Is it even possible to train up weak pets to be useful?
She'll be your mother and your wife~
>>48655670You could raise their babies and give them some skills with genes. Though if they don't have any innate good perks it seems pretty pointless.
is having more domains good? how does having tons of favorited spells work for spellcasting AI in combat? what about ball, bolt, arrow, etc variety and element/domains? does it pick the most practical one?
>>48655696AI doesn't care about domains lol, or even spell levels I think. You control what it uses by either making it only use abilities from hotbar or only favorited spells.
>>48655696Autocombat AI has some basic intelligence. Assuming you have all your spells enabled, it'll only use touches or arrows on single targets, bolts on enemies in a line, and balls for multiple enemies around you. It'll also pick the most appropriate element for its target, so you don't waste turns casting ice arrow on an ice hound.Buffs and debuffs only get cast when the you/enemy doesn't already have them.Npcs also use autocombat routines for their behaviour. It's robust enough that if you set it up right you won't need to fight manually 99% of the time for trash mobs.
>>48655852Addendum to the above: it's also capable of bending the rules a little when the result would be better, like spamming lightning bolt on a wet ele scarred big daddy despite it being a single target.
>>48655696>is having more domains good?Generally yes. The only drawback is that you might not get spells of your preferred element in the very early game when you're relying on Dream Waker for stock, but that stops being a problem the moment you have the money and means to travel around buying spellbooks. The casting AI is actually pretty good. I trust it enough to be comfortable using auto against high-health bosses: its choices aren't always optimal, but it knows to reapply buffs/debuffs and blast the enemy with your highest damage option. The drawback is that it doesn't really care for your mana and will burn through it faster than I'd like.
where do i check what heirlooms are counted towards my ranking?
>endgame is either sinking an INSANE amount of investment in shops so they have crazy high level monster balls OR sinking an INSANE amount of grinding into magic device and using rods of wish to get the same thing because Void monsters outscale you so hard it's not even funnyIt's all so tiresome
>>48655959hey speaking of investing. I couldn't be fucked walking to town so I invested in the tinker camp mage. Is he eventually gonna have less-shitty stuff?
Does "learning" ability increase how fast i learn everything? Is this best ability in game for new player?
>>48656022It just affects your mana pool.
>>48656034What would best character/ability for someone who is learning the game be in this case?Is Fast Learner perk good?
>>48655949home board's summary, "top" tab, mouse over the scale icon in the upper-right
>>48656051Succubus farmerBulldozes through early game faster than any other combo
>>48656078Thank you very much
>>48656051demigod executioner, focus on throwing (don't even melee, just throw)make a boomerang early on, collect the free panties in the graveyard when you feel up to travelingif you like, your goal could be to collect every god weapon to try out all the different options and see which you prefer
>>48656051You can go for basically any combination of (non-Extra) race/class and be fine. Your first character will probably kinda suck, but once you learn the game your second character will grow way faster. I played like ~6 hours on my first character, then made a second one and got to the same point in about 2 hours just by having a better understanding of the game. The third one was even faster.
How can I train Loytel to be a killing machine?
>>48656051Snail Tourist
>>48630343>yeek archer looks like he's holding the ramen bowlscuuuuuuuuute
>>48655959>Infinite scaling>Monsters eventually outscale your progression rateThis is my surprised face. It was this way too in vanilla and omake, you went deeper until you finally got outscaled or got bored. Plus avoided this because it had a level 6666 cap on monsters so eventually the scaling stopped.
What do Elin babies inherit anyway - skills, limbs, feats? Or are they just a copy of the base version with higher potentials?
New-ish (Had a hundred hours in Elona+ or so) player here. Playing Elin right now, and it really feels like it keeps pushing me into the basebuilding and crafting autism. I had the impression that this stuff was just a leftover from the DF clone days and engaging with it was optional, not as central as it appears to me now. How viable and comfortable is ignoring this shit and staying a murderhobo?
>>48656866You can murder hobo all you want. Just get a tent and store your key shit in it. But having a town definitely has it's advantages. If you hate town building just start very small. After the initial base cleanup and resource getting, make a log cabin, a small plot of farm and some water. Then voila ignore that shit til the end of days.
My Horome temple/tourist trap is finally done enough I think, the final boss that is townbuilding is defeated. I'm free.It seems you can hide stuff in moongates, I guess a lot of people just don't hide their stuff. Unique NPCs don't seem to appear, aside from the unique mages guild apprentices for whatever reason. My hosted party member that doesn't live in the town seems to have been pulled into the moongate as well, he's been an incredible asset though so I'll leave him, highly recommend a Knight piece to anyone using fire/ice/lightning
>>48656866You can feel free to treat it like the cave or any other home in Elona. You need a place to put your crafting tables and store shit, you can just put stuff down in the open and that's that.Otherwise, you're free to do whatever you want. Nothing's forced on you that wasn't also forced in Elona.
>>48656866The base building stuff is fairly central. It's not like you can't ignore it, but you'll be at a disadvantage; at this point it's more central to the game than the actual dungeon crawling.
>>48656866You can't totally ignore it, but nobody is forcing you to make a nice looking base or to build something tourism related. You could just make a giant box out of grass walls and place stuff in it as you see fit, no need to make it fancy. The base part has I'd say 5 main functions for you:1-Supplementing your income (through fishing at the start and all crafting skills later on, and farming)2-Being able to tailor what food you make and consume, and making the best food (farming+cooking). Vendors won't have that or anything close to that. This can be a long term goal as it's related to leveling cooking and farming, but it can be power leveled quite easily.3-Duping spellbooks and special foods you made (this requires advancing in the story and money, no need to build the base well).4-Easily way level lockpicking+stealth+pickpocket (pickpocket is especially painful at the start, not really sure what noa intended as a legitimate way to level it without raping your karma)..5-Later on, creating a teleport network to move around the map faster (you'll need generators or some way to generate electricity for this though). If you don't mind time passing you can ignore this.If you want to nefia dive what you really want is a mage in your base (to identify), and to get a tent (paper it if you can) + stealing a futon or a hammock to rest in it. The best blackmarket vendors are from the thieves and merchant guilds at rank 4 from what I've seen, so no need to focus on having one.
Why Ehekatl doesn't give me the bow, even if my faith is 30 already (got the cat too)?
>>48658068Because her artifact is a dagger?
>>48658108Fuck that's Lulwy, yeah I mean dagger, sorry. Do I forget to pick it?
>>48658114You have to manually pray for it to appear. You may also have enough faith but not enough piety. Then there's a chance you've got it stashed in some storage box or pet. CTRL+F is your friend.

Can someone please explain to me what is so good about paper shrine and whats the best way to utilize it?
>>48658881Paper is a low quality material with an extremely small weight modifier. You use it on heavy things to make them light things, most famously the Tent which can hold a lot of other things that gets its weight modifier applied to it.
>>48658885So do i need to constatly walk with tent in inventory in hopes to get paper shrine?Or does paper shrine weight so little i can just put it in my inv?
>>48658894Keep the tent on you. It weighs basically nothing when empty so its more of a "for the future" thing.
>>48658899Thank you for help
Items inside fireproof, coldproof and acidproof CONTAINERS (e.g. bags and pouches) should be unaffected by the above.
Did this game go on sale during winter steam sale?Current price is kinda too big for me atm (its 30$ in my 3rd world shithole). But i spend so much time in "borrowed version" that it would be crime not to support devs.
When the well filled with with water again? I claim the holy well from snow village, and it keep dried up for weeks already
>>48658934It just came out.
>https://github.com/Elin-Modding-Resources/Elin-DecompiledReading this code makes me very pessimistic about Elin's future. Is it like this as a result of the decompilation process, or is this the original code that Noa wrote?
>>48659242It's like that. Noa writes what is basically HSP.
>>48659257Does it work for him? I only recently started playing so I don't know if this game gets a disproportionate amount of bug fixes.
>>48659242Anon do you really think it's that easy to look at proprietary Unity code?
>>48659338It doesn't work but you can power through a lot of shit with indie dev 996 working hours.
>>48659338Somehow. There have been three hotfixes to the latest patch in the last few days. Then again, there have been three hotfixes in the last few days.He has been at this for the last twenty-ish years so it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing. It's just that what he knows is a style of programming he seems to have learned back in high school. Elona runs on actual HSP and it works.
Is nutrition related to stat growth in any way?Now that I have a steady and consistent supply of food thanks to mushrooms, am I bricking myself if I eat as soon as I go from [Bloated] to [Filled] instead of eating when hungry?Do I need to worry about wasting excess nutrition value of food? Also, what are some relatively easy ways of pumping [Charisma] in early/mid-game? I've been eating pic related slop mushroom since forever but my charisma is still only at 12.Not really necessary but I thought it'd be nice to have Charisma since I can't recruit Rodwyn or even a random ass Secretary because they need 34+ Charisma.
>>48659401You're wasting the nutritive value of food. Hunger is a value from 0 to 100 at base, modified by heavy/light eater. The 10% bonus to xp from eating while hungry aside, if you eat a 50 nutrition meal while at 75 hunger, half of the xp is wasted.
>>48659401eating while starving/very hungry/hungry adds more stat boosts, nutrition is a multiplier the more the better, bloated = stat gains are wastedinnslop, music quests, worshipping horome are easy ways to level cha early
>new year's gift was a Snow PutitFuck this shit, I wanted a Carbuncle
>Apostle only joins me when Faith is already at 18.30This Piety system shit is so ass. Why are gods so greedy? If they are really going to be like that they might as well go tongue kike anus.
Thank god mushrooms are a thing else the thought of having to stockpile enough food to keeping 5 niggas including me well fed would be a nightmare without mini salad and potage slop.
>>48659821You don't actually have to keep your party fed unless you're planning to fight since pet starvation only affects their HP/MP regen.
>>48659687I only found grinding piety for Kizuami and Horome to be annoying (especially if you didn't plan ahead and hoard heavy swords), the rest of the gods are pretty ok imho.>>48659821Only problem with mushrooms is low nutritional values (so your homies will be eating all the fucking time), but they are definitely god sent. I love making cheese out of red mushrooms for good gains.
If I give a spellbook of [magic] to a NPC that fights by casting spells, will it use the spellbook and use it's magic?
I used to say Elin was trying too hard to be like Rimworld, but now I unironically wish it was more like (modded) Rimworld. I don't like how disconnected from the world you feel the more you progress, how little karma matters, or how absurdly weak other adventurers are. It'd be neat if you criminal empire was periodically raided, if your townspeople were held for ransom, and if having negative karma actually presented a threat you could ignore. Hell, something like snapshots of similar level adventurers from other players spawning with their squad to hunt you down or assault your bases as a form of ghetto punishment pvp would be amazing.
>>48659832Pets don't get the huge speed hit from starving?
>>48659976Early access, please understand.
>>48659988Not as far as I can tell
>>48660001Huh. Learn something new every day.
>>48659907No, npcs use a functionally different system for magic. They will use scrolls and rods though
>>48659976It's not much, but there's that "adv train for rematch" mod that supposedly increases the levels of adventurers after you beat them. I haven't tried it because I'm not far enough into the game to need it, but it might help NPCs keep up.
Was I simply unlucky?
I tried to recruit Miral so I didn't have to walk to his stupid house every time I wanted to trade my medals so I chose to fight him but couldn't for the life of me find him until I realized he was right in front of me all the time, he was just too short to be seen, fucking hillfolk man...
So short men do have a survival advantage after all...
>>48660128Some resident types always have a fixed job (unique characters have usually 2 fixed jobs). Little girls will always have lumber jack, healers will have nursing, bakers will have cooking, farmers farming+gardening.... So I don't know what you were aiming for but that's very normal.
I hate how they copied the whole fire/cold/acid thing from elona. It's not fun and just a lot of annoying upkeep.
Texture expand does not work with giant (objC_2)Male/female Troll worksMale female Asura worksFemale giantess are always invis while male ones appear fine.
>>48660241It works just do it for objC_102 (the feet)
>>48660328Requesting giant sprite that's just two yeeks in a trench coat
>>48660328Why is only the giant causing issues? Trolls and asura are also 2 tile sprites and their 2 tile replacement for m/f works fine??
Uh oh
>>48656137
>>48660043it's a great mod and does a fine job making the player never want to recruit anyone just for the sake of making the world feel more alive by having rivals out there (even though they're still generally push-overs in battle). that, and it's probably a better and more reliable way to strengthen them for inevitable recruitment than it is to personally train them yourself. combined with all the other custom adventurer mods out there, it's really comfy
>>48659449>>48659452Wait, nta but did I fuck myself by picking gourmet 3??
>>48660866Nah, it's pure upside unless you're poor and starving all the time. It "compresses" nutrition, as in you get the same amount of stat/potential but only fill 90% of that in the hunger bar.
How do job and hobby work? I placed he farming sign in the planted tiles (plowed) but I never see the crop yields put into my shared refrigerator (the same with palulus and cactus, no wood and the fruits)
>>48661066jobs and hobbies only do what they say in the UI, that is, farmers only boost fertility and don't pick cropsthe delegated farming policy will harvest and replant but the tradeoff is that they're lazy and it can take days before they harvestfor crops that leave a rump plant after harvesting, if you harvest them yourself and leave the plant, they'll automatically replant it (eventually), which is probably the most efficient use of the policy if you're willing to give it some manual input
>>48661085Oh wew, thought Loytel is being dodgy with my farm again. But then how the lumberjack sign work then?
>>48661096they'll generate logs out of thin airon the other hand, trees on soil with a farm sign are harvested under delegated farming, but I don't remember what yields they give(besides fruit)
>>48655691I wanted the silver haired horome.. backer why..
>>48660941Doesn't getting 10% less nutrition also mean you get 10% less stats? The feat does give you a 5% bonus, but that still leaves you at -5% per food item.Of course, if food is abundant (which is probably the case for most people with Gourmet 2) then it's basically a free 5% bonus, but unless I'm mistaken you don't "get the same amount of stat/potential".
>>48661285The compression adds that 10% into the food normally so it breaks even, that's why its called "compression" and not "reduced"The extra feat 5% is a bonus.
>>48660365That would be extremely painful.
I have 45 cooking, what kind of mag food should i be trying to make? Currently growing apples to try and get mag potency, but ive been using api nuts to make grilled meat with shisho leaves using corpses with +magic.

just curious, why does this video game general get a special spot on /jp/, instead of being moved to /vg/? is it because it is 100% weeb?
>>48662063Shut the fuck up newfag tourist these threads have been around before you waddled onto this site.
>>48662069I was playing Elona before your balls dropped shitstain, answer the question.
>>48662074/vg/ literally didn't exist at the time, go back to /v/.
Yeah baby!
>>48662078well it exists now, so feel free to answer the questionyou actually saying there is a 'grandfather clause' just for elona?
>>48662085No, kill yourself
>>48662086the samurai would execute you for being disrespectful, shame on you as a /jp/ poster
>>48661285Yes, that's correct. The nutrition effect cancels out if you have abundand food. But if you have a very limited supply of good ingredients, then the nutrition reduction means you'll get less stats out of that supply.
>>48662160Thats still not how that works. There is no lost nutrition stat.
>>48662174There is https://github.com/Elin-Modding-Resources/Elin-Decompiled/blob/main/Elin/CraftUtil.cs#L147
>>48662180Then I should be getting -5% exp and not +5%
>>48662196Did you craft the food you ate in pic2 when you had gourmet 3? The nutrition reduction is applied when you cook the food.
>>48662197That hadn't occured to me, I apologize you are objectively correct.
So I fucked over myself by getting gourmet 3.Seems okay for single ingredient slop that you can eat constantly such as mushroom soup... but it's sad for those special foods with carefully selected ingredients...
>>48662210Big boy meals you should be duping with kettle anyway
Almoat one year in-game and I haven't finished Mysilia yet...I'm playing on Oath of Eternity so I'm very afraid. When I did a trip to Truce Ground for Kumiromi and Fox Village for Futon I was running holding my ass in my hand out of fear of it falling down every time I got ambushed. Those multiple near death experiences were enough for me.For starters, Fiama and Ash will stay in my Meadow until all my attributes are at 30 except for charisma, at 50 for a 8 niggers party.
protip: as long as you never do the quest "An Hour in the Morning" then the event where Loytel moves to Vernis and forces you to create a base there will never happen
>>48662246Permadeath is the same as it's always been, massively overlevel and do nothing challenging because taking actual risks means one might lose a character with hundreds of hoursThis isn't a game where a run is a few hours at most
>>48662034thanks, any suggestions on a wil food as well?
Do you ever get defences for your base or even a fucking lock on the door? Or are enemies just going to open the door and walk in forever?
>>48662507Enemies CAN DO that? (I have that protection law on the Meadow, so no more mobs spawn unless I summon them using scrolls btw)
>8 guests>2 orens lodging revenue>>48662519Yeah they just open the front door and come in like they own the place
>>48662507No, you don't really. You can either use a mod to make enemies not spawn, trap mobs with the build board at an elevation 10 tiles higher than the adjacent cells (what I do, use summon monster scrolls in an area and once you have 5-6 monsters spawned elevate them). There is a limit to how many enemies can be spawned naturally so that's the "cheesy" way.Aside from that you can get fiama and ashland (their unique job lowers enemy spawn I think) and shiva pets from a trainer (they have a high chance tol teleport upon detecting combat in your base and cover whoever was damaged).>>48662347Get a rice strain with MAG+WILL, and use the wooden mortar with the rice you get, you get rice cakes. Then, turn that into cheese. After that I'd say you can make any recipee with Rice+Cheese, for example a kids lunch is very good as it uses egg+rice+fruit+seasoning(a first cheese)+cheese, so you could make a dish that you duplicate with 2 of those special cheese, a good rice strain, a rainbow fruit (high nutrition) and ideally a good egg, but those are quite random, but if you could get a rockbomb or medusa egg that would good I guess.
>>48662507My townspeople kill most spawns before I even notice them. I just occasionally find chunks of meat or organs lying out on the outskirts.
