It's usually Newegg or Microcenter offering CPU/Motherboard/Memory bundles, not that hard to comb through.
Amazon's bundle deals are inconsitently offered and in limited quantities.

Anyone do you know a program that can just fill dedicated vram for desired amount of megs?

I need this for testing perfomance of shared vram (trying timings vs clocks tests and ram overclock), so i need to fill dedicated/onboard gpu vram (high bandwith) to prevent gpu chip using it. And the tested games will use shared memory insted.

AMD ryzen APU youtube tests its a bit not what i need.

7900x is comparably priced to the 9900x, and I'd rather spend a little more for better performance. 7950x/9950x is more than I'd like to spend, but I could be swayed if I found a bundle inside my budget.

That's where I've been looking, I was hoping there were more places with bundles.
I worry that if I stare at the 9900x for too long, I'll upsell myself, and start buying things I don't need.

Looking at upgrading my storage on my build but debating between getting a hdd or another SSD. It's mostly for archival stuff but I prefer the reliability of an SSD over a hard drive.

Secondly with tariff's becoming a thing, would it be worthwhile to build a new computer or wait a while longer? From reading the previous thread it seems like some of the AMD CPUS are having issues and the 5000s series have just been announced.

Thinking about waiting another year or two to see a bigger improvement in specs.

Hello, I'm helping a friend with upgrading their PC and would appreciate some advice. It's been a while since I've shopped around, so I'm not familiar with what's good. Here's his rig's specs:
GPU: 1660 Super 6GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
RAM: 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR4
Monitor: 24" 1920x1080 144hz
He wants to be able to play games at 1080p on high/max settings. Checking around, I see that the RX 6750 XT is recommended often for this sort of use case - or the 3060 Ti or 3070 for the corresponding NVIDIA cards. Are there any cards you would recommend based on this use case? For the CPU, I'm thinking of the Ryzen 5 5600X. Would this do well with the aforementioned cards?
Budget is ~$1,000, based in the US and live near a Micro Center.

Unlocked 13/14th gen Intels were degrading (at stock settings) due to excessive voltage. There is a patch out but given the nature of degradation it's not clear it's been fully fixed. Also the 9800X3D is just faster in games if that's your use-case.
Anyway, feel free to take a chance on the i9 if you like. It's a strong performer and the degradation issue has cratered the price.
>>
>>103181924
>Why do people say I should buy 9800x3d instead of 14900k?
Because if you are one of the many unlucky people, your CPU will die, and Intel will not RMA you.
>14900k is cheaper
Because of these dying CPU issues, the MSRP of $590 has absolutely plummeted beyond any reasonable expectation for one year. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
>and has much faster speeds (6ghz) and more cores?
But if it were stable, it would be a great productivity CPU and a pretty good gaming CPU. However, let's be honest here. 90% of the people here are gamers first, and the X3D chips just fucking demolish intel.

>>103182055
The cheap TR fans are pretty bad yes. Thin and brittle. However, they do work and the price reflects the quality. Plus, case fans don't have a hard job to do so no need for advanced flow optimizations etc.
I suppose the actual issue is why you're considering them in the first place? Buy a case with enough, or nearly enough, stock fans and add 1 or 2 to fill out the front intake. Heavy diminishing returns after that.
If you want something with slightly better build, but still cheap, consider the Arctic P12. If you're a richfag just go Noctua/NB/BeQuiet.

My case only comes with 3 proprietary intake fans so I was looking for an alternative that would let me fill out the rest without paying over 200, I can fill up to 7 more fan slots. Reviewers keep saying these fans are good but idk anymore, they also make phantom spirit which is why I'm wondering.

You're supposed to combine it with Nvidia Reflex or AMD Antilag in the driver. The input lag is negated mostly while you still keep the visual smoothness. You're also supposed to pair it with a Freesync Premium monitor so Low Framerate Compensation kicks in.
>>
>>103183053
Reflex primarily focuses on reducing the CPU-bound portion of the render queue so you CANNOT PHYSICALLY in this cosmos get less latency than the native before frame gen so it would still be slower than say 70 fps native and you'll still have added additional time to the overall rendering process from the interpolated frames so more latency as a base.

CPU work -> GPU work (native frame) -> GPU work (generated frame) -> Display. Reflex still optimizes the CPU->GPU handoff for the native frame, but the generated frame adds extra processing time after the initial GPU work is done.

Ray tracing destroys the artistic intent of the designers that gave their ok for the assets and how scenes look. You'd need a game built up from start to finish at all levels of production with ray tracing for it to be coherent.

Now that I think about it I do sometimes see the max clock value in HWInfo reach about 25Mhz higher than what I set it to. Should I just relax the OC a bit or can this behaviour be disabled?

Nvidia? no, because they allow you to adjust every voltage point of the curve

AMD? yes, because they are lazy niggers and only give you an offset
>>
>>103183769
>Nvidia
forgot to say, if you crash with them its a skill issue/user error

and for AMD you're just fucked because you don't get granular controls
>>
>>103183753
you lower the power limit or lower the clocks. whichever is the limiting factor first.

What does the power limit have to do with crashing? If your PSU can handle the spikes you just leave it on max.

I changed my motherboard preset to

Is this good? I have no idea I'm just kind of going through different presets to gauge the performance vs temps.

>If there’s extra power available, a Boost Clock is enabled increasing clock speeds until the graphics card hits its predetermined Power Target.
the boost is determined by the power limit or clock rate.

9800x3D MSRP is $479, but last night and this morning there's a very shady seller on Amazon trying to sell them for $439.
I say shady because the seller page says it's "newly established", they have nothing else on their seller page other than the 9800x3D, no reviews, and their location is somewhere in China (but the address is entirely in Chinese letters, so IDK where)
So I can only assume it's a scam.
>>
>>103183810
it's 50-50 whether it's a scam, I'd say it's not worth the risk nor the extra wait time.

OCCT (set it to variable load, run for at least an hour). Ironically, if the undervolt is too much it might crash right after you finish the test.

Oh no the 50 people still employed at rtg got fired
Anyways
And I say that as a amd GPU fan the drivers are fucked had to reinstall ones from 4 months ago just for it to be stable maybe it's my old PSU but still wtf if it still happens on a new build I feel like RMA and getting a 5090 I think its definitely a driver issue but suddenly not being able to OC or uv UC in adrenaline makes me think it's power related

Ausfags any chance anyone's got a tip on a 9800x3d delivered for 800? Supposedly they come back in stock today (15th) otherwise it's a used 78x3d for 550

>>
>>103184093
It's not a scalper it's a retailer charging 100aud over msrp
The actual scalper is the one selling a 78x3d for 350usd used but that's my backup
>>
>>103184053
lol no
9800x3d already bottlenecks the 4090. A gpu that's 30-50% faster will be in bottleneck city until the 19800x3d launches
>>
>>103184062
It'll be a pretty big difference, the cable currently makes like a big U shape out of the grommet then immediately back to the board. I got angles for the USB headers already since I'm less worried about them melting or something but the ATX one looks kinda sus.
>>
>>103184097
its the early adopters' tax. I dont think this will go on for long since its not like crypto where every wannabe miner bought infinite amounts of gpu when they're in stock. Eventually, 9800x3d's supply will surpass demand and it will fall to msrp and even below msrp given enough time.
>>
>>103184094
Based on leaks it's 50% faster than a 4090 at the same price
AMD gpus are dead until udna rdna 4 is a flop
Rdna 5 probably as well we will have to wait until 2026 to find out which puts udna 6 at 2027 minimum
Next 3 years is gonna be bleak no competition from amd or Intel in gpus battlemage mia Intel also shitting the bed in every other way including CPUs and Nvidia competing against themselves for almost 5-10 years running in gpus
>>
>>103184100

zen6 should be the final generation for am5.
zen7 and a couple generations beyond will be on am6
>>
>>103184135
I'd give it 6 months. Definitely not worth waiting for if you have to spend on an interim cpu.
>>
>>103184142
So don't bother waiting for 6? I feel like a 79xtx will be about even with a 9800x3d/7800x3d

Seen prices here go up 100-200 for a 7800x3d new and used anyway would rather get a intrum CPU than get scalp
