Shameless repost I just bought a MS33-AR0 and 128gb(32x4) of Registered memory but only after buying I realised the board only supports 96GB of RDIMMS . If I plug them all 4 in will I still get the speed of 4 DIMMS with 96GBs or should I just leave one out as a spare and accept only 3 channels?
Anyone can give any suggestions for my build?budget 2k, eu. sorry am retardhttps://pcpartpicker.com/user/Pauliust9/saved/hM7bkL

>>102792531asking from ignorance, how does a thicker fan make it better?
>>102792531>Is it better than the P12 (MAX) at the same rpms?Probably a wash. Yes thicker is better but the P12 has more blade area and is optimized for lower speeds (such that a $5 fan can be optimized). As someone who did this with a 6kRPM Delta your main problem will be getting it to hit those "same RPMs". It pulls 3.2A max so plugging it into a standard header is out. Means you need to a) find a PWM controller that can do 3.2A or, b) run it with voltage control off an old-style controller. Naturally the second option will mean your minimum speed will be much higher than the advertised 800RPM. Option A would get you proper control but 800RPM is still relatively loud by modern standards and the ball bearing doesn't help either. All in all it's a fun project, and a great way to push the limits of air cooling, but not something you want in your daily rig.>Why don't other fan mamufacturers build 38mm thick fans? There's a few eg. those Fractal ones in the Torrent and ofc plenty of "normal speed" server fans from the likes of Delta. A few 30mm thick desktop fans exist too. I guess they're not common because it fucks with established clearances for radiators and such.
>>102792755SN850X is fine. SN770 is fucked. 24h2 changes the HMB values and older dramless drives with 64mb locked firmware don't like that.

>>102792828They only use 0.33A so using 2 on a header should be fine, right?
>>102792920This has been happening since 26100.2033. If you're on older then you're not affected.
>>102792678The fixTMhttps://community.wd.com/t/windows-24h2-wd-blue-screens/297867/41
>>102792965Oh my bad I was reading the specs for the 8kRPM variant. On Arctic's website they say 0.6A is the max so two on a header would be pushing it (assuming standard 1A headers). Probably fine with safety factor but you really don't want to eat your margins like that - use separate headers.I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I'm somewhat sceptical of Arctic's numbers here. The max current on the 4k variant is less than one fifth of that on the 8k one. I understand there's nonlinearities involved but that's a huge difference - enough for me to break out the current clamps. If they got it wrong it's your house burning down.

>>102793460>feels like a scamFundamentally this is an entertainment device so it's all a "scam" from a puritan's perspective. If you can put that impulse aside you can make a reasonable attempt at optimizing the whole experience - there's diminishing returns on graphical fidelity so, after a certain point, a bigger or faster monitor would be more impactful than a better card. Then there's diminishing returns on that too so at some point you get more out of audio, or peripherals, or furniture. This is of course all within the confines of your budget and personal preferences. If you really like max settings but don't give a damn about how it sounds then, sure, pour the whole budget into the card.

Fractal Design warranty is shit. 3/4 of the fans in my case started making loud ass rattling noises after 6 months. They make you do a video demonstrating the noise on each individual fan. Jewy. Just send me the fans that you get for 50 cents a piece.

>>102800382powerline adapters are hit or miss. i have 4 of the damn things and in my last place (apartment 1970s wiring) they mostly did not /werk/ at all, in my current house which has newer (1980s) electrical wiring they /werk/ until they don't and the red light comes on indicating sub-optimal connection, requiring me to reboot the damn things.a friend with the exact same adapters has no problems with them in his house with 1960s wiring.i mothballed two of them and use one to connect my cat picture NAS to it's backup NAS target because I don't give a shit how long my differential backups take to complete.>highly do not recommend powerline ethernet

>>102800613Thing is. They used to work very well but then there were some house renovations done (new light installs, new power point, aircon) etc etc Ever since then the speeds have dropped to <1mbps when before I was getting full speeds

They work OK for the two mini-PCs I scavenged from the skip that had no WiFi built in.But if you have a PC spend the money on a good WiFi card with an extended wired antenna you can put on your desk and enjoy.
just run the ethernet cable along the skirting board/bottom of the wall

DDR4 > DDR5ram speed doesn't matterif you are considering building a PC, use DDR4DDR5 costs twice as much and you will realize ZERO benefit from the higher clock speedsbe smart. Save your money. You're better off with 2x the amount of DDR4 memory for the same price. Your motherboard will cost less, your performance will be BETTER for less money.DDR5 is a J worded scam, don't fall for it
>>102800796err well it depends on your budget and the type of WiFi router you have>i have pic related but its old now
>>102797743I see no difference between any of them. I will still be on 1080p when I pick this game up at 80% off
>>102800846I tried using DDR4 with my 7800X3D and it broke my motherboard, don't listen to this guy
>>102800967>broke my motherboardthat takes a high amount of genius to accomplish, anon. how did it break your mainboard?
>>102800846>ram speed doesn't matterit does matter>You're better off with 2x the amount of DDR4 memory for the same price. Depends on your workload, but may be true.Generally, you have to use parts that work together. If you're using DDR4 RAM you can't use any of the new CPUs requiring DDR5.Unless saving money is the highest priority I don't see why you'd go with DDR4.

>>102801574see what's available before committing to 100hz
>>102801574120hz minimizes compatibility issues with 60/30/24hz content, and 120+ shouldn't be a whole lot more expensive in general.Besides, you won't have the exact same performance in every game, and I imagine you won't always have the same hardware either. But make sure it has gsync or whatever.
>>102800846>You're better off with 2x the amount of DDR4 memory for the same price. You need to have enough memory for your workload, having more beyond that doesn't really do anything for performance.
>>102801654well stated but how does the anon know what his workload will be?windows loves RAM, the "muh minimum" spec is OK for grandma to find boytoy pics to rub one out with but don't do it justice. 64GB is I think the minimum for anyone /gayming/>with 128GB my system never pages to disk>highly recommend RAMmaxing if you can swing it

I want more storage in my pc (have 1 m2 ssd currently)The options would be:m2 slot 2 (but it's directly below the gpu so I don't really want to put something there for temperature reasons)m2 slot 3 (but it only has 2 pci-e lanes)sata (that's what I wanted to go for when I built this machine but they were suddenly out of stock/jumped in price so I left it for later)This would be mainly for storing files, so write performance is of less concern.Any input on which option to go for?

Help me /pcbg/ I'm retardedIs bandwidth limited by whatever a monitor supports?Let's say that I check my monitor specs on the MSI website and it indicates that it supports DP 1.4a and HDMI 2.1. Regardless of cables, am I cucked if I use displayport?
>>102801841depends on the max resolution/refresh rate/bit depth of the monitor
>>102801857It's a 360hz 1440p monitorIt struggles without DSC on displayport at least. Can't reach 240hz unless I use YPbPr422. I guess I will test this out.
>>102801811Unless it's 5.0 (MAYBE 4.0) it won't run hot and will be perfectly fine under your GPU. Just put it in that slot, run furmark for like 30 min and check the nvme temps occasionally if you're paranoid. Worst case scenario you move it to the other slot and it'll likely still outperform the sata
>>102801875Well blasted buttpirates, I didn't need to ask. Indeed through HDMI I can get 240hz without fucked up colors with HDR enabled and without DSC. I guess I'm using DP no more.
