How to not be a /beg/ at social media?

NTA, but you count the heads from top of the head to the chin, not to the bottom of the neck, like you did. You actually have 7 heads of proportion, same as Loomis. But your midpoint is way off, so you legs are way too long and the torso is way too small, if you want to follow those proportions.
>>

>>
>>7393706
Of course it is. There is less detail to hide your mistakes. Anon in the other thread glazing copying is a dumbass, just ignore him. You really do need a decent amount of technical prerequisite to get anything out of it. You want to get yourself out of perfunctory shape drawing, not box yourself into it.
>>
>>>7392636
I have done almost nothing but master studies and figure drawing all of that time though

my consistency is pretty shit however
I tend to see the best peaks when I do a lot of work in a shorter period of time and observe a lot of drawings frequently. it tends to go down if I stretch it out too much. this is a very ungrateful kind of craft.
>>
>>7393706

I don't understand what I should do next. I outlined the shadow and light map, added a mid tone, added a darkest dark in occlusion areas, added reflected light. Until this moment, I kind of understand what to do, but I don’t understand what to do after
What to do now? Just use a blur brush, soften the transitions and add even more midtones?

it is impossible to memorize images like coordinates like that

you can however recall angles and features on simple shapes you understand and have memorized using fundies

Right now, your pose reads as a completely straight line which isn't very interesting or dynamic. When drawing from reference, it is perfectly okay to exaggerate the reference.

You should be working on trying to read the line of action and gesture. Try reading some books for animation, the FORCE book, and watch some YouTube videos.

Your drawing is already less dynamic than the reference. You're missing the slight right lean of the entire pose, the tilt of the head to one side, and the pinch on the left. Of course, you're free to change a reference pose to what you wish, but I feel like when the result of the changes is less interesting than the original reference, I think there's a problem.

If I were to take this reference and draw something with it, I would probably swap the pinch and stretch sides and exaggerate it. I think that works better for your drawing since the character is putting her arms out to the right already.

I've used himukai works as a ref for the colors actually. Imo one of the worst bit of my drawing is the way i put the shadow on the back leg. How do you think the shadow should be done there? Looking at himukai drawing theres always some big stuff separating the shadowed leg to the rest of the body (like a skirt) but thats not the case in my drawing.

I know its just a bit of poop in a sea of shit but ive already encountered this problem before and its kinda annoying. Here is a redo.
>>
>>7394304
you're still kinda afraid of the dark
look how he drops parts of shields, full body parts and items into shadow, depending on the light setup he chooses
you're doing that but only partially, forgetting parts that should have both light and shadow (the glove, the shield)
also study how he handles materials, look at the difference between your sword and his
I'd recommend putting that drawing to rest and doing some copies first

The crosshatching you did here is not really consistent.

https://www.craftsy.com/post/hatching-and-cross-hatching

https://globalcomix.com/news/details/277/creator-tips-and-tricks-12-hatching-and-cross-hatching

The most appealing form is contour crosshatching, in my opinion, but you need more for armor alone. You can switch it up, in pic rel I did a few different types to illustrate it.
Also I figured his elbow and forearm part was fabric, but I might be wrong, if it's also metal disregard what I did there.

Add some light on the armor from the purple flame.

Fixed the head and eyes a little
Idk what the thing on his chest is supposed to be so I couldn't really do much with it

>The most appealing form is contour crosshatching
Then you got someone like pic related who just says "fuck the contour".

To get better at crosshatching: The book "Rendering in pen and ink" is a good starter, but look how artists you like do it, and look at what people who are known for their rendering do it.
>>
>>7394363
Hatching like this is very good if you know how to apply it, and sadly many people do not. This artist is very skilled at hatching.

Her torso actually matches the proportion of the leg in the background. The front leg is too short. Shortening both legs would mean the torso and arms would have to shorten to maintain proportion.

new to digital, how to draw a gradient? i can do flat shading but i cant figure out how to do a proper gradient for "realistic" shading, i want to utilise it for coloring the clothes and their folds. i'm using the airbrush pressure in krita. maybe it's a brush issue or my pressure control issue, but i really have no idea, i'm getting overwhelmed with how digital art works.
>>
>>7394968
Lots of different ways to do it, try these methods and see which one you like. These are done in Photoshop but Krita has similar tools. If you're having issues with pressure control you can lower the Flow setting so it's easier to control.

Do that one exercise from drawing on the right side of the brain where you set a timer for like 10 minutes and draw the creases on your hand without looking at the drawing, usually my go to every few months if I have simian mind.

Makes your brain go apeshit and want to stop or speed up but you just keep drawing those little lines slowly like you're tracing the path in your mind and the voices will quiet down and you'll slow down and focus harder on each line.

He's got some gesture practice on NMA's youtube if you want to draw along him. Ngl, those videos helped me more than any other on gesture lol

>Do my gestures at least look ok?
On the top one: you're too focused on the face construction and hair, keep it simple, connect it to the body, don't do the cross contour thingy until the contour gesture reads well.

On the bottom on: Don't do clothed figures on your first gestures. They will just confuse you. That said, the cloth is better than your gesture.

That's understandable. Vilppu has said in his demonstrations that clothes can help because they naturally create contouring on the body, which I do find very helpful, though I do tend to skip overly clothed figures, like the ones in robes.

While I really disagree with this, I meant to focus on the gesture itself, not the form, and draw those cross contours after you got most of the gesture in place.
To go further, the cross contours Vilppu draws are just a quick and intuitive way to "feel the form". No rules, anon, just tools. Not saying you should stop drawing them, just don't go saying they are necessary.

Vis Dev is responsible for creating the overall style, it's like a director-lite role. Concept artists, design the production assets within that style.

My beef with it is that he is unapologetic copyfag. Copyfagy is a staple of academic art, but I guess I'm an impressionist or something and have little appreciation of it. Some could say it is just a springboard to start looking at things differently, but the moment you want to draw your own chibi bunny you have to throw away 100% of his teaching. I guess. Not sure, maybe I'm just having an off day, but everything I draw looks substantially crappier. Need to put in more time again if my knowledge really increased, I guess.

Most of these are referenced. I did a lot today, but I'm having trouble drawing for the sake of it, which is why I'm using random references on quickposes, but nothing feels good to draw.

These are excellent. They bring me back to watching Boomerang back when it was good; makes me smile.

Drawing one Makima every day for the month of December to see how much I can improve
Day 08: Tried to use one reference and just copy, but I don't like how she came out. I feel like trying to draw bigger makes me end up making her ugly and she came out with a giraffe neck, but I couldn't figure out how to match the reference without it.

Day 2 of owning a drawing tablet and drawing with it, I made this for my friend. I hate it, can I please get critique?

for context I don't want to paint/color anything until I'm actually good at line art but because I was making something for a friend I had to atleast try to color it.

Make a trace on the side and see for yourself why you didn't match the reference.

Shapes need to overlap to create depth. Focus on that.

Never post anything "official" or too public as a /beg/. It will become embarrassing as you get better. I stumbled across some rule 34 smut that I had drawn years ago and now I wish I could redo or delete the pictures from the internet.

y her reaction was wholesome and made me happy and i wanted to share it
>>

It's your choice but I'm just warning you that you will probably become more self-critical as you become better and the validation from who people who can't even draw is pretty fleeting. At least for me.
>>
>>7396427

aren't most people making art for people who can't draw? lol

Normies will be impressed by anything. That applies to almost any hobby or sport. The goal should be to improve and have fun.

You can't rotate your head more than 90 degrees (meaning you can't look behind, but only towards your either of your shoulders if you get what I mean). Try rotating her torso as well.
