Everything is already from China, but in here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.

1st rule of /csg/: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Has anyone here ever bought synthetic gemstones from china? They seem a lot more affordable than real stones while also being better looking than glass. I can't exactly make jewelry myself or at least I've never tried anything beyond making a bracelet with beads, but I have seen some rings made entirely out of synthetic opal which seems cool.

Yeah I did think about them being fragile and with the price of synthetic opal I'd rather not risk it. Thanks for the heads up.
With most of the other interesting options being for use in making your own jewelry, which I'm not going to do, I think I'll skip out on chinese synthetic gemstones then.

Help me with my stupid situation.
I have a floor sofa like the one in pic.
Sometimes I sit on it like in my drawing. I use a laptop stand, and place a portable monitor on top. Sometimes watch/play/use it as a second screen with my laptop.

The only issue is I use a 15.6 inch screen which isn't very good.
Do I get a 16 inch touchscreen off AliExpress, an 18.5 inch non touchscreen, or do I get something else entirely for this nonsensical setup?
Could I just get a proper non portable monitor and some sort of stand/holder/mount that would sit on the floor and tilt so the monitor faces me head on properly at eye level or does no such thing exist? It couldn't sit at the end of the sofa, it's too far away for this purpose, it'd have to sit alongside it and tilt in

I only get the free coins at the start of the year, takes a few seconds off your day for like a month or two. It has saved me around €3~5 total off the stuff I ordered this year which I estimate to have cost around €150. I'm not sure if the coins are applied if you don't use the app, but you can only collect them through the app. They're less useful than coupons and sales, but since it takes so little effort I think it's worth it.
I don't bother with the minigames or other free coins, since they take more time and you still only get a few cents off your orders with them.

My phone is at 170cm in landscape mode, not bad quality for $13. I marked the weakest part. Just don't use too much force. that is to escape most of the eu import bureaucracy, the niggas in those places are corrupt but legal enough to basically let every pass by for a very small fee (chang shipping company pays for it, its mostly chinks conducting the business on the import side as well so they are basically trading favors).
air packages go to where you mentioned, and shit sent by boat (like heavy machinery) usually goes to holland where the same deal happens.
now with temu its a bit different, they seem to have small cover shipping center companies spread all around so they basically ship to one of those shipping centers as a b2b chang deal and then from then on to you. cant quite understand what benefits this has to them, since this only shortens the wait time for the buyer, but whatever

>parcels go though Netherlands
>the niggas in those places are corrupt but legal
Makes sense. I heard that China leases pandas to zoos around the world as a favor for having a good relationship with China and iirc we have 3, so there's clearly a good relationship between out governments. As a regular consumer I still pay a 21% fee on stuff ordered from China, but I also know that we're somewhat of a tax haven for large corporations. So perhaps they use some of the laws relating to that to circumvent the import fees.
>>
>>103216456

I picked up a boar bristle shaving brush to give to my dad for Christmas. Will post a quick review when it comes in. Synthetic shaving brushes have really gotten amazing, my dad has been using a cheap synthetic shaving brush and he thinks it's actually boar hair. Back in his day synthetic brushes were basically made out of nylon fishing line so he has no concept of ones that looks realistic and don't feel awful on your face.

Netherlands are the marine gateway to Europe and Baltic states are rail connection to Russia. Surprise, you're only rail road to China is through Transsib.
There are simply no other ways freight can go from China to Europe. So if it's not air, it goes through one of those two.
>>
>>103217060
Oh, air goes through Russia too actually.
European airlines are banned from Russian airspace, but chink (and Ethiopian lol) ones are not. And since the direct route is cheaper it's meaningless for European cargo airlines to fly your chinkshit, they are simply out of business.
Funny enough, if Northern Sea Passage goes operational as Russia is planning, the same is going to happen to seaborne freight as well.
>>
>>103216696
The quick pros and cons of synthetics.
Pros
Durable, you can mash them on your face, sqeeze them, jam the brushes into the soap, whip really aggressively and they won't break.
They whip up a thick leather very quickly, it's basically brainless to make a thick yogurt consistency lather with them every time in just a few seconds.
They are more durable and will last for years and years unless the glue fails.
They are cheap, even the most premium synthetic hairs are quite cheap
Cons, they don't absorb water like badger hair does, they don't hold warmth as well
Lots of them have less backbone, the bristles aren't as stiff overall so they can feel kind of mushy.
Different synthetic brushes can feel and act very different since there are many different designs materials and making processes for them, when buying from chink vendors it can be hard to understand how the different synthetics will feel when used if they don't have good listing descriptions.
Here is one of their latest synthetic offerings if you want to try one.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807438021289.html?
Overall synthetics are improving very quickly, they are also used for makeup brushes which is a much larger industry and drives lots of the demand. Also there is much more consumer demand for synthetics not that they don't feel like rubbing fishing line on your face.
I haven't tried any yaqi synthetic brushes but they seem to review quite well.
>>
>>103217130
I previously used two boar and one cheap badger hair brush, I much prefer the yaqi synthetic. I was more so wondering if they have made any improvements with heat retention, which I probably should have mentioned previously. Considering you placed heat retention as one of the cons I assume they haven't been able to fix that yet?

>Considering you placed heat retention as one of the cons I assume they haven't been able to fix that yet?
Yeah i just think the lack of heat retention is inherent to synthetic brushes because they don't absorb any water into the bristles.
One thing you could try is getting a modern ceramic lather scuttle. Pic related
They have a lower chamber that you fill with hot as it will get tap water (not boiling as it will kill the lather) this keeps the lather bowl part warm during your shave.
You can find them on AliExpress and eBay

Nice, fiddling with micro orientation was my third most annoying issue with it.
Second was non-removable battery that lost capacity in a couple years.
But the worst part (for my use case) is very agressive power saving and very slow wake up. Might not be noticeable if it's your only pointing device, but with trackpoint keyboards I don't touch trackball for minutes at a time while writing long posts etc.
On the other hand, logitech are the only trackballs to implement have "safe" bluetooth connect/disconnect on android. Other brands do it the dumb way which forces current activity reload.

they do move inside china for a day or so after being marked as shipped nad before being sent by plane, but less than a day after boarding the plane it gets in europoorland. plane seems to take about 20 hours, so it might make another stop on the way since a direct flight is about 14 hours. or maybe they are trying to save on gas and going slower or some shit like that, dunno.

because I cant find ANY video of someone applying filters to blessing 2/3/dusks in image format, or video, or any reference to it at all... I am effectively going in blind and I don't want to have to ship from china.

hey anon, i purchased an 11.6 in. portable monitor from Ali for use with my home servers a couple of months ago.
it is overall okay for that exact purpose. It was $35.20 total, but is a bit washed out and not as bright as I would enjoy. It came with a small metal stand that angles it without adjustment, and is angled slightly upwards for someone looking down to it.
For just a side monitor, I think you could do worse, but reviews say that there are some dead pixels on a couple of them.

Do they employ monkeys as "Aliexpress representatives" these days?

I ordered some car trim clips, from a seller who ironically had the order fulfilled by Aliexpress directly, but instead received a fucking bracelet.

Rejected due to invalid evidence, so now I've filed a chargeback with the payment processor.

The inner diameter is 95mmx68mm, so they should be able to fit 2-1/2"x3-1/2" toploaders.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Postal_Union

>China uses the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to provide subsidized shipping rates to its businesses, which can give them a cost advantage over competitors. For example, >Chinese merchants can ship small packages to the United States at a lower cost than US merchants can ship domestically.
>China's shipping industry also receives support through a variety of other means, including:

>Direct subsidies
>Cash payments and rebates to offset costs, boost revenue, and aid struggling firms
>State financing
>Lending and leasing from state banks to domestic and international firms
>State fundraising
>Low-interest loans, debt forgiveness, and equity infusions from the government
>Indirect subsidies
>Support to adjacent industries, such as steel, oil, electricity, and real estate, which can reduce shipping and shipbuilding costs

long article but the 2nd section titled "Quantification of overall Chinese industrial subsidies" summarizes it with graphs to show the breakdown of these costs
>>
>>103228520
Why doesn't any other country "abuse" these postage subsidies? Are they just lazy n-?
>>
>>103228579
they can make profit because of the unique position they are in. the deal is very good for them but poor for most other countries

Well I'll be damned.

Placed an order for a 3rd tripod. Let's see if it'll ship this time. I kept ordering a nicer and nicer tripod every time the seller refused to ship.

Probably because only countries with an efficient logistic system and a strong manufacturing / exporting industry can abuse it.

It really depends on what you want to use it for.

I ordered this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003819205508.html

I plan to use this with a telescope or with a camera for long exposure photography. It does have female threads on the side of the base for you to attach accessories, such as a ring light, if it if you have an arm for it.

Also, Molle is useless until you're going to attach other molle campatible items to it. e.g. more pouches.
