So fan configuration makes way bigger difference than I thought. So pic related is a simple airflow diagram of my current rig. Note the top case fan marked in red. I previously had it as an exhaust, figuring three intakes, three exhausts would make a good balance. In the game I typically play, my CPU sat at 80c. This is within normal ranges, but after some thought, I flipped it to an intake since it was in front of the CPU cooler and I figured it would get it more cool air. Now, in the same game, 45c. Absolutely crazy difference. Just flipping one fan. For those curious, its a rig I put together in 2020. 10700k w/ dark rock pro 4, msi 3070, Phanteks P300a case. What's the absolute minimum GPU for high refresh rate gaming on a 1440p 165hz monitor and also for 4k gaming on a 4k 144hz TV (TV gaming will mainly be single player games that don't require more than 60 fps). I'm seeing ryzen 5700 and rtx 4060 prebuilts for sub £600 but I don't think a 4060 will be capable of what I want out of it. >>103070341This would be DDR5 so you want 1DPC for max clocks - stick to 64/96GB. Also please bear in mind my info comes from somebody posting some benchmarks here over a year ago. In the current state of play it may be better to clockmaxx with single rank (CU)DIMMs.
>>103070342cooling will depend on the type of CPU you have purchased, for example a high end Intel CPU such as the 14900k can suck down up to 300w or more on a full load so you would ideally need to get a large aio (all in one) liquid cooler 360mm or bigger, whereas a part such as the Ryzen 7 7800x3d will not normally exceed 105w so most air coolers can handle it just fine

>>103070222Higher capacity RAM DIMMs (32 A-die modules or 48GB M-die modules) are dual rank vs single rank for 16/24GB sticks, which gives you some minor improvement due to rank interleaving (but dual rank memory struggles to achieve high speeds). Also just having more ram can improve responsiveness. I play in 1080P and dont plan on buying a new monitorany time soon. Should I upgrade my GPU or can the 5600XT still handle 1080P stuff?I really wanted to play Monster Hunter Wilds, but after playing the demo on lowest settings and getting artifacted Nintendo 64 image quality at 30 FPS, I figured that I needed to consider an upgrade.
>>103070785The case is good but the QC is rather bad desuI have one and the gap between the io port and the front panel of the case has an uneven gap on the top left that's rather ugly

>>1030707915600XT is the minimum specs for that game, you'll probably see better performance with the 5700X3D with that card but it is falling behind. the new gen of GPUs is out in January, I would see how things are with the CPU upgrade and try to hold out until then.
>>103067044If you're pleased with the performance of the 4000 series or AMD card you want, and the next generation is literally just a couple months away, wait for the new generation to release. If it causes a price drop of the card you currently want, get that card. If it doesn't cause a price drop and the new generation is prices similarly or slightly higher, get the new gen card you like. If it doesn't cause a price drop and the new gen cards are much more expensive, get the previous gen card you were already eyeing. There will always be something better "right around the corner." So just try to get what you already want that suits your needs at the best price possible. If you have to wait like 1/3 to half a year though? Just get what you want now rather than spending all that time speculating.
>>103070791If you've still got access to the demo you should bench it with RivaTuner too see what component is holding you back. With what you have currently it could genuinely be any one of those mentioned.Ordinarily I would say to upgrade the card first, because that's the most likely bottleneck in mainstream games, but what's done is done. Bench it again with the new CPU and make a decision.FWIW, I do /think/ you'll need a new card since the 5600XT is pretty slow by modern standards but there's no sense buying shit randomly without testing. As for RAM, DDR4 is so cheap right now that you might as well upgrade while you're at it. Should be able to do it for like $30 if you sell your old kit.

>>103069549I have the non pro version I like it a lot was very easy to build in, the included fan header can only fit 5 fans. The single reverse blade fan on the psu shroud made it annoying to fit a gpu mount, I assume it's worse in the pro version with the extra fan there.
>>103072024>yeah except utilization isn't the issue, in the videoChecked various points & GPU was hitting 90-95% with the x3d & hovering 70-80% with the 7600Spiderman, last of us, cyberpunk, cod, etc.Yes, in some it's not bottlenecked (like hogwarts/wukong) but in others it clearly was
>>103072035I'm still using a sound card, old motherboard had a lot of EI, I've got a new one now but since I already had the sound card, why not use it
>>103065111How can I upgrade this system for less than 600€ in Europe (France) ? Gaming 1080p 144fps if possible but 60 is fine too and video/photo editing as well.
>>103072251Check used market for a 2nd hand GPU if you can, then I would personally recommend getting an aliexpress 5600, a cheap AM4 board & 16gb ddr4 (you'll feel the lack of 32gb most likely, but hey saving 30€ might make the difference between getting a better gpu or not). If you really want a new GPU, I think the best deal in europe is the 6800.https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005057753702.htmlhttps://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/wKKqqH
>>103072340Thank you!Is Aliexpress really trusthworthy for pc parts? I'm scared to buy that kind of thing on this website.
>>103070813are you a fucking beaver?be honest anonwhy is that wood all chewed updon't tell me they don't bother to sand this shit down and finish it before shipping.. this looks bad wtf
>>103072201the CPU and GPU equal utilization is not a bottleneck, the GPU at high usage and less usage of the CPU is a GPU bottleneck.
>>1030722515800X, B550 mobo, 32 GB DDR4, 1 TB NVME.RX 590 will be ok for 1080p gayming. But not for 144 fps.
>>103072340I can find a ryzen 5600 with cooler for €110 from european stores, I don't think €90 without a cooler is that sweet a deal, especially for something that is probably used.
>>103072405>RX 590 will be ok for 1080p gaymingI have some struggle in some games but I think it's because of my old RAM
>>103072365Aliexpress is as trustworthy as amazon third party sellers or ebay. It's just a marketplaceYou'll find plenty of fake CPUs on aliexpress, but that specific listing has 10k+ sales, 1800 reviews (including people posting pics proving it's an actual 5600), 4.9 stars, the store has been around for two years, has tons of sales & is selling a bunch of other cpus in high volume that people are also happy aboutBasically, if you're ever going to buy things of aliexpress, check how trustworthy the seller is & use that to determine if it's worth the risk. If it was like 5-10€ cheaper, I probably wouldn't risk the 0.1% chance you get fucked, but since it's like 40-50€ cheaper iirc it's absolutely worth it>>103072419it shows as 90€ for you? It shows a 72.5 shipped to france for me. Plus there's sales and shit going on so you can likely take off another like 10 bucks with coupon codesIf you need the cooler, yeah at that point it might be a better idea to just buy the 110€ one instead of 90€, but at the same time, for like an extra 10-20€ you could get the aliexpress one and an actually good cooler>>103072405you're retardedEven just a RX6600 is 50-60% better.>>103072395you're retarded, CPU usage will almost never go above 70-80% because devs can't into multithreading.Or are you now going to claim this 4090 isn't bottlenecked by a 5600I'm starting to wonder if you're intentionally trying to misinform people for fun

This is a nas build, can we make it cheaper: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2DFZxg
>>103072834Okay yeah, amazon is less trustworthy with all the return/resell scammers out there.
>a 1000 usd PC costs 1350 usd worth of currency in my euro shithole>am4 platform with a 4060 ti and only 16 gb of RAMI hurt myself today...
>>103072962Post it, lets upgrade it to am5 for free.
>>103072834I genuinely stopped buying anyone from third party sellers on amazon, it's an absolute nightmareIt seems like they don't really even ban peopleI've seen people with like 20-40% positive reviews, how the fuck are those people allowed to operate?
