>>102823963Okay maybe my wording was a bit wrong. To put it simply, I just want to know if what that graph is showing is accurate. As in if that the CPU and the integrated GPU combined are using a total of 128,8W? Because most resources about the 8600g claim only half that much, which I can only assume is because they are for some reason not taking into account the power usage of the GPU.

>>102824047>As in if that the CPU and the integrated GPU combined are using a total of 128,8W?yes in that case the GPU and CPU are using less than 128,W of course, as you can see in that picture it's 64W and 64W only. Even if the CPU and GPU were at 100% it would be 64W only.

Not to mention it's inherently very power efficient, and you can underclock for like half the power draw and 75% the performance (at least). And to be honest, there isn't really anything else that is even near it in that regard. Everything else either eats a lot more or the same for a lot less performance (even if the card is initially cheaper).

The 4090 is currently selling for above MSRP and has been for most of its life. You can get a decent 4080 Super for MSRP + 3% ($1030) in the USA.
>>102825452Either one. The adapter that comes with the GPU is probably more reliable than a no-name brand PSU's cable though. But it's fine if it's a reputable brand, like Corsair.
>>102825447I would guess 30% in raster, maybe more in RTDon't let the number of shader cores (or TFLOPs) fool you: performance doesn't scale linearly with either once you're considering the biggest dies
>>102825452adapters in general are baduse a single cable from gpu to psupreferably from your psu manufacturer but cable mod makes decent ones (cables, not adapters)
>>102825489Has the 4080 Super ceased production? Otherwise I don't see them just straight up replacing it with the 5080 as a straight upgrade in the same price tier.
>>102825532I doubt there's oversupply of AD103. New graphics cards are always better value than older ones at MSRP (although sometimes not by much), especially higher up in the stack. Nvidia mostly competes with itself, meaning it releases more attractive graphics cards to stimulate sales. Same reason it released the RTX 40 Super refresh with revised pricing
>>102825514That's a respectable improvement. It should remove the need for DLSS in a number of 4k titles.
Anons, after lurking for a few months I finally nutted up and built a new PC. Only problem I'm running into is that when I restart from Windows the mobo doesn't reboot. >>102825600Yeah but xx90 cards arent meant for consumers. they are the titan enthusiast replacements. hence why they're like $2000+
Why do people keep recommending the 4070 super over the 7900GRE?
>>102825690Against MSRP, yes, but not against street pricing. The 3080 was selling for $900+ right up until the 4070 released for $600. In this case the MSRP and street pricing of the RTX 40 series is similar, so if pricing stays the same, performance has to go up. It's possible that the 5080 will return to OG 4080 MSRP, so $1200, while being approximately 4090 perf (and that would still be better value than the 4080 Super, although not by much), but I doubt it. The RTX 40 Super refresh lineup increased value over the launch 40 series lineup, and that's the trend you'll see continue with the RTX 50 series. I don't think it'll be as good as RTX 20 Super --> RTX 30 based on MSRP only (e.g., $1100 2080 Ti perf released for $500 as a 3070), but I would expect value improvements in line with the RTX 40 --> RTX 40 Super refresh. Nvidia pushed out either 15% more performance for the same money, or the same performance for 15% less money. I would think that would be the minimum improvement we're looking at for the 5070 and above
>>102825330I prefer 72fps to 60 even on singleplayer but fair enough
>>102825768
>>102825740>Yeah but xx90 cards arent meant for consumersWrong. Nvidia explicitly markets them as gaming cards. Them having a dual purpose doesn't automatically negate that. >>102832042you should have stopped using windows since they dropped 7. literally why do you people still bottleneck yourself with DirectX & WDDM
>>102832075Mainly because linux is usually a second thought if one at all for a lot of programs
>>102832021I don't need """support""" whatever that means, and if I did, LTSC is supported until 2032.
>>102832102it means eventually gpu drivers wont even be made for it like 7 or 8.1. nvidia driver basically halts and tells you to upgrade windows.
>>102832114>nvidialole...
>>102832097For productivity programs maybe but they run fine in VM on Linux.
anyone here running gaming VM's under troonix?
>>102832144You dont need VMs for gaming. Just run it bare metal. VMs are for DRM so up their ass its basically windows malware like anti cheats or adobe drm. even more reason to stop using windows on bare metal btw.
If AMD runs so much better on Linux and steam supports Linux, could I get 4090 like raster performance if I build a machine around Linux and a 7900?
>>102832242It doesn't work that way."runs so much better" is different than "faster".In the simplest form: On Linux AMD just works contrary to NVIDIA
>>102832260the irony is barely just works. but that's AMD hardware in a nutshell. at least it is upstream.
>>102831913>>7900x3dIt had a discount during Prime Day >>102831709>what kind of monitor are you usingIt's 1440p @ 260hz at the moment. >>102831763I'm going to ask Amazon about that because I must have missed it by a small window. They're usually good at this kind of thing so I'll update if I get anything back. >>102831749>you get fans, a better design and better thermals with the pop air for the same price. You're right it does seem better. I have fans from my old case though so maybe it all balances out in the end? I much prefer the non-window option for the Fractal one too. I can't cancel the order as it's dispatched but I can have it sent back if youtube videos further convince me. As I said I'll have it for a very long time so I'd prefer to get a great functional case. Thanks all for the input
>>102832299it is currently on amazon.de, 3-4 days shipping
>>102832299>It had a discount during Prime DayThat's not a reason anonhow much would a 7600(x) or 7800x3d have been?If you're just gaming, the 7800x3d would have beaten it and 7600x would likely have saved you a lot
>>102823613yeah ddr4 2x16gb is half the price of ddr5 2x16gb (40 vs 80). alternative is 2x8gb ddr5 but i think ddr4 is better at that point since some modern games at 1080p can run slower if you only have 16gigs afaik
>>102823695imo>TVif you have friends that come around so you can play vidya together. 4k is nice but idk about using 1440p on native 4k; at that point i think 1440p native monitor will be better>monitorif you're mainly on your own and sitting fairly close (arms length) from monitor.and idk your budget but oled monitor's seem like the best choice out of the panel types
>>102823531>Nobody is buying ddr4 in 2024damn bro I didn't know I could put DDR5 in my am4 build, thanksWhile I wouldn't recommend building a DDR4 system from scratch, a lot of people will be upgrading existing systems & upgrading from say a 1600+1060ti to a 5700x3d+7600/4060ti will likely also need more ram
>>102824103>>1028240423060 12gb > 6600 imo but latter is cheaper4060 > 3060 12gb if you want power efficiency (4060 has less vram though but more horse power) (3060 can be undervolted to 4060 power levels but will perform typically worse outside of vram intensive games i suppose)>B760 MSI Pro or Asus T UFwhy this mobo? because its good or is it also power effecient?
>>102824146>>1028242064060>6600 for power efficiency afaik. plus it's a more powerful card. an undervolted 4060ti might do better at the same stock TDP as a 4060 but i'm not sure
>>102832317I'm a brainlet, which CPU would you plug into that configuration considering I was okay with that price tag? I also don't mind saving money but it's only second priority. First priority is not having to upgrade for a longer period of time, so future proofing.

>>102833058it will be a bit faster and cost what the 7800x3d cost on release
>>102832412Probably just a 7800x3d or if you plan to play at high resolutions even just a 7600(x)The 7800x3d at current prices seems to be about 30 pounds cheaper (while performing better in games), but the 7600 is 250 cheaperOf course, there's not really a GPU you can upgrade to so the savings can't be placed in other parts to get better performance but hey.If you also went with a thermalright, you could have saved like 300+ quid which you could for example put towards a better monitor which (if you don't already have one) make a pretty big differenceIf you already have a good monitor, maybe a better chair or better keyboard, etc.
Good CPU for a 7800 XT? I usually multi task a few things when i play games(emulators/VMs).

>>102833310Depending on your non-gaming load you might want to target at least 8 cores. It's speed of course depends on your games/res/hz.For the record I use to multitask as well with VM's, automation and other kind of shit and I've found that anything newer than Zen+/Haswell with at least 6c/12t and enough memory does the job.>t. >>102833131Yeah you're a legend, makes perfect sense. For sure could use the money for a new desk and that type of stuff. Appreciate the help a lot.
>>102833647yeah, it's a common mistake that people who have the money to spend just go for the biggest numbers without wondering if it's what they need or efficient, but it'll be fine, at least your blender will run better :)
An anon recommended one of these earlier and I thought it was a good rec, I completely forgot about the card sagging issue. Does anyone have any other similar things a setup might benefit from that people don't usually add to their lists? I guess a good surge protector goes without saying but there's gotta be a couple more similar things.
