I work in aviation and my colleagues friend used to fly an agricultural biplane in Africa while working as a doctor doing abortions there. Then came back to fly a Boeing for the airlines, but became so depressed from lack of freedom he was used to while flying in Africa. In the end he decided to come back.
No ATC, complete freedom. Flying low and fast. Landing on dirt roads wherever you want and buming around hotels with private chauffeur. That doesn't sound like the worst escape plane desu

Who would you consider to be "our actual enemies" if not Venezuela?

These sonic weapons have been discussed in the open media for a long time. I've never personally seen one but it stands to reason that if we can send sound and heat over long distances, we should also be able to send ultrasonic frequencies to induce vertigo too. Cuba has been alleged to use sonic weapons against USIC for a long time.

I think the operation to kidnap Maduro in and of itself was impressive. I don't see how it will translate into the US getting Venezuela's oil, which is unfortunate though.

The ziggers have come up with another brilliant plan to counter drones, walking tents! Guessing mostly for night ops to reduce thermal signature? Because these are definitely not good for day time at least. Though it'd be hilarious to see them try assaulting with these fucking things on. What will the ziggers dream up next to deal with thermal cams?

For another note here, it's not just that the USAF is the biggest air force in the world and it's not even close. Or that they're the only country that can park a full fucking airbase off your coast on a few days' notice.
Consider the F-35 family. It's not just a fifth gen that the USAF has ordered 1,000 of alone. It's fifth gen that has not only over 1,200 units already in the wild, more than every other fifth gen before it put together, it's that every single one of those planes not going to the USN, USAF or USMC is going to a friend. The US is going to produce literally thousands of them, so many that it's already cheaper than almost all 4.5th gens. The fucking Norwegian, Dutch and Australian air forces currently operate more fifth gen fighters than Russia has ever had a prospect of building.
Betting against NATO doesn't just mean betting against the largest, most advanced air power on the planet, it means also betting against all their best friends who they're typically happy to kit out similarly, and have spent a long time practicing working together specifically to wreck your shit if you make them.
The tech gulf wasn't as pronounced in the Cold War, but the basic idea applies. People focus on the US obviously but I think they undersell how insane the western hemisphere's combined capabilities are for most forms of conventional warfare, even with Europe caught with their pants down on rearmament.

>in the world you are describing I think that assassination would be a very prominent part of both politics and warfare.
I love it. It jives with the theme of smaller but more elite armies. Assassins, headhunters, saboteurs, scouts, and snipers would be the commandos of this setting. Adds the possibility of mercenary companies who specialize in such tactics, along with experienced detachments to augment a given army.

>>64755471
I'd be fine with animu but, I like the idea of an CRPG that meshes skirmish and field army battles. Keep it full of depth but simple and narrow, like the Homeworld series. I could see that really working because you could start by focusing on a single nation-state, and gradually building out until you have over a dozen different factions based on analogues of the Pike/Shot/Colonial era. Samurai and Musketeers, Landsknechts and Conquistadors, Knights and Dragoons, Cossacks and Mamelukes...But with Dragons. After a few years, you have an entire setting on a Risk-style map, with playable campaigns for each faction and a story to go with them.

Damn...Yeah, I need to start working on this. I might take the notes from this thread to /tg/...
