IPS used to be the top tier when it came to viewing angles, now it's pure garbage
now imagine TN and VA
>>
>>109558321
Nvidia has 90% of the market which gives them preferential treatment from Microsoft, my biggest issue is windows forcing an old driver install when I already installed the latest version and fucking everything up. It's been a problem lately and it honestly makes me want to switch to Linux, of I weren't so lazy I'd already have switched but a few more months of this shit and I'll pick up whatever retard proof distro there is and switch over.
>>
>>109558437

good to know
>>
>>109558444
He's right, based on your post your friend is a normie and won't be able to replace/fix any issues he could run into with an old PC.
>>
>>109557367
I used cable matters ones in the past.
I would try to use the native cables on your PSU if you can.
I personally did get a custom modular cable made from MODDIY for my PSU. It really is 11 sata on a single strand that is quite long and there has been zero issues from the 3TB HGST HDDs to my surprise. The HDDs are rated for 0.8 amps from the 5v rail so can pull some but have been fine.
>>
>>109558444
it's healthy to be afraid of anything that's been touched by other p*ople
that said, used is a good idea in my opinion if the amount of money you save is enough to account for one or two parts needing to be replaced because there were hidden problems AND you know you have the patience to do some troubleshooting
>>
>>109558452
IPS has stagnated in progress completely while VA has caught up so now they're both equally as bad in viewing angles.
>>
>>109558444
He likely saw on Reddit that someone bought a used PC and then a day later it's in a bsod loop. Normies don't know how to fix this shit and start getting mad they spent possibly a grand or more on a brick.
>>
>>109558469
that IPS reminds me of when I looked at TNs before and when you switch angles certain parts of the image just completely dark out and you lose all ability to see anything, actual pure garbage
now we have the oled humiliation ritual instead
>>
>>109558453
Windows has no prefer treatment for Nvidia. It is DirectX vendor neutral. 26H1 for instance is not even supported on Nvidia.
>>

oled is fine if you buy one of the cheaper models for around $400 during a good sale and then simply replace it after 4 years if it's full on degraded at that point, then just repeat that process. and if it gets burn in or dies within the 3 year warranty then rma it.
>>
I'm thinking about upgrading my poor old 2060 to probably 5060, maybe 5060 Ti 8GB (it's on discount), but it really makes me feel like I should also upgrade my old B450 motherboard to ones that support PCIe 4.0, thankfully I'm stuck on AM4 chipset (7 5700X3D) otherwise I would also had to fight urge of upgrading RAM to DDR5.

By the way is 9060 XT 16GB worth it?
As far as I remember it's definitely weaker.
>>
so lets say ram comes down by 50% after the crisis ends in 2-3 years
is saving a few hundred of dollars going to be worth waiting all that time?
>>
>tfw boughted everything in April 2025
I am good for now
Are there any good deals to be had currently on secondary stuff that is affected by low demand due to no one buying CPUs, RAM, GPUs, etc.
Like how is the state of the monitor market or peripheral market at the moment? Cases, fans, etc.?
>>
>>109558534

This can happen at any time. There a million things that could disrupt the supply. Hell imagine if China attacks Taiwan, you won't be able to afford anything for a decade, and that could theoretically happen any day.
>>
>>109558763
Other peripherals don't require the same high end fabs, not likely to be an issue. Monitors if anything will probably see downward price pressure due to lowered demand.

>>109558796
Anything involving China-Taiwan won't happen until next year at the earliest, and it will be predicated by a military buildup that will be impossible to hide for weeks if not months in advance.
>>
>>109558566
Depends on the games you want to play. In the US, the 5060 Ti is the better option against the base 5060 because it's only a little bit more expensive but a lot faster. The 9600 XT is in between the 5060 and 5060 Ti in raw performance, but it's missing good support for features that made the 2060 usable for so long. There are workarounds, but it's hard to recommend an AMD card for those reasons. The 9600 XT 16 GB has more memory, which will be useful. I would say esports/PC focused games, 5060 Ti; console ports, 9600 XT 16 GB
>>
>>109558816
>Reports of military buildup are reliably proven
>Sellers immediately jack up prices because they know supply is gonna get destroyed.
Price increases will happen when an invasion becomes inevitable, not when it actually happens.
>>
>>109558763
I don't think much besides the chips themselves (logic, memory) will be supply constrained. But that's not letting up until projects like Musk's Terafab come online

Friendly reminder to warn all the old people in your life that Google search's ai is very low quality as of today Aug 14, 2026. This is the first time in a long time that quality of search is a reason to recommend avoiding Google.

tldr you gotta use an app. Gemini Flash is smart, thankfully. idk if they offer free gemini flash, but totally avoid search. It's basically super bad now. very bad.

qwen3, which is what Brave Search uses is much more intelligent, but Brave has rugpulled quality of their search ai before, and they could do it again.

1) what's a decent usb controller? my case came with two usb-3 connectors (+ another for a usb-c port) but my motherboard only has one of each type so i need to get a pcie card for the other usb 3 connector. friend says the vl805 is fine as far as controllers go and to stay away from renesas ones, just wondering if there are better ones without needing to spend 100-200+ bucks. won't be doing VR shit on those ports but they'll most likely both be used for data transfer. i saw a card with an 805 that also has a slot for sata power, what's that about?
2) got a 9950X, should i upgrade to the X3D2 if it ever goes on sale or should i just say fuck it and only upgrade when zen 7 comes around? my build is technically 3 and a half years old (originally it had a 7950X) but due to very unfortunate circumstances i'll only get to use it now

You can get an adapter since both the front usb connectors on your mobo have the exact same pins. It's not like one connector has a higher speed than the other (it also depends on your mobo specs, the best speeds are gen 2x2 20Gbps and if your case usb connect can handle the extra speed, and if your storage device can handle the speed).
Also the usbc port on the back of the mobo is usually the fastest for data transfer, since you can have usb4 which is impossible for front panel connectors ATM, at least as far as I know (the recent intel mobo's have thunderbolt, which share most features with usb4).
>upgrade
no it's not worth it. but no such thing as a bad product, only a bad price. by the way the IRS has basically declared that the depreciation of datacenter GPU's have gone from 4 years to 8 years. So, people should wait 8 years before upgrading becomes a good idea. There is a chance that your CPU will still be just as good as CPU's in 8 years, since technically there are CPU's that are 10 years old that can run cyberpunk at 60fps. Buy a CPU now and it will hit 120fps.
>>
>>109561044
>get an adapter
thought about it and i even bought one buuut i'd rather not use it since i'll probably use all 4 ports at once (it's 4 usb-a ports split into 2 connectors and 1 usb-c one with its own connector)

As I've said before corsair ram is an exercise in dumpster diving for mystery meat, one kit of the same SKU number could have micron chips, another have Samsung, another SK hynix etc, you never know as they just use whatever they have on hand that day and sell it as whatever model SKU they can match the speed and timings of. Only way to tell is to remove the heat spreader and look at the chips.
I would change the ram but first if you have another board that you can check the ram is bad with I would do that first. I've found RAM rather fiddly and even ones on the QVL can have trouble posting

I would stick to a hynix A-die for ryzen something like
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/H9CZxr/teamgroup-t-create-expert-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-ctced532g6000hc30dc01

And https://pcpartpicker.com/product/q7LdnQ/kingston-fury-beast-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-kf560c30bbek2-32

Both run cool and have good heatspreaders, and are on the QVL of most MSI boards if you're an rgbfag then there's an rgb version of beast or theres teamgroup t-force

If you really care about ram speeds get a 2 dimmer board like an MSI B850m power, a gigabyte b850m force (cheap) or a gigabyte tachyon (expensive). Though not 2 dimm boards any of the MSI tomahawk boards are very good for the price and come in both matx and atx. Asrock have good features for the price but idk maybe the CPU will die.

Also the board and ram could both be dead, amazon accept returns and never check if its actually fucked or not so can often ship out those dead components as new to other buyers.

technically you can get a usb hub, and why not get a usb4 hub since it's better, but not all usb4 hubs support gen2x2's full 20Gbps, so it may fallback to 10Gbps.
Also you probably won't afford this and it's unrelated, but this is neat (before this, there was a chinese DIY thing last year where you need to print the PCB and get the chipset (probably from a dead mobo).
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/chipsets/amd-b650-expansion-cards-hit-retail-starting-at-usd199-add-four-m-2-pcie-4-0-slots-and-11-usb-ports-to-any-pc-with-a-pcie-slot
Unfortunately you only get a single 20Gbps usb port, not great, but the m.2 slots are interesting (but if you fill all 4 slots you only get half the max speed of the gen4 nvme).

With amazon basically they will accept any return for almost any reason but its staffed by underpaid wagies who either don't know about hardware or don't care so your broken part will usually not get tested and just go back to the warehouse and they'll just put it back on the shelf it came from unless its obviously snapped in half or something or replaced with a bag of sand.

I've had new motherboards that were clearly used with TIM smeared all over it one had an ssd with a clearly used windows install on it, but it was only the wifi card that was broken so i kept the drive and board, replaced the WiFi card. Worst is I've recently had a 28tb HDD that was $1000 that showed up in device manager as a 1tb drive, and someone had clearly swapped the sticker on it, they probably bought a 28tb one, swapped the sticker from a 1tb drive and returned that for a nice refund.

Stick with fulfilled by amazon though so you can be sure you'll at least be able to return it. I don't like buying hardware on amazon anymore, there's way more return scams happening since the price increases. And local stores will often be more willing to help you solve the problem if you have hardware issues or help you with warranty battles (such as with Asus)

Looking at these header splitters gives me a headache
This seems like its just going to fry your motherboard when you plug two things in

Whatever proper USB card with a 3.0 header is probably fine, you can also get versions that plug into an m.2 slot if you want

Another way would be to get an adapter to convert from a usb 2.0 header to 3.0, and you would just have 2 ports that run at 2.0 speed, but at least it wouldn't take a pcie slot

Kingston good but pricey, easy to find out online what die you're getting
Teamgroup good and cheap, not always easy to find what die though, but I've never had an issue with thier kits
Gskill good and you can buy specifically binned sticks too for the high end models, easy to find out what die you're getting but heatsinks are garbage and they don't put thermal pads on the PMIC
Corsair is shitty mystery meat avoid.

You can find the die sometimes from motherboard QVLs or on reviews or OC forums. If your boards QVL doesnt have the die info the asrock QVL lists do, just check one for a random ddr5 motherboard of theirs until you find one with the memory model that you're interested in buying.

Whatever you can get, as long as the heat spreader is good and you can find out what die it is (SK hynix a or m die) and it has a lifetime warranty its probably decent. As long as its not corsair the brand doesn't matter too much. lower voltage kits also help keep heat down. Avoid Samsung for ddr5 I've never had one that worked at EXPO/XMP speeds, that's if it even managed to boot at all. I reckon your corsair ram used Samsung chips.

the cheapest upgrade is a used 1660 super / TI, easy 2x FPS improvement with 6gb. don't pay more than $100 (I got it for $100 CAD on facebook marketplace like 3 years ago, but it might have went up). But this thing will not handle 1440p, more like 1080p PLUS aggressive upscaling/steamdeck graphics.
anything better you probably should upgrade your CPU if you haven't already (if it's AM4 it's probably salvageable).
5060 TI / 9060 XT is decent for $350~, if you are on a budget and your PSU can handle it (but this is still in laptop tier).
The 5070 12gb and 9070 XT 16gb are for the newest games and future proofing a tiny bit. Like $600.
The 9070 is significantly better than the 5070 12gb (the 5070 TI 16gb is a fair comparison to a 9070 but much more expensive).

you should try looking at facebook marketplace, you don't need to pay taxes as well, and the 1660 ti/super is a GPU that is already pretty cheap on ebay (at least last time I checked), which means it should be cheaper on facebook marketplace.
And yes, the 1080 TI is a good buy as well if you find it.
The 2060 super has 8gb of ram, maybe you can get lucky with $120 AUS or something (the 2060 6gb NON SUPER is identical to the 1660 TI/super, but you might find it for $100 AUS).
The 2060 super has DLSS and raytracing (the newest doom release was raytracing only). But the 1660 ti/super still has fsr/xess upscaling, and the AI power just isn't enough to get massive FPS improvements that you normally see with DLSS on the 5060 TI/9060 (I am not talking about frame gen).
It should also be noted that the 1660 / 2060 is going to stop getting "game ready driver updates" I don't actually know if this has ever mattered, and the 1660 / 2060 will still get security updates but only once a year for like a decade or something.
There will be a 9050 GPU that's going to release with 8gb, it's not looking good though, the 5050 is a terrible GPU, and the 9050 might copy it's price, or not.
And you DO need a new cpu for the 5060 TI/9060, but I don't think you don't need a new mobo, but maybe you do (I did not check compatibility).

If you have money you can just buy a 5060 TI / 9060 and not think about it.
the 1660 super / TI is good because it's cheap and not many people want it, the person giving you the GPU isn't making a living buying GPU's and upcharging it (ideally, you should check their profile), the person bought a new GPU and they are giving you the old GPU, they checked ebay / prices, and sometimes they price it lower, maybe you can ask for 20% off, maybe they will give it to you.
If you looked at used "decent" gpu's, those GPU's are still expensive, like a 3070 is $400 AUS, but a 5060 TI is $500 AUS, a 5060 TI is stronger + new not stinky + return policy + 3 year warranty, it's stupid that they even think it's OK to sell at that price (BUT I CANT CHECK SOLD PRICES since I don't have an account, $300 3070 isn't even that good either, it's just risky).

man, where were you guys to warn me about corsair 4-5 weeks ago lol,
So just to make sure, and I hope you bear with me a little more,WoT incoming
my system does not boot at all, black screen,
both cpu and dram leds light up on the mobo,
all fans move, gpu fans dont but I assume since it not being used at all, or at leats I did not notice them moving
responds to the case button to change rgb colors, all rgb work, even the ram sticks
cpu already went back for revision, I initially assumed this was the issue since the sytem did nothing, even anons here agreed, apparently it works, and its already back so here I am
updated the BIOS,using the flashback button, took several minutes, and all, but it just stays with the leds on even after 20 mins
cmos reset etc
AIO works, I can feel it
moved ram, only one stick etc, even tried A1 and b1 channel
already disassembled and assembled like 4 times, to make sure its properly seated on the case and not touching anything over the course of all this
after cpu came back I tried again today using only one CPU power cable, was using both cpu pwr1 and cpu pwr2 and found a post that this could cause memory training issues the other day on AM5 and ddr5 boards, so I thought I finally found the reason, nope

after all this and finding out finally that the RAM is not on the MOBO QVL, can I safely assume that just changing the ram will fix all my problems?
I would rather just not take everything apart, again but dunno if there's a chance by now that the mobo is damaged, I doubt it considering even the pins look good, and everything now points to the fact that the ram is not compatible and not on the list, also corsair

AND one final question, my best option at the same price, give or take some bucks are
>Kingston 5200 cl40
these 2 are available
KF552C40BBK2-32
KF552C40BBAK2-32
rgb is cheaper for some reason, but they seem to be the same, this should be fine right? both appear on the MOBO QVL

Use this

They are the same except one with the extra a in the model number has rgb. Should avoid rgb, it increases the electrical load, traps heat and is another part that adds complexity and possible issues. Computer parts are already complex enough, there were never this many weird unexplainable issues 10-15 years ago.

A motherboard with a seven segment debug display would give you more information, every board used to have them but manufacturers are Jews and only put them on the high end ones. Half the issue posts in this thread wouldn't exist if that was still the case.

Guys I need your opinion. My PC is near 10 years old and it's dying, considering sick part prices I thought it's over and time to walk away, then I started looking for used builds and found something like that https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RsgBTm Aio and power supply is by "Redragon" never heard about them might swap power supply to be safe, aio if loud that's always a option. Rig like that brand new goes for $3400 in my country, they sell it for $1990 used with 14 days return no question asked policy. Is there a catch? Are some parts shitty? Well if I have 14 days I might test it really well and see for myself but it's there something I don't see? Worth buying?

Bought a 9070 XT Nitro and trying to undervolt it. Did I lose the silicon lottery, or is it expected?

If I do +10% PL, I can't reduce the voltage at all, not even by -10mv.

If I do -10% PL, the most I can reduce the voltage is by -30mv.

This has been tested by actually playing games for several days now. I see some people online being able to do -100mv or similar on their cards, but I figure this is probably only stable for them on Steel Nomad or something...

Accelerated Compute. In order to have total control, surveilance whatever fucked thing they want they need to be able to hand massive amount of data. For that they need data centers so they needed something that will convince the normal population that data centers will improve their life in their future. This is a cart before the horse scenario where people are tasked to find something useful to do with the compute rather than building compute we need to do something useful. So far the only thing they found it had some impact in ROI aits programming, data parsing, and act as a super power web searching engine / clippy assistant for power point presentation

You'll probably have to figure out a way to cap the maximum boost frequency, 2900 MHz should be the near the performance & efficiency sweet spot.
The GPU will always try to boost as high as possible without a limiter, and its exponentially power inefficient.
Find the most aggressive negative offset you can set at 2.9 or 3.0 GHz maximum GPU clock speed without crashing in any games.

Set a maximum boost cap first, whichever app you use.
Your undervolt is keeping the GPU cooler, so it's trying to boost to higher clock speeds compared to stock voltage.
Ex. your card has the thermal & power headroom to boost above 3.15GHz, but the undervolt is causing instabilities.

Your card should be able to run 3GHz at 975mV or under if you didn't get a dud bin.

for what purpose does a $80 GT730 exist? it won't even hardware decode modern videos.

That card is 12 years old, of course it won't have current gen capabilities. My question is for why a CURRENT GEN card has these specs

best computer for a cow's grandmother?

There's a market for a piece of junk like that for $80, therefore there's a market for something that will at least support decoding modern videos up to, say, ~$150. Life's a bitch. Besides, this takes care of the dud DDR5 dies.

does $1900 to build a PC around an RTX 5070 sound about right?
(already have monitors, peripherals, and SSD storage, need to buy everything else)

>without cool futuristic cars
There will be futuristic cars for respectable wealthy citizens, not for plebs like (You).
>neons
Already there and gonna be more.
>cybernetics
If you mean implants then they're going to be rare and expensive, as they are according to Cyberpunk lore. If you mean the rest then we're already heading there full speed: electronic IDs, facial recognition, self-driving cars, drone delivery, powerful pocket computers. Corporations that can do whatever they want and get away with it, make you their bitch and rival governments in power. Goverments that can find you in minutes if you do something wrong and kick your ass with AI-trained robots and drones. Back alley resellers and tinkerers that crack and remove tracking, flash freedom ROM on corpo hardware and raid junkyards trying to build something useful.

>steering wheels
That's either for poor people or for richfags that want to feel how it was in le good old times.
>car windows
In game there are cars without windows, but they're for the 1%ers. Glass windows are for the unworthy rest.

Not too far off.
You might be able to save a bit by dropping down to DDR4 / non-X3D.

I don't want retarded gay future where poors live in poors district and wealthy fags live in wealthy fags district and nothing ever happens, we had that for past 200 years. I want future where psychotic chromed the fuck up junkie breaks in the good neighbourhood and slashes entire families then gets rekt by some other psychotic retards who are then killed by police fags who are then killed by some gang members who raid them.
