>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
A private tracker is a torrent website that provides the same functionality as a public tracker but is invite-only. Each member share common goals: collecting, preserving and discussing media.

that's outdated. it should be "rank to Torrent Master"

The access count is really weird, I use 4chan constantly and daily, yet it's smaller than my AB accesses.
Too bad there isn't a more proper counter. Maybe dumping the history and counting it myself.

BTN is 16k for me, while being there for less than a year. That's 40 access per day, and I definitely didn't do that much. AB 48k for 4 years. The math would about check out, but then this browser is only around 2 years old.

Don't listen to tasteless coping seethers. I would consider encodes if they were done from a master file, not transcodes from a lossy source.
>>
>>102933504
>consider
you can ONLY download encodes from masters and transcodes from lossy sources
these are called remuxes/bdmvs and encodes, repectively
>>
>>102933555
Learn to read, moron. I obviously used the term encode in the p2p sense, aka transcode.
>>
>>102933646
and what does transcode mean? in the p2p sense, of course
>>
>>102933649
encode from an already lossy source. That's how you get generation loss.
>>
>>102933656
so encode means transcode and transcode stays the same, these p2p definitions sound kinda stupid
>>
>>102933665
Transcode is like a lost word in the p2p world, or people wrongly use it to refer to an even worse crap that is an encode from a p2p encode (banned in reputable trackers). Even some encoders said to me that blu-rays are lossless lmao.
>>
>>102933686
edit: wrongly -> only
>>
>>102933686
And so, what did I say wrong?
A BDMV is an encode from the master file, and an encode from the BDMV is a lowly transcode with generation loss.
A REMUX is just a BDMV without the folders and extraneous files.
>>
>>102933721
you said nothing wrong, you just failed to understand that I knew these things
>>
>>102933740
Well, I emphasized the word "consider" because it is a little ambiguous whether you're calling "encodes done from a master file" barely enough or if you're defining the sources as encodes.
>>
>>102933759
I was replying to someone asking if remuxes are worth it, or if they should grab encodes. My answer was that personally I don't want transcodes (which are called "encodes" in the p2p world), and I would only consider them if the groups had access to master files and did better encodes from that than other available untouched sources. Clearer?
>>
>>102933781
Fair enough sir, you win
>>
>>102929918
>but I don't want radarr to download a movie automatically!
You don't have to. You can manually search all the releases from all your indexers from radarr and handpick the one you want. Or you can download the torrent file from a website and add it to your torrent client, it'll be picked up by radarr automatically. Radarr allows you to do more, not less.
>symlinks are good for libraries
yes if you keep a bunch of orphaned files in your download directory because torrents get trumped all the time but you have to keep the file at the same location for the symlink work
>but du is confused!
The files in my torrent directories are a subset of the files in my library. I never have to worry about managing my download direcotires. If I delete a file in my library, the associated torrent gets tagged as not hardlinked, so I know I can delete it. Files that are in my download directory but aren't associated to a torrent get moved to a trash directory.

The arr suite is the best way to download an organize movies, shows, music and books. Which is why it's used by everyone.
>>
>>102934548
for music and especially books its really bad. lazylibrarian and picard are much better

>>
>>102933721
>generation loss
Good encoders try to get the encode as transparent to the original source as possible. Tards like you think of lossy video the same way people think of lossy audio and don't understand the goal here, which is to remove bloat while delivering basically the same thing. Sure there's some loss but is it perceptible loss? Can you tell the difference? What about all the cases where there's no detail above 720p and the 1080p remux is just a fat pile of bloat?

I'm sick of uploading. Maybe I should call it quits and just wait for an easier path into BTN. I'm already in PTP and HDB and can get almost everything I would ever want or need.
>>
>>102939669
BTN isn't that worth it.
You can get TVV for old stuff and some random tracker like BLU or HUNO to get the most recent slop.
Either way, BTN's content isn't all that good and most of it is so popular you can find it anywhere.
>>
>>102939718
I'm in TVV too but you cannot connect it to sonarr. I'm in BHD, should I be fine then though? I've def run into times where TVV, HDB, and BHD didn't have what I wanted and I filled a request which was filled from BTN.
>>
>>102939760
Well, I may not be a very TV-oriented user, but BTN was as big of a surprise coming from TVV as was PTP coming from every other movie tracker.
The question is, is the struggle to get in worth it compared to what you're missing?

Will RED fuck me if I stop seeding MP3s that didn't end up getting downloaded? I read somewhere you have to keep seeding until you've uploaded at least a full copy of it and it makes me scared of trying to pad my upload count with mp3 transcodes of my uploads as well.
Snatchers seem to not give a fuck
>>
>>102939784
>>102939798
I guess not. I care more about completing the "holy trinity" than I care about the content. I'm fine waiting and filing a request on x site. Being ratioless would be nice, but not really needed. I'm set for life on p much every pt I'm on.

Sounds like it's just a little more content and convenience. Thanks anon.

For some reason I thought BTN would be as big of a jump as PTP was.

No one is snatching MP3 files. Only for really popular artists.

You don't need to seed them indefinitely, but if you stop seeding they will be deleted, and your upload count will decrease, along with your class.
So it's best to just keep them seeding, if you already got a chance to upload them. It's not like they take up any real space anyways.

What about the encodes that improve upon a poorer source? Pretty rare for live action but common for anime since the bdmv pressers always seem to fuck it up.
>>
>>102932704
The remux will be better. Quite a few sources can't be reencoded transparently with any file size reduction, yet there's always a compromised encode.

Not sure if you're trolling or...

Security through obscurity will only get you so far.
Eventually some script kiddy will come along and wreck havoc, just for the lulz.

You can't really run a tracker without knowing how to secure stuff yourself. Or at least without having someone else on board that knows the basics.

You can install UNIT3D and be halfway to success. I think Vinnie has ironed out most of the bugs, but that's really not saying a lot since it had so many vulnerabilities originally.

As long as you keep your public facing shit secured, you should be alright. Just be careful who you let in.

>yes if you keep a bunch of orphaned files in your download directory because torrents get trumped all the time but you have to keep the file at the same location for the symlink work

Yep, that is the idea; the symlink makes it explicit that the destination is not the source-of-truth, and so one should update it if source paths change. I personally just think it is much easier to identify a broken symlink than a hardlink that unexpectedly no-longer has multiple files pointing to the same inode, and certainly easier than identifying equivalently "orphaned" reflink clones.

I do not personally want the item in my library to continue working should the source get removed. I guess, think of it like errors as values, where I am forced to handle the situation when it arises instead of potentially not realizing we're no longer on the "happy path".

That's fair, and if it is more convenient for you, do your thing. But I don't think it's for me; I don't want to be in a situation where state gets out of sync -- e.g., perhaps the torrent client crashes or otherwise doesn't get to save the tag; again for me, I don't ever want to be in a situation where the issue goes unnoticed, but I also don't want to then have to overengineer some sort of state synchronization or atomic deletion to make sure all references actually, truly always get removed.

I'm aware of the manual search, but last time I used any of the *arr tools, I don't think they actually let you view the full-detailed descriptions of torrents in the same way you'd see them if you were actually on the given site, right? Plus, for me, what I meant is also things like being able to view the comments that happen on things like torrent-groups for a given film on PTP -- people will often discuss the differences between particular versions and so on. I'm pretty sure I'd lose that nuance that I want if I were to use radarr or similar.

RE: being able to manually download the torrent and pass it to Radarr, I guess, since that would presumably be my workflow 99.9% of the time, I am just not sure what advantage that would have over simply adding it to my client directly instead of putting yet another service in the middle. Maybe I am missing some of the benefits - I don't know.

Always thought *arr suite are for plug-and-play and if you are willing to ignore its quirk without fixing it. My workflow have flexget does the fetching torrents and do some rudimentary regex for renaming and placing media, but I can just just leave it there for better library management programs (e.g beets for music) to handle it and flexget would just leave it. Radarr and Lidarr autistically wrestle me for the right to manage my library is never my thing. Lidarr also still runs into bugs where it just deletes your album in certain cases.
Basically:
Flexget for central automation
Jackett for indexing
Beets, etc. for more advanced library management.

I don't understand the "creating content" part of the wiki. Does this mean you have to like do a Blue-Ray rip and share it or something? How's that different from filling requests?
>>
>>102948770
a request is just someone asking for a specific thing and giving a reward for it
you can spend your own money/time to create content, say encoding a movie from the bluray or buying a dvd and ripping it.
but the only reward you get for the ones above are satisfaction and the upload bump.
You could first look at the requests and find a dvd from there and buy it, now you not only get the upload reward but also the bounty reward

The quality isn't being compromised. Some autist did detailed comparisons between the source and the encode to make sure of it. If there were any technical flaws with the source he also corrected them which your bloat shit will retain.

>technical flaws
it's the producer's flair, your dumb compression just crushes artistic intent for the sake of a few pennies' worth of bytes
>>
>>102949177
"Producer's flair" no retard it's technical issues introduced in the process of transferring and encoding the bluray. Here's a basic writeup of work done on some movie:
>The POL source is the best available, however it does have many dirty lines which CtrlHD encode is full of as well. I fixed them with overlay method and BalanceBorders. Proper audio was taken from US source (with a -2273ms delay).
>>
>>102949214
>here's how we screwed with the original movie
I sure hope you don't fall for this garbage, anon.
Soond, they'll have thousands of filters without you knowing and none of the original movie is left.
Just look at anime encoding autists and their fanfic edits, "fixing" the video by distorting it all into their personal style
>>
>>102949247
You don't get the benefit of autists downloading every available source and taking screenshots of frames to compare them. You don't get the benefit of them autistically fixing common technical problems. You just blindly download remuxes that may not even be the best available source, how do you even know if people say something else is superior now? I mean you said you think it's artistic intent so I already know you're a complete fucking tard who shouldn't be listened to. You have a collection of bloated garbage that you think is gold. The only reason to take remuxes over good encodes is if reputable encoders aren't touching them and you should still pay attention to what people are saying about the different sources available.

HDB and to a lesser extent PTP are autism factories. We are beneficiaries of their autism even if we are not afflicted with it ourselves. If you're not taking advantage of it you're doing it all wrong. Pay attention to what they're saying and follow along. If you're going to be retarded and download remuxes you still benefit by looking at which source the best encode used and getting the remux of that. If you're on PTP where inferior sources can coexist with superior ones it's especially important to pay attention.

because you faggots are like women

there was a reason i had to resort to creating trackerless torrents and seeding on open torrent network DHT.
i have 100 things to share....both public and private trackers reject me trying to humiliate me. i still havent gotten my approval from the pirate bay.

it never was about people who want to seed and share
it always was about reddit tier control, banning and making people beg you.
these faggots get off on rejecting peope and acting like girls

FACT: public torrents die after 8 days
FACT: there are more seeded private than seeded public torrents
FACT: there are more peers private torrents than public, despite public tracker users outnumbering private by MANY MANY MANY times
FACT: multiple studies have shown private trackers have content that is unavailable on public trackers
FACT: there is NO requests system on public trackers, while the request fill percent is very high on private
FACT: full disks go unseeded on public trackers, if they even make it there
FACT: public trackers are monitored by multiple goverments, copyright trolls, and literally anyone who wants since it's so easy
FACT: there is NO quality control on public trackers
FACT: most public tracker users prefer LOW QUALITY releases, like YTS, so they are the most seeded

Is there any way I can get rTorrent and ruTorrent running on Windows, even if it's through a VM? If not, can qBittorrent handle 2k+ torrents?

Yes, I recommend you use qbit headless qbittorrent-nox
>>
>>102968378
But to answer your question I am fairly certain you can use the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)
>>
>>102968378
Docker or WSL on Windows. And yes, qbit can handle a lot. Some people have more than 10k torrents on qbit

>Docker
A docker is when two homosexual men, one or both uncircumcised, inserts the member into the foreskin of the uncircumcised person's member, thus docking their two members.
