I have a knockoff from ali, they're definitely not as good as the original, worse buttons and there's some kind of delay on the accelerometer, but they're serviceable and everything works, the IR aiming is the same, no idea if they work with the classic controllers as I don't have one. If you can get an original for really cheap I'd rather buy it but the knockoffs work.

Something you can do to make it feel more like the original is put the knock off board inside the real controller, you have to do some cutting inside the original controller but it's pretty easy, doesn't solve the issues I mentioned but the original plastic is higher quality and feels better to hold.

Buying from Taobao is absolute insanity. Almost none of the prices for higher-priced items are actually real.
As soon as you add something to the cart and make a purchase, the seller contacts you and you have to start negotiating. The price he starts from is always 50-100% more than advertised. You then have to "negotiate" and if you're unsatisfied, you have to claim a refund.

The R36S is a fine device. It has a good screen and can do up to PS1 very well and does Dreamcast and PSP relatively decently. N64 is iffy, but that's the going to be the case for all budget handhelds. The D-Pad is serviceable, but you're not going to be playing Fighting Games too well on it.
It doesn't come with Wifi either, so you have to get a dongle if you want that functionality.

Loading custom firmware is pretty easy, so you should be able to load a new version of ArkOS on there if you're tech savvy. I would recommend you get your own SD card. The ones that usually come with their aren't known to last long.
