You're tasked with building a kit to help Iranian resistance against the Ayatollah regime, the kits you build will be airdropped into Iranian territory in large dufflebags and then picked up by chosen operatives. You have $3k per kit to try to arm an light resistance guerrilla fighter, you can only source items from the US civilian market. At minimum you should provide a rifle, a pistol, body armor, essential accessories and ammunition for both, as well as any survival or tactical implement you see necessary. What kind of stuff do you pick?

>>64758580There are entire books written about this, the USSR didn't do shit the Czar did. Russia spent half a century using US made rifling machines because they couldn't make their own. Any anons here ever been to ShootSmart? Its pretty much the only range I hear about in DFW, but they seem extremely expensive: Their prices put me off but their also the closest range to my neighborhood so their convenient...Would you say if I shoot at the minimum 2-3 times a month that a membership would be worth it? How much money would I realistically save? If you get their most expensive membership you get to shoot at the lanes for free and get a free FFL, which is tempting but I'm not sure if its worth it bros...their normal prices are as follows>Public Shooting Lane: $17>Private Shooting Lane: $32>FFL: $45And that's not even counting everything else. Like I've seen Holosun Sights easily going for $400+ there. I think that they upcharge everything to get you to buy a membership, which is pretty scummy, but I am tempted I'm ngl.
>>64757503I mean, that is pricey, but do the math? And really hunt around hard to see if there are any other options. But if they've ended up with a local monopoly then you've just got to balance how much membership saves vs public cost vs value of your time and vehicle depreciation to drive somewhere else etc. Like, can you make a bit of a road trip to public land somewhere within an hour a couple times of month and have it be a bit more of an event, bring a tent and go camp and such? If that's not for you or not realistic then it is what it is, save up to move somewhere better someday and/or buy your own land. One small consolation could be if the pricing puts off shitheads I guess. You'll have to go in person though at least once to see how you actually like that specific place.>>64757756>>paying for public rangesNo OP, but what? Never heard of ShootSmart myself but sounds like OP is describing a private range not a public one. If he lives in a shitty place with nowhere else to shoot in an hour's drive then that sucks but if he's stuck there for work or family or whatever for the time being gotta make do as best you can.
>>64757756>lived in the Democratic People's Republic of Coloradostan for 5 years>$40k/yr raise moving to the State of the Red People I miss going to the national forests to shoot for free at hundreds of yards, but it'd be pretty dumb for me to not move and buy a range membership, even if I have to be surrounded by casinos now. Good luck OP, DFW seems like a pretty bad place to live for gun people, laws aside
>>64758860Lol
>>64757503What side of town are you in?
>>64757503So, I have done this math before. If you are able to get either free or discounted FFL transfer fees, some amount of low cost or free range usage and discounts on some ammo at the range I think it would be worth it. That means you can easily just drop in any time of the day or week, work in about 10-20 magazines if you pre load them and then be on your merry way. That would for me be worth roughly 150-200 a month just in time savings. Now ymmv with whatever ranges are around you but that would be what makes the range reasonable for me.

They actually don't have any good options. Entire lineup sucks right now given the company's past issues and more.

USA spent on average 250 000 bullets per kill in Afghanistan & Iraq.
>>64758647Better to waste bullets than waste lives.
>>64759014>Counting rounds fired in training together with rounds fired in combat is incredibly dishonest.True, but it really is US doctrine to just absolutely spam rounds downrange. The 250k statistic or something like it was told to me in basic training, by drill sergeants trying to impress on us that in combat, more bullet = good.
>>64759595I guess it hits the message home that the volume is critical, but I think it does even if it's something like 100 to 1000 rounds spent per enemy kill.
>>64758647citation neededalso most fire is suppressive fire
Anyone of you guys did a tour and actually did real combat? I assume you kept track of how many mags you had on you, do you have any recollections of how many you tended to use in an engagement where you actually killed, wounded, or captured an enemy fighter?Trying to work from this would be some pretty fuzzy and vague math to go on by itself, but it should still be more accurate than the 250k ballpark.
