It's the Kurofune (the black ship) commanded by commodore Perry that opened up Japan for trade, funny thing is every Japanese knows about Perry, but nobody in the US remembers this fool, even the few warships named Perry are because of some other guy in the family that did something actually noteworthy, it's the legit case of "you took everything from me - I don't even know who you are" for Japan.

>A government report says that US forces are now using 1.8 billion rounds of small-arms ammunition a year. The total has more than doubled in five years, largely as a result of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as changes in military doctrine.

>John Pike, director of the Washington military research group GlobalSecurity.org, said that, based on the GAO's figures, US forces had expended around six billion bullets between 2002 and 2005. "How many evil-doers have we sent to their maker using bullets rather than bombs? I don't know," he said.

>"If they don't do body counts, how can I? But using these figures it works out at around 300,000 bullets per insurgent. Let's round that down to 250,000 so that we are underestimating."
>Pointing out that officials say many of these bullets have been used for training purposes, he said: "What are you training for? To kill insurgents."
Counting rounds fired in training together with rounds fired in combat is incredibly dishonest.
>>
>>64759014
>bad faith "wect bad!" threads crop up
>find out there's another global south humiliation
Why is it so incredibly consistent?
>>
>>64758647
Think of it the right way. The US spent 1/4 a million on each dead combatant by preventing the death of their own. Each US citizen costs over a million to raise and close to a million to train.
>>
>>64759014
No wonder the number seems so very high, when they're fucking counting ammunition spent in training and practice (which is going to include training and practice with suppressive fire), considering that live combat with enemies is on average what most grunts do least.

Good contribution to help wash a shitty thread, sincere thanks.
Has anyone done a more honest math, like just counting what people went into an engagement with, then counting what they had left after, the comparing to killed, captured, and escaped enemies?
>>
GWOT was started to keep military spending as high as possible.

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>uses the safety to force the reset of the trigger
>allows for way more trigger options (you just have to trim two places)
>invented by Tim Hoffman (https://hoffmantactical.com)
>gifted to the world to freely 3D print
>enterprising people now selling super safeties made of steel (recommend at least 4140)
>cheaper than an FRT ($90-$150)
>originally a 3-position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is super
>3-position 90° super safety selectors are now available

Some of the concern can be eliminated with tuning. The way I tune an autosear on home built designs is with empty cases with a few layers of tape on the back (or shim stock if you want to be more professional). Do the math so that the hammer hits the firing pin right when the bolt closes. More good insurance is adding a deadblow weight in the bolt, that can be challenging on smaller bolts though.

Not the guy you were talking to, super safety levers implying they are made well, do last thousands of rounds and are very reliable.

Typically, levers snapping is due to high shelf lowers.

What I will say that's advantageous for the rarebreed is the fact that it can work in high shelf lowers as well.

Japanese official documents on Chinese sex tourists from Nanjing (Nanking) in the 1600s and 1700s pumping and dumping Japanese teenage girls after getting them pregnant

http://www.eastasianhistory.org/39/vos-foibles

>As a matter of fact many Chinese seem to have worried about the education and future of such children. Huang Chê-ch’ing,12 a captain from Nanking, had a liaison with Yakumo,13 a girl from the Iwataya, and fathered a boy Kimpachi,14 his only child. In 1723, when he was 71, he returned to Nagasaki to meet his son. He then brought goods with him sufficient to take care of his son for the rest of his life and asked the Chief Administrator’s Office for a special permit to barter them.[55]

This was centuries before World War II

Over 1 million Koreans got raped in the Imjin war too.

How common was rape of Korean civilians by Japanese soldiers during the Imjin war?

https://desuarchive.org/his/thread/16658070/#q16658070

Japanese also mass raped Korean women in the Imjin war.

>>16658070 https://desuarchive.org/his/thread/16658070/#q16658070 Some Koreans try to cope and claim they don't have Japanese rapebabies because Korea was annexes peacefully in 1910 and Korean women were used as comfort women outside of Korea. They totally forgot that the Japanese committed brutal gang rapes in Korea against Korean women during the Imjin war in the 1590s, the Japanese would rape Korean girls, and leave the ugly Korean girls pregnant with Japanese rapebabies behind in Korea while prettier Koreans girls would get sold to Portuguese or taken to Japan.

Yeah its a fanfic, globalism would prevail either way. Just look at sweden, fucking racemixers. I just want things to be the way they were in the 90s/00s. Back then, I would be a social democrat. Now, I think that ideology (somewhat sensible taxes, somewhat sensible welfare, strong unions, bit of nationalism) is dead.

Still, WW2, hell, WW1 were all tragic mistakes. I am not antiwar, things like falklands, ton of african safaris, sandboxes 1,2,3... were all fun, but its because they were exported violence. Never get high on your own stuff I guess...

Wood tables are stable enouth for modern scales. I planned to get a 50lbs stone plate as a weight but didnt find any kind of error readings with the wood table while comparing the same scale in the lab and at home.

Anyone here reload 5.7? Are there any weird issues you've run into? I basically want to just replicate the V-Max self defense load and pump out cheap ammo for practice. Is it true that it needs a coating on the brass or it doesn't function reliably out of a pistol? I kinda want to get a 5.7, but I reload everything I shoot and if 5.7 is a PITA to reload, I'll just skip it and go with something else.

PLA +, all of the doped filaments are side grades unless you're having warping issues which they can help with. The main limit on print strength is layer adhesion with decent designs. Doped fibers usually have worse layer adhesion than a normal polymer blend so they don't tend to be functionally stronger. Also you're dealing with shit like carbon fibers being kicked up into the air too. Should probably have an air purifier running next to your printer though anyways tbqh.
>>64742454
There are apparently some surprisingly good 3dp suppressors. Fire rates are less limited than you'd think on account of them not conducting heat well. Definitely still in the disposable category but they can last up to 1k center-fire rifle rounds and more with lower pressure stuff. Key of course is to serialize an outer tube and recore it whenever it wears out.
>>
>>64758798
>Key of course is to serialize an outer tube and recore it whenever it wears out.
Just FYI, if you're not an 07/02 then replacement cores trigger a new tax stamp. If you're going to go the route of engraving the tube and replacing cores, just keep your mouth shut about the cores being disposable.
