Case in point: if you want an overview of epistemiology in the western tradtion you're going to be dealing with the ideas and vocabular of the Greeks, the Romans, the Germans the French, the Italians, the Jews, etc. whereas I don't know what that same sort of overview would mean in Japanese - is it obtuse and esoteric and demanding, or does the fact that pretty much all of it is either cribbed from the Chinese or home-grown mean that it's easier to get into relatively speaking?
