Handgun groups are pretty terrible right now. I think the biggest issue is that my firing hand is doing a lot of work and I’m having a hard time building my grip with the support hand. I feel like this is being caused, not wholly but to a significant degree, by not having enough physical space to accommodate my support hand.
I am using the biggest back strap that came with my Glock 47 and I wrapped the whole grip with hockey tape to create more surface area but I’m not sure what else to do from here.

Hey anons, I’ve started getting interested in weapons, militaria, and artillery. But I have no idea how to study or research this topic. Does any anon know or have resources for that? I always look at /k/ threads, or some messages in militaria channels on Telegram, and I get completely jealous of people’s knowledge. They can identify weapons by name, know about calibers, understand military history, etc… I wish I could have the background to join those conversations.

2. Strategic Studies Institute publications - The Bear Went Over the Mountain, etc
3. Field Manuals are public
4. Commandant's Reading List
5. Unironically, play Arma or Wargame for baseline.
6. Go to the range / play airsoft / laarp in the woods

More importantly though, understand why you want all this knowledge. You become a bitter useless weeb when you learn and don't apply. Unless you are going into the military, starting a defense tech company or a PMC, maybe your time is better spent elsewhere.

The other point is that there is just too much - an aircraft weeb and a navy weeb won't necessarily have much overlap with a tacticool and a HAM weeb or range weeb with a HEMA weeb, etc. Decide your weeb class.
>>
>>64687976
Concept starts with a name. Saw some weapon in movie and games? Imfdb the media.
Read document, put new names in notes.
Search database again with those names, note down the new document if can't finish in one sitting.
Analysis detail by asking question about how these concepts are linked in the component and big picture, before and after.
Do it a few time, realize there is too much to read and the rest feel like a grind.
order and map the notes to organize what you have.
Distill patterns and principles as you realize they are just different appreances of the same thing, different combination of the same building blocks
Asking more basic and fundamental questions like a designer would, if you are the engineer type.
Ultimately like the notes we make, something has to be done with the new knowledge, mostly an advantage for a competition prize and a role to be fulfilled.
Database you can use are dtic, internet archive, science journal, then google and library search. Im too weak to dig through national archive.
The document include field manual, handbook, report, memoir\vignette, some autist's blog and some cadet's thesis who tries to graduate academy. Don't read stuff from an active military staff, all garbage of the month.
Hopefully you don't end up as pdf horder like me.

>maybe your time is better spent elsewhere.
Thanks for the advice, but honestly, I just like the subject. I don't think I need a purpose or anything like that. I just have an interest in militaria and want to learn more.

>The other point is that there is just too much - an aircraft weeb and a navy weeb won't necessarily have much overlap with a tacticool and a HAM weeb or range weeb with a HEMA weeb, etc. Decide your weeb class.

>>
>>64688326
What stupid questions do you have now OP? Honestly asking stupid questions is how you learn.

Why does a heli kill a tank?
Why does an IFV get killed by a tank, but the Bradley sometimes doesn't?
Why did the Tomcat get discontinued?
Why do you still need ground troops when drones win wars?

We have nuclear powered subs.
Why dont we have nuclear powered surface ships besides carriers?
Also, how much supplies are flown in for carriers out at sea? Is it a constant stream of helis just carrying supplies? Where does the supplies come from? The pacific is pretty fucking far from America.

those are USN problems due to pork barreling.
French Navy just uses civilian reactors on their SSN. French CVN then gets SSN reactors.
>>
>>64686611
>so they overengineered it
Not exactly. Rickover was legendarily conservative with his approach to design. When the Navy decided that it wanted a nuclear carrier, he insisted that they build it just like a conventional one...but with reactors instead of boilers. Conventional carriers had 8 boilers, so Enterprise got 8 reactors.

As it turned out, this wasn't a great idea for a variety of reasons, so the Nimitz class got a pair of A4W's instead.

> I bet the motherfucker would have hit 60 knots
Don't back that bet with money unless it's money that you want to lose. Memes aside, she made about the same amount of power as a Kitty Hawk and had a far heavier displacement. Nimitz makes almost as much shaft horsepower and displaces less. The sea stories of Enterprise doing amazing things are just that...sea stories. She was fast, but not significantly faster than what came before or after. When Westinghouse designed the A2W, they did so with the knowledge that 8 of them would be going into a carrier as a one-for-one replacement for existing boilers and that's what they designed for.
>know the difference between a sea story and a fairy tale?
>a fairy tale begins with, "once upon a time..."

This might be too vague and childish a question but if they ever iron out that "fusion reactor in a cargo container" type design, would it be seen in smaller ships because it's not as hazardous as a fission reactor?

I do grasp the outside of how open ended and asinine this question is (what if they invent magic?) because they don't have fusion reactors at all yet, but what also crosses my mind is how, say, an iPhone has an unspeakably complex and powerful CPU in it and they spam them by the millions to be operated by coons. Since there's no nasty uranium or giant lead shields involved could some plausible future reactor, say, get stuffed in every Burke sized ship?

For field dressing deer I’ve used a basic fixed blade and a gut hook blade. Could have used a small saw, but didn’t have one. Any recommendations for this particular task? I like the idea of a dedicated set to bring out when hunting along with the gambrel hanger, but have a decent collection of utilitarian knives.
>>
>>64685835
Skill issue.
>>
>>64686507
The “Mora Hunting Set” has interested me. For saw there is the Casstrom, or any folding saw brand out there. A dual purpose saw like a Silky would be nice if you wanted to start a fire.
>>
>>64686507
I use a wire saw and a Victorinox flexible boning knife, the kind that butchers and chefs use. They aren't anything fancy but are very practical. They cost about $35, the grip has a fine texture on it that works great even if your hands are dirty or bloody, they are very sanitary.

>>64687850
silky saws are awesome for general purpose outdoors stuff, bushcraft, etc. I've never tried to use one on bone though, I'm not sure how well they would work for that given the style of teeth they have. Perhaps they work great?
>>
>>64686507
>Could have used a small saw,
Actual pro-tip:
Don't use a saw on animal carcasses.
Use a cleaver or a hatchet.

Saws create bone dust, meat contaminated with bone dust rots and spoils prematurely.

>If a known conman hadn't made up a fairy tale branch of Christianity we wouldn't have the most elegant and innovative small arms designs known to man

>If browning was some religion other than Mormon he wouldn't have made those awesome designs

In theory if John Browning (the father) wasn't Mormon he might not have had like 20+ kids or whatever he had, which means John Moses Browning might have never even been born in the first place since I think his mother was Brownings secondary wife or something.
>>
>>64688301
Effective birth control didn't exist during JMB's day, so it doesn't really matter what religion his parents were; pretty much everybody had tons of kids back then.

Sell off my last piece of surp not in 308.

I used to intern with a Class II FFL precision rifle builder who also manufactured some NFA items and no joke, you can literally make a good quality (albeit rough finished) suppressor for under $100 provided you have a lathe. You can make even cheaper wipe suppressors for close to $50 out of pipe tubing you find on amazon. I remember watching this video by an American volunteer in the Ukrainian International Legion who talk about a company in the Czech Republic that sold suppressors for the Bren 2 that cost $125 so clearly it doesn't cost that much to make them yet I'm having a hard time finding anyone selling even shitty .22lr whip suppressors for under $500. Certainly with the NFA tax going away you'd think there'd be a market for cheap suppressors in the US right?

Yeah well I do have a few semi autos myself. The point is even with a limited pool of buyers and taxes out the ass they don't cost more than a few hundred. Non-FA rated less than that
>>
>>64676719
Until literally the last couple years, NFA ownership has been purposefully made difficult.

Traditionally, you'd be physically mailing fingerprints and forms, maybe being denied a CLEO signature because fuck you, perhaps forming a corporation to get around that, and then after all that the ATF would sit on your paperwork for a year specifically to discourage you.
While wipes are *suppressor components*, only to be replaced by the factory.

If you are enough of an enthusiast to navigate and push through all that, that shit better be heirloom grade.
If it had been a 4473 and $200 at the register the whole time, January would be only be moderately interesting.

3d printed titanium is likely to remain expensive.
"Oil filter adapters", "freeze plugs in a tube", and "solvent trap" type suppressors are likely to be quite affordable.

Personally, I'm hoping SHOT '26 is absolutely bonkers.
