I guess i'm part of the nerds though...

AB is nice, but proton is a faggot and you never know when that retard might want to kill the site next 'cause he is too old to care anymore (spaghetti anyone?).
I certainly wouldn't want to use the cesspool that is nyaa as my backup, with all the dead torrents and shitty mini encodes.
>>
>>102507347
All the albums on red (and more) are available on slsk afaik, the things that are prone to be lost are usually big size stuff like tv shows (specially older than 10 years), or niche films that normies don't care or can't seed for longer than a week. It sucks if you want to survive without private trackers, I've been there and won't go back to that life

Don't know why people on reddit cry about the RED interview - it was easier than OPS and I didn't even revise materials. But anyways, I am really surprised and very glad that RED is a such high quality tracker from their wiki and forums to the actual content. Still a bit uncertain about the economy, it seems like I won't survive being behind the CGNAT. What are the simple ways to get around it? VPN with port forwarding, just rent a seedbox, or something else?

i've gone well over 90 days on my animez and avistaz accounts without downloading anything and my accounts are still working just fine

The thing is I don't really need or want to play these games like uploading a lot just to get on another tracker. I will try to upload some albums and see how its going, but on the end I have to consider some ways to bypass it. Maybe I'll move and the next ISP will provide me a normal IP
>>
>>102508701
>it seems like I won't survive being behind the CGNAT
wait why would you not? as long as you aren't getting ratio by uploading to someone with the same passkey they shouldn't care what your ip address is ever.

I was told everywhere that the difference between a closed and an opened port is very big. I can't say that I have enough experience to really make a conclusion by myself.
>>
Just want to say "Fuck Avistaz"
I am seeding over 500gb of content, have had an account for years - but somehow I am up for a ban if I don't download a torrent for one single 90 day period.

Luckily I made it with one day to spare, but who the hell thought this was a good policy? Idiots ruining an awesome site.
>>
>>102509114
yes the difference is big. tried calling your ISP?
>>
>>102509114
closed port means you can't upload to others with closed port. open port you can up to both.
it's not the end of the world unless you're desperate for every little bit of ratio.

>somehow I am up for a ban if I don't download a torrent for one single 90 day period

>>
>>102509199
They can give you a normal IP for additional fee ($4). But I thought it would be better to pay like $1-$2 more for VPN if it can solve the issue. And while paying two more USD is fine because I'll benefit from it in other ways also, I am not sure is I need to pay for a seedbox if I am not into tormenting just for a sake of torrenting

for whatever reason they just don't seem big on piracy, there's plenty of random public trackers that mostly all have the same shit on them, if you search for stuff in korean with the word torrent in korean you'll find them, then you gotta hunt down eng subs

wasn't sinderella fucked by spaghetti and a massive porn scandal in korea led to some raids on porn content?
or something like that, just from memory
>>
>>102509613
not that i'm aware of, at one point they purged all korean porn which was like the only thing that made the tracker special because making hardcore porn is illegal for korean citizens, even if they make it elsewhere and go back they get charged if caught.
>>
>>102509179

i kinda think it's not a rule for members or something, or maybe it's not actually enforced anymore. i've for sure gone stretches of 60 days without logging in or 90 days of not downloading anything and my acc has never been disabled/deleted.
>>
>>102509179
i don't think that rule is enforced, i see on animez "you must login and download at least 1 torrent per year or your account will be deleted" but i haven't downloaded from here in at least 2 years, probably longer. can still login no problem.
>>
>>102509816
>>102509850
I think the login rule is enforced because I got that email once. But you never know when the other will be enforced as well with shitheads like abi and nematode in command
>>
why are you on a specialty tracker if you're not going to download something in over 90 days? seems like you might not even like asian dramas and cinema if that's the case
>>
>>102509947
I got JPTV which cut down some of aZ's need, PTP took another half
and live action dramas are a lot worse than the shitty TLs of the original novels, partly because text is more convenient and partly because I have way higher expectations for the same trashy story
>>
spaghetti and azacuck... I miss them...
>>
>>102509947

Let me download when I need to, don't enforce shitty rules on me.

>>
can someone actually compare how much japanese movies avistaz has compared to ptp? or chinese movies? people say avistaz has more asian movies compared to ptp but i don't think that's the case. tv shows obviously they'll have more but i'm talking movies exclusively. also my account got disabled for inactivity so i can't even check
>>
>>102510245
>even though it's not enforced
Source?
>>
>>102510530
PTP rarely miss something, unlike btn. For movies the problem is more that ptp would usually miss the English subtitles because people are lazy to upload those externally for no benefit. Other times that torrent would be dead/poorly seeded, not a problem with popular content obviously. It's the same with KG, a good niche site will always have more seeders for their niche than a more general tracker.
Worth noting that Avistaz not always has the best copy, sometimes KG, PTP or even HDB beats them in that regard.
>>
>>102510530
i imagine the number of films is the same but the number of torrents could be in favor of PTP just because people care more about farming ratio there
>>
>>102510743
i mean that's fine, i'm just curious in the actual raw numbers, like filtering japanese or chinese feature movies in the search results for each site. if a site has more unique titles, i wonder how much more.
>>

KG's profile and notoriety is about to increase much more now. someone made a letterboxd list of all the films that are available on KG though it's missing about 20k movies by my estimate. still, it's the longest list on letterboxd now
>>
>>102512277
the letterboxd list system needs a complete overhaul and all these massive every movie ever lists need to be deleted and banned from being made again
>>
>>102512277
I hate Letterboxd faggots so much honestly. This is why we can't have nice things.
>>
>>102512349
i wouldn't mind the massive lists if the lists were actually searchable and had better filtering options. PTP is actually an amazing tool for sifting through lists and discovering movies because you can highly refine your filter options/search it, as well as see the rating underneath the poster. with letterboxd you can't even filter user created lists by countries or language. making a private tracker list on letterboxd is also stupid.

You are thinking of the nth room case, which is probably why they suddenly got scared of having gook porn and junior idol
Then the site went down for a while, a maintenance page saying they were coming back soon appeared for some months, and now it's just down completely again.

I have something to upload and I want to do it. But let's assume I am uploading on home connection with a closed port, probably some people will connect and begin downloading, but then other people will download from these people with an opened port instead of me. And in the end I'll probably get an upload credit equal to the torrent size, because everything else will be distributed by and between connectable people.

Is BHD worth it? Thinking of sending an invite request. I most play games, watch anime and watch Japanese movies, so GGn, AB and AZ all fill my needs pretty well, but occasionally I'll watch an American movie or TV show or something. 1337x usually does me fine but having a PT for stuff like that would be nice.

What exactly is the point of private trackers?
I cannot see any benefit. The entire concept of P2P is that the more people you have downloading and seeding, the more stable everything works. Creating barriers to entry by gatekeeping torrent files behind accounts, and then blocking people from creating accounts, is creating the exact same problem that torrents were meant to get around. They provide free and accessible media, and you're turning around and making it inaccessible, and hiding it behind paywalls.
I have a gigantic library and I've gotten all of it from public trackers. Every file I've ever wanted, I've been able to find somewhere. I've never jumped through the hoops to join a private tracker, and I don't think I ever will. I have 0 interest in seeding terabytes of data when access to what I'm uploading is hidden from everyone who's not a part of a silly club. It makes no sense to me to participate in that system. So what is the point?
>>
>>102523943
the idea is to cull bad actors that just download and to incentivize people to upload more content.
this works, private trackers do usually have better-seeded torrents and more content.
but, obviously, everything goes bad given time
worse mods, worse users, worse rules, etc.

What exactly is the point of mystery cults?
I cannot see any benefit. The entire concept of religion is that the more people you have worshiping God, the better He works. Creating barriers to entry by gatekeeping theosis behind initiation, and then blocking people from initiation, is creating the exact same problem that religions were meant to get around. They provide free and accessible scripture, and you're turning around and making it inaccessible, and hiding it behind private ritual.
I have a gigantic library and I've gotten all of it from religion. Every idea I've ever mused on, I've been able to find written down somewhere. I've never jumped through the hoops to join a mystery cult, and I don't think I ever will. I have 0 interest in performing obscure metaphorical rituals and partaking in psychoactive substances when access to what is expanding my mind is hidden from everyone who's not a part of a silly club. It makes no sense to me to participate in that system. So what is the point?

That's probably has something to do with most private trackers having worse content library that what you could have gotten from the public tracker alternatives (at least before the torrents there died due to lack of seeding).

Too high barriers of entry prevents people from joining the site to upload.
>>
>>102533102
People don't want to get into most private trackers. Not because it's too hard but because most private trackers are shit. The good ones have superior libraries compared to private trackers and specialize in one type of content. For instance you are not going to find all the movies from PTP on your public shitting trackers. Even a general tracker is a step up because it has the same kinds of content as public trackers but people actually seed.

yeah but there was a still a sizeable amount of artfags and film enthusisiasts that didn't know about KG. now they do, especially with more film enthusiasts congregating on letterboxd now. for instance, new releases coming out have more user ratings vs IMDB, same with arthouse movies from any time period. let's take a look at a particular arthouse classic, The Color of Pomegranates, which now has 51k ratings on letterboxd vs 14k on IMDB. IMDB may be much more popular with the general public, but film enthusiasts/buffs are flocking to letterboxd and these are the ones who would alsowant KG to begin with, meaning it's going to gain much more exposure. it's also becoming popular even with directors like sean baker and michael mann using it.

misleading becaues it crunches data from september 15-21 but the list was made 4 days ago on semptember 20, still really fresh. and the decline is actually a false projection as it has incomplete data and hasn't actually tabulated it yet until september 22-28 is over. give it time and you'll see it rise more and sustain unlike the past spike which was from a news article on a tech site not geared towards film enthusiasts.
>>
>>102539759
also apparently he recently deleted the list or privated it along with the meme ptp list as well. imo, i don't think the kg list is necessarily bad because kg focuses on content outside of hollywood so smaller companies don't have the the resources to go after the site or its users. it could give people who are trying to find a certain movie hope that it exists somewhere. but i don't know, it'll still be a lot of sustain exposure

Is this a intentional state of affairs?
Does the rest of the circle intentionally leave applications open only on RED and know that their new members come directly or indirectly from there?
It would make some sense, there are a lot of questions you can ask just because its specifically a music tracker (Spectrogram, Compression, you've seen the guide) so it can ask questions about things people don't know about, usually.

Or maybe I'm just schizophrenic and imagining too much.

It talks about possible donations. Is it possible the sole purpose of
this site is to scam donations?
Is it good that this site tries to look legit by naming What and Gazelle?
And the name Library of Atlantis kind of tries to fake too.
The books "it offers" are taken from a different place.
Who did set up this site?
Can one find an answer to this question?

About joining, I've heard I need to know about video codecs and such... You people realize that it is inhumane for a human being to know about different compression algorithms and the like right? Humans are not suppose to understand such things, we are biological sacks of flesh not a beepity boopity robot. You guys are mentally ill. Besides why should anyone join when the exact same content is available without having to put in fictitious effort? So called "private trackers" make no sense. You people are obviously so bored of life you are putting up artificial obstacles just to have something to challenge in life.

I don't need to know much about video codecs. H264 is king for 1080p and below. HEVC for 4K shit. That's it. Some other autist with knowledge of encoding does it for me and I download it. They actually care about quality unlike the 2gb slop encodes on public trackers. Torrents stay well seeded too. It's a superior experience overall.

Ok final conclusion after some study:
use the commands they give you for bit depth reduction only, but remove the 'dither' part. That second article is scaremongering or something, because removing the dither flag produces a spectral that looks identical to the original, but reads as 24bit. Whereas using the dither flag introduces some funny (inaudible on my equipment) noise to spectral. I don't detect whatever artifacts dithering is supposed to remove audibly or visually so I'm guessing they don't apply when you're just removing padded bits.

Hopefully staff doesn't disagree.

Ok one more fun addition: the noise was from using 'dither -s' specifically (to avoid clipping). So dither itself is fine, but because that one article says to NOT use dithering, use -D in the sox command instead to explicitly not dither. sox doesn't complain about clipping when you do this, and spectrals and sound are identical, so that's what I'm rolling with.
