It was clear Tree was trying to keep the project in line. He would bring up the 3.6b and try to secure multiple avenues of compute for the project regardless of how doomed it was. Cascade really was such a tease. Despite the glaring shitty issues with it, I really liked the rendering. If the awful hand/eye/detail issues could've been solved, I'd say it'd be a great 1girl-stander model. People are right about 1b being a dead-end and never actually amounting to anything usable, but I do think 16 epochs later that the artists at least are 'locking in' to the point where I can't really look at XL loras and act like they're remotely in the same league. Such a shame that there really is no moving past SDXL/4ch vae any time soon. Whether 3.6b would've fixed the issues I don't think will ever wind up being answered. It was a joke-worthy run, but ultimately I wished the project would've succeeded. The non-profit system would've allowed them to tackle non-commercial models like Flux that astralite trembles at. The "it all goes in" approach was nice in theory when every other baker was spouting about how ethical their datasets were. Sad that it's ending this way.
