing wired is going to be above IPX4 rated. realistically you need to discard that criteria if you want more options to choose from.
>>
>>101576417
>>101576467
so you'd say the reason it's so cheap is to mitigate backlash/generate goodwill from no longer offering 3.5mm jacks on their devices? considering apple's history of jacking up the price because of it's pedigree i thought this might be the case
>>
>>101576505
That was the theory ever since Apple made the changes many years ago, when people discovered that the new dongle was as good or better than the output from the iphones and laptops.

>P20 are criminally underrated.
P20 had a terrible start because its younger brother P10 got a very cold reception, and for whatever reason they decided to market it as a 14mm huge DD pos. Too bad stuffing the same OEM planar driver with slightly different filters is not enough to keep up with this masquerade for longer than a few days.

do any of these run ldac? that's the only one decent enough to run flacs
there's that somewhat new Aptx Lossless qualcomm released some time ago that runs 1200 kbps but only like 6 phones at the moment got that one and 5/6 are chinese
the other one is the rog phone ultra which is a mid phone

otherwise, if these things dont run some really good codec there really is no point to having them paired with some high end IEM
>>
Thieaudio Hype 2 worth it for 240 euro/260 usd?
>>
>>101586836
Nope, it should have LHDC though. My recent experience with Nothing ear 3 is that it's the codec of the future, however my previous experience with Moondrop's Sparks has me wary of their implementation of high-res wireless audio.
>>
>>101586971
lhdc is good enough, better than aptx hd

issue is not every phone runs these codecs
i got these sennheiser momentum 4 (runs aptx hd and adaptive) and i fucking seethe every time with my samsung phone because samsung are faggots that dont include any aptx upgrade despite hd being open source.

they went so far as to disable LC3 which is supposed to be included in every Android phone according to the licensing, so you cant even install it yourself. all iwth the purpose of shilling their own garbage codecs

if you do get a china phone consider vivo x100 pro since it went global and it runs aptx lossless
now there arent that many bluetooth things that support aptx lossless but eventually they might and that day will be wonderful for those that wear those neckbands with 0.78mm iem connectors

z300 are good IEMs other than being too heavy, but I'd say the looks aren't really their strong part, particularly the gold version. They get scuffed easily too.

It's still Simgot EA500LM. People are starting to forget about it, but it's a nice driver and if you EQ it as you like, it leaves little to be desired. It's just not as resolving as resolution monsters like the Supermix or S12. The S12 trades resolution for planar timbre, a problem that the Supermix 4 mostly avoids.

Canal resonance, not relevant. The EQ for this particular graph doesn't have anything above 3kHz.
>>
>>101589061
Scratch that, it has a filter at around 5.4kHz for a driver resonance, but that's it. Every other filter above 3kHz I haven't included for this pic.

yeah i fucked up my first pair because i left them out like a dumbass while i was running a humidifier. Replaced them and now barely use them as my daily drivers are either my xenns top or mega5est. But i still bust them out from time to time to use since i really enjoy them
