I think the .45-110 Sharps from Quigley beats it. Even as a real historic cartridge, the movie made it a meme, but kick started a whole boomer sport of metalic case black poweder competition. Complete with "dude" outfits and grandma wives sewing up cosplay outfits. I do give props to the movies costume designer and armorer. They started it all.

They're expired. Once a plate is expired, the warranty against defects is up and technically the plate's ballistic guarantee is no longer good. Whether or not these are really the recalled 4400s, 4600s, 3410s, and 3610s from five years ago won't matter - not legally at least.
Bad news is that Botach started out with over a hundred or so sets of 4400s, so more than 70 people are running around with sketch armor. This is not counting 4600s, 3410s, and 3610s they also had.
Not as bad as the Highcom 4SAS4 situation though. Tacticalshit sold more than 8,000 by themselves in the first few months, and they were one of several dealers. Judging by the samples anons received in the Highcom threads just over a year ago, a substantial portion of those plates have workmanship defects, damaged labels, and were shipped with virtually no padding. As no-drop plates, that's extremely risky and it stands to reason a lot of people are running around with compromised armor.

There's a quote somewhere that Buffman's first 4SAS4 test, showing them failing pathetically, somehow cost Chase Tactical millions of dollars. I think maybe the expectation was Highcom was just going to sell 4SAS4s forever as some kind of bottom barrel dollar store plate.

Also, since people are probably persuaded by that RMA XRT's price, I'm going to raise the Gilliam 1948 as a counter. This is multi-curve, 7lb, 1.15" thick (0.25" trauma pad), $320 a set. Level IV.
It's cheaper than the XRT, one pound heavier, and substantially thicker, but provides full house Level IV protection. Also the trauma pad should reduce behind armor blunt trauma substantially. If you can concede multi-curvature the GTS 1023 has better multi-hit. It's good for six .30-06 M2AP if you're generous with the spacing.

>The C-47 was circling and now was attempting to land on the Batan airfield. The plane had its landing gear down and was at an altitude of about 150 feet. Curdes fired in front of the C-47, but it still maintained its course. At this point, they were close enough to shore that Japanese flak guns started firing at Curdes' P-51, but not at the C-47 possibly because they thought it to be one of their own, especially considering Curdes' behavior towards it.[6] Curdes reasoned that it was better to shoot down the aircraft than allow the crew to be taken prisoner by the Japanese. Curdes came about 20 yards from the C-47 and fired into one of its two engines, causing it to fail.[3] The C-47 maintained its course for Batan, so Curdes disabled the other engine, forcing the pilot to ditch in the sea. The plane successfully ditched about 300 yards from shore without breaking up and the crew was able to evacuate into lifeboats. The C-47 crew drifted to about a mile from shore and was then engaged by enemy small arms fire from the shore for about half an hour. Curdes dropped a message around this time saying: "Keep away from shore. Japs there."[3] La Croix approached and was brought on board the C-47's life raft, where he was informed about the situation.[3]

You have a moderately sized military force and you have to deal with several hundred of these things. Here’s what you gotta remember about them:
>Nearly immortal, body can be damaged but the only thing that can kill them is fire
>sever a limb and it will keep coming after you
>burning them isn’t advised because the gasses inside will reanimate any corpses around them, including animals
>They do feel pain, from injury and their rotting bodies
>eating brains relieves said pain
>they’re very smart, able to fake calls for backup and set up ambushes
>speed depends on the state of decay, fresher corpses run like a human
>nuking them would kill them, but it would spread the trioxin gas further and make a bigger outbreak in the end
Well, /k/? You gotta get creative with this one.

If you'd remember, the military sent multiple units into the city to fight the zombies. We're only shown the fates of the one unit but it's all but explicit that the rest of the soldiers they sent in met the same fate until most of the zombies got fried by the power station.

Coast Guard is always a good option since you're always (actually) doing your job, the bases are usually in good locations, and its just a very chill branch over all.

Downsides only being that if you hate being on a boat I wouldn't join the Coasties. I could be more specific if you knew what job you wanted/what branch. So I'd look around at their website to get a good look at their rates (military jobs). I'd also recommend the Navy, as I'm in the Navy, but I won't lie to you and say its better then the Coast Guard.
>>
>>64771527
Heavily depends on what specific thing you enlist as. Your experience will vary greatly depending on not only your chosen branch but also your chosen job and first unit.
What are your goals? Why are you thinking about joining? What's in this for you other than a general desire for adventure?
Do you have medical issues, criminal history, outstanding massive debt, or foreign contacts or assets?
Do you have a degree?
>>
>>64771527
>Is he right or wrong?
Neither. He might be right for himself. The military is extremely situational, not just by the branch and job you choose, but based on your own personality. About 10% of people will hate it, 10% will love it, for the middle 80% it's just a job with different pluses and minuses. Keep in mind that among the non-careerists of the middle 80%, many tend to get greener grass syndrome about civilian jobs the same way civilians misunderstand the military.
>>
>>64771599

Recently got let go from my IT job, kinda feeling like a burn out. I figure it would be an okay way to leave the nest.
No to medical/criminal/debts/etc
I have an associates degree.

My physical fitness:
21 minute 3 mile run, about a 38 minute 5 mile
50ish pushups
10ish pullups
4-5 minute plank

Just open to general advice. I guess I could go work for walmart too but that seems uneventful with few benefits.
>>
>>64771621
One common factor to consider is the amount you have to earn as a civilian will be higher to afford an equivalent quality of life that a married enlisted or officer receives. The GI Bill is a great way to incentivize younger people into joining, but that sweet sweet BAH is what keeps people in.

If you knew just a tad bit of physics you'd know that the infrared is temporarily being blocked by the water in the mud and once it inevitably warms up to your body temperature, it too will emit infrared radiation. It's good for a temporary camo tho

the biggest lie of the day

Kosovo just flight-tested its first strike drone, “Skifteri K1” ( “Vulture”).
Claims millimeter-level accuracy on target.

Specs (allegedly):
– Endurance: 7h 12min
– Range: 1,124 km
– Payload: 42 kg

Exaggerated but given modern GPS chips and COTS controllers PGMs are not that difficult anymore. The real question is how good their IMU and Kalman filter tuning are when this thing has to function in a GPS denied, or worse, spoofed, environment

Shot placement?

Keep in mind you may be in situations where you have to stop a loose shit bull from tearing some bystanders face off and over penetration is an actual concern when it's lockjawed onto that poor soul.
