too many audio software/plugin devs are hacks. just because some of them succeeded in their marketing doesn't mean the quality is all that good. like when you see amateur music artists/producers, most of the time they seem really delusional like what exactly do they think they have to offer to the audience. you can make a living as a mediocre musician but many people don't even get to that stage, plugin companies go bankrupt too or they stay at a hobbyist level.
how do i use ai to generate midi drum patterns
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=PDKjcMsmlQsthe songwriting in this is insanely boring to my ears, it's a chore to listen to. you'd let it play in the background or just listen to the sounds and maybe the bassline. then some classically trained nerds might come up with some similarly wacky composition/songwriting if they try really hard but the end product falls flat when they don't have professional production quality and marketing etc.

>>103044756sorry to put you on the spot but do you have any theory as to why it might be that only a small number of people like >>103039168 and myself can hear a sound quality issue in arturia synths (pigments, CS-80 V) and in omnisphere. those plugins get a lot of praise but to me it really doesn't sound good. for example tate mc rae - greedy uses an omnisphere preset and that song was a huge hit but it's clear to me that they haven't figured out the absolute top tier production quality so a bunch of her other songs are far less likely to be hits than the songs from the top artists. is it just signal to noise ratio and having a listening environment with low ambient noise and perhaps a smooth frequency response (so that you hear all the details with nothing being particularly hidden/masked by dips/peaks in the frequency response). or might it be phase related since humans can generally cope with some amount of phase rotation per octave and maybe their listening setup doesn't have the ideal phase response so they're not really hearing if one synth has a better phase response than the other since everything they listen to has messed up phase anyway. dan worrall said in one of his video that he didn't hear minor phase issues as long as it was equal across both stereo channels but some people in the comments said that they did hear it although it wasn't the cleanest test since he was casually talking while toggling it on and off.

Okay, quick update. At the start of the year I asked you guys about learning to play the piano to impress the Church choir girl.Turns out work got in the way (I know, wagie wagie etc), and I kept postponing it. Also, I came to realize sometime about may, june, idk that I didn't actually like the choir girl, but a younger cunny. So I gave up on her. A few weeks later she had a boyfriend. I hope she's happy.Anyway, I finally started piano last month, and now, after two months, I finally played "happy birthday". I'm thinking of buying my first keyboard (cheapest casio or yamaha) this month, waiting for black friday/11.11/assorted november discounts.Dunno, just felt like bumping your thread with a random personal anecdote. Hopefully one day I'll be as cool as you guys so I can get all the girls.
>>103045090imo look for a midi controller although you might need a computer upgrade depending on what you're using now. you might have some luck finding a decent midi controller on the used market. then some pirated software like i hope vi labs modern d comes out soon it will btfo any casio or yamaha built in sounds.
>>103045128I was thinking the cheapest casio/yamaha with MIDI support. Which was the second cheapest I found anyway. As for buying used, I don't know. I'm not knowledgable in this things and don't know what I should look for not to get scammed. And I doubt I'd have the time to go after sellers to see the product instead of just buying online without even looking at it. So I feel like new would be better in this case. But my teacher said she'd look into used from people she know, and I'm sure she would know.I'll see what she turns up, and how the prices of the new things change the next few weeks. As for computer, I have a bretty gud desktop which was overkill for my mindless browsing a few years ago, when I bought it. Dunno if it's good enough now. As for software I'd go with whatever you guys recommend for linux. But I'd look into it after I get the keyboard.
>>103045128Just did a quick search on that same shop (biggest shop in bumfuck nowhere, niggerland): there's a controller with just 2 octaves for the same price as the casio ct-s200. The only "controller" cheaper than that is for djs, with no keys but two spinny things. Yeah, prices are weird over here.
I only vaguely know of drum replacement/retriggering from formerly being a rawk person so may be dumb, but is there a vst that would help accommodate say, if i wanted to replace or sequence audio to the rhythm of one track?Or a simpler and more common case for me: sequence a single kick one shot to align with just the first tracks chopped audio? For breaks and other easily predictable stuff i've done quantize-aligned hot swaps but that was a jankier and much more specific version of what i'm in need of lol. There's like very frequent autism chops of like 1-3 minutes per audio clip at random not always in time intervals so that's not a realistic solution at all.Too tedious and time consuming to do manually, obviously.Another nice feature from the video editing world: smart snap alignment of clips.

>>103065181have you played with animoog? recently found out about it as one artist i listen to's "secret weapon"drums are really distracting and too repetitive. too much treble on them, they don't blend into the mix, and not enough dynamics in the rhythm they're playing imo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_fqOf203nAthis annoys me, it's supposed to be a good moog type of emulation, but the presets are cinematic type and uses hans zimmer's name for marketing reasons, it's kind of disillusioning to see these sequencer presets that don't require any skill to play and the very slow ambient pads that would fit in a movie sound track but would be tricky to use in a song, on the other hand i think the sounds used in BRAT are a bit too far on the other extreme of minimalism, i want a range of synth sounds that includes the darude sandstorm, the hampsterdance song and 2 UNLIMITED kind of sound design

>>103071325>if you had tips on the mix/mixing process and how it sounds so far.musically sounds ok, mix has a lot of high frequency noise (see picture) and clips at 0db throughout after intro. reduce the volumes of the guitar tracks a little to avoid clipping. as for the noise, you can try and filter it out but might end up sacrificing some of the guitar's high frequencies in the process. ideally you want a clean signal from guitar mic/amp/or whatever to what you used to record it.>>103072198>, but how do I make it 90s?everything is louder than drums. balance it out better then it will sound 90s.

Is there a better market for repaired/modified synths than fucking reverb?I finally got around to replacing the EL-foil dead backlight screen with a new LED screen, removing the step-up transformer, and doing an internal->external battery mod on my 1990 KORG Wavestation EX. I had to order like 50,000 resistors to get the few specific ohms I needed, and now I have enough left over to do these same repairs/mods on 5 more units. I see units with dead backlight screens for $450 on ebay, reverb, etc. so I'm also not sure what a good price would be with the new screen, transformer delete, battery mod etc. Any ideas?

>>103079592no idea on the pricing, idk what good state ones go for. also mods don't necessarily add value and might subtract value for a prospective buyer so maybe don't go through all that work when you could just refresh it to stock

I guess i will get back to this hobby and i will show you a thing or two. try that circle of fifths anons if you have a blank, try it with different vst and presets even lay down some chords. try 3 chord tricks also these are also fun for getting the initial melody.A pure minor! do it. or try a Dorian mode
uh huh... anyway...not reading...i'm doing some break waveshape resampling for the groove/top center of a tune because skee mask; naturally you start throwing stuff and doing minor little things in front of that asymetric thing because it can drastically change the results, as everybody knows it's kinda...airwindows guitar conditioner lolmetal? nah bro we're chilling out with this one. great tone shift, thanks Chris.
It seems DAW in linux is really kind of getting there. I remember I could try a few of them due to old hardware. some missing cpu instrustions. Bitwig or what? would prefer free for now, would buy next month for sure. Or will ableton actually run with the register import tricks in wine? Or should i install windows to be sure i got the best? I kind of do not want to install windows.
>>103086253>waveshape resampling for the groove/topnew shit pal, is retarded. be nasty to me i will be nasty to you that is how the real world works.
>>103086253tell me at least what you want to do with the sound? I might know... and i am not kidding, just tell me what you're trying to do and i might have a more effective lag free way.
>>103086320can't tell if i'm just dissociated or this is just gibberish>>103086329distortion similar to the groove thing in the backgroundhttps://iliantape.bandcamp.com/track/50-euro-to-break-boosti already got it but... thanks,,
>>103086295it's either bitwig or Reaper
if i know what to do with a sound to make it a way you want i will tel you and if i do not know i will say i don't know but i will look.
>>103086339>https://iliantape.bandcamp.com/track/50-euro-to-break-boostits just bit crush...
>>103086369or clipping
>>103086383>>103086369but do not over do it, slight is fine, anything more is gabber or schranz or something
>>103086408>>103086383>>103086369which trip are you
sound like they control it so it effects the start, then the effect ends before sample is done. consider that also.
>>103086419as in just a slight small grit on a sample, perhaps even a fade out. You can never know till you try to recreate.
>>103086416i'm having a party and none of you are invited, i decided to come here and blatantly take over your thread. And I do not care about what you think.
>>103086478
maybe i will create my own general if you hate talking technical
but you will not push me around or out, so give up. kind of disappoint desu, the last time i did this the interest was fully of good forums and youtube channels etc all helping each other. it seems the losers took over the internet.never mind.
loser = sexless incel virgins btw. your time is coming to an end, your have the creativity of a fucking pig, no one likes your music so if you want better out of it then listen, its only a comment you fucking daft ass, don't take it to heart...
>>103086339its also in a reverb, damped base, probably some compression and layed kicks, layed with some noise percussion imo, it could be many things desu. got it, so what ever man, but you should try many things there is more than one way.
>>103086518>>103086540>>103086565
>>103086700and it just so happens i like that kind of sound and would wish to also find out what they did, so can't just glossy over it.
>>103086719if you weren't so annoying i'd have just shared the exact chain with you
probably layered samples tbfh, there is some reverb but how much before the master? i could not tell you
>>103086730or maybe its just stereo effect, they are making the high end more expanded.
i will say this one more time i do not care do not try to bully me at all, i am talking about time when we would simple listen and use our ears and watch the greats and we would learn this way ok not your way of well use a tool. The sound i hear is some typical sound, its not new, the producer though is obviously exceptional to do this. and so damn well it has you and me guess as to what they did to produce that sound. So stop arguing and learn to research and study to find out how they done that and no just oh i know i got it. There are main ways to do that but unless you know you wont have the sonics of that exact sound.
i could teach hardtechno because it was a silly thing i wanted to know, for example.
>>103086837>hardtechnoits schranz.exe works on my machine.
it could be a literal preset, even the beat could be baked into a preset, so the artist himself might not know much about what goes into it
>>103086855its fucking compression man and silly tricks with 2 kick drums, the kick drums have to work together. You place one 4/4 then you have the other land just before, one that hits first must not cancel the other aka levels not sidechain as in its there but you barely here it, delays kind of work but i'd avoid that unless you know what you are doing. yeah i will have to do it again to know.
and no one ever tells you because people are elitist... No fucking changebut will show hardtecho soon
I will submit a 90s trance version of Thick Of It
i will get attacked i do not care.most anons right do not appreciate sound spectrum, your drums and shit is not gonna fit in there with your pads and shit, because they take up the same spectrum in sound, so you either need EQ or lower one to allow the other to sound. Because that us how the spectrum actual works, if something is using the same frequency range and is higher than what you wish to hear you will not hear the other due to it being on the same frequency range. you also need to consider wave cancellation, take 1 wave form, then create one which is equal, then invert one wave form and pas into the same channel you will hear nothing this is called wave cancellation.
>>103087036in the case of eave cancellation it matters not if you lower it, it will still cancel, in my thinking i will assume it will lower the volume, but i be wrong it might infact cancel it all out. So consider that if you have problems, there is nothing more to ad to cancellation is well know.you want to make fucking techno don't you? :-)
we will bounce oscillators around, we will align kick drums, we will compress all to death, we then raise the gain.
